Here is the deck, i used to reach rank 1 legend this season.
If this gets +50, i'll post matchup details and a guide.
I'll post matchup details and guide in couple hours.
It was designed to be a midrange combo deck, that can race against aggro decks and outfast control ones. It's good against other combo decks, since you get your combos faster, that your opponents. Try to remember that, while playing and always ask yourself, how can you lose the match and how can you win the match.
Cards, that i feel to explaine:
Emperor - DON'T, just don't play this card in rogue, if you are not stupid.
Sabotage
A cheap combination of assasinate and ooze, that requires combo activation.
Q: What match-ups does it improve?
A: It's great vs Patron (on the second Death Bite). It's awesone against Handlock, if you sabotage their's first drage or giant - you are 90% likely to win. I have never lost to handlock after sabotaging first giant. It's also ok vs hunter, shamans and paladins. It's also good against druids after you get tempo advantage. Sometimes it can be used against stealthed minion (shade, Antonidas, etc.).
You have to understand, that this card CAN be match-deciding, and that's why i put it in.
Dr.Boom
There are to reasons, i don't play it:
1. I don't want to give opponent bgh value.
2. This card cad win you a match if ONLY you are in a SMALL disadvantage. If you are in lead, you can win without it, if you are behind on the board against face hunter, dr.boom won't help you.
You can play it, if you face a lot of control warriors or if you feel a need of another turn before you get your sprint.
Edwin:
A typical winmore card. Edwin will never win you a match, except of freezemage or a mirror. It will catch opponent's owls, bghs, executes etc. Piloted Shredder is much better for me.
Shredder:
Your bred and butter against pretty much all the classes. Deals ton of damage, not easy to remove.
If you play Coin - Shredder into second one, you are a favourite against a freeze mage.
Violet Teacher
A great card, but weak against patrons. Nothing new to be said.
Mathch-ups / mulligans:
Mage, Warlock, Shaman: BACKSTAB, SI:7. Do NOT keep any other card unless you have backstab and SI:7. One can try keeping deadly poinson and flurry, but it's too risky for me.
Paladin, Hunter: Fan, Backstap, SI:7. If you are sure, it's not a face hunter, you can mulligan Fan.
Warrior: Shredder. If you have one and a coin, get second.
Druid: Shredder, Teacher, Prep, Sap.
Play this as fast, as you can! Oil turn 5 MIGHT be great. Prep Sap is your midgame winning combo.
Priest: You can't lose, but try to get your shredders before turn 8.
Handlock: If you are sure, you are playing against a handlock, get your shredders, sabotage. Keep backstab-eviscerate combo. THE MAIN RULE HERE is: NEVER SAP FIRST GIANT OR DRAKE. Never do that, it's an insta loss.
If i forgot something, ask me in the comment section. And please forgive my rusty english.
Late to the party on this reply, but it is possible to climb with this deck even without the preps (I did fairly well without any, though the deck got considerably better and faster with the first one added). I wouldn't expect to climb too high up the ladder, but if you can play smart and make good trades, the rest of the deck still functions and you can have some blowout turns with your limited mana.
I'd suggest a second Antique Healbot to replace the missing prep, as you'll be going a lot slower without that extra boost to your combos and the lifegain can give you an extra turn or even two, depending on what you're going against. You'll get your burst combo eventually, without the preps you just can't get them quite as early and in a lot of matchups, taking an extra turn or two can be the difference between a win and a loss. Anything you can do to hold on to your board position and stay alive (without having to throw away combo pieces!) can help a lot!
But yeah, you definitely want to get the two preps ASAP.
Rank 17 to 7 in just a few hours. Running Loatheb instead of Bloodmage, since I don't own him.
Loatheb is a strong card in oil due to it being hard to remove (giving you a chance to oil during the next turn).
I don't agree too much with taking out either thalnos or drake since you really need to draw through your deck fast.
If anything I would take out sabo for loatheb unless you're playing against an insane amount of patron.
It's an efficient way for oil rogues to gain board presence, being a spell heavy deck. If left unchecked it can be difficult to deal with, and will bait out removal/aoe. It has somewhat of an anti-synergy with Tinker's, but it's not a deal-breaker.
Violet -> prep -> sap/eviscerate
That combo can completely win you games. You get such a strong tempo swing if you can remove their board and add 3 minions to yours.
I don't run this rogue since I prefer 2 teacher but its all preference.
im currently running this deck with -2 Preparation, -1Bloodmage Thalnos, -1 Earthen Ring Farseer, -1 Violet Teacher, and -1 Azure Drake because i started my EU account recently (F2P only). i have added instead, +1Defias Ringleader, +1Ironbeak Owl, +1Loot Hoarder, +1Ironfur Grizzly, +1Spellbreaker, +1Spiteful Smith. Please tell me if these were good choices or not. or if i should change to other stuff.
I'm not sure what you're trying to do, because you've just removed every single important card. .-.
looking back on my stupidity and F2P deck. i found a prep which is nice. swapped my loot hoarder for kobold (still no thalnos) still no earthen ring so im stuck with ironfur as i think its the closest swap. i removed my silences and spiteful. i gathered a southsea deckhand and the +2/+1 charge murloc. a month ago i look stupid. and i know my deck still isnt perfect but it is F2P. its a bit of a challange
Not an hard question :)
If the meta has a lot of warriors and you are "new" to the deck I would recommend to not play Oil Rogue.
Against Face Hunter is all about the opening hand
Just thought I'd mention you've got a 28 card deck list; you're missing Sprint. :P (Unless it's bugged for me and I can't see them, in that case I apologize)
Deck looks pretty standard; grats on #1.
I see 30 cards in the list, sprint included.
A good deck except for the seemingly high droprate of Lorewalkers, Ancient Watchers and Doomsayers from the shredders. Note the flavor text: "Once upon a time, only goblins piloted shredders. These days, everyone from Doomsayer to Lorewalker Cho seems to ride one."
Oh I see it now at the bottom. Maybe I was just blind lol.
i wouldnt even worry about that because honestly its hard to counter any deck that beats you on turn 3. you have no time to heal or even get good draw (assume you a bad mulligan). thats just shotty luck friend. also nice deck
I found myself burning rope a lot when I first played this. The oil rogue can be really stressful and unforgiving as you often have to play several cards in the right order and time everything correctly. But it's a strong deck and it's very satisfying when you get your combos off!
I had the worst luck with shredders today. 1 Doomsayer, 2 Loorwalker Cho's and a freaking Ancient Watcher. Haha
I was thinking about trade Violet Teacher for some other card (i have face many patron warriors) and after read your text think about some card to emulate Piloted Shredder, first tought was Piloted Sky Golem, after that i think about Sneed's Old Shredder and finally Cairne Bloodhoof [/card], i pick [card]Cairne Bloodhoof and i'm preety happy with that.
What u think about?
try loatheb\belcher\2nd healbot or farseer
This deck is oil-rogue classic. IMHO most balanced then other ones. Mr.Yagut is great tho, but i like this one most oaf all. New in HS and in rogue but prefer only this deck or same with two Earthen Ring Farseer for minion or hero heal choice.
against 3 handlock pala, warlock and yep a warrior and this deck never work, please a complete guide for this type deck is almost imposible against that
Handlocks are easy. Generally you don't sap the first taunted giant or drake.
I don't have a second SI:7 Agent. Wish I had more dust /: What would be a viable replacement? Maybe a Questing Adventurer? Or bgh? Emperor's Cobra? Not sure.
