Here is the deck, i used to reach rank 1 legend this season.
If this gets +50, i'll post matchup details and a guide.
I'll post matchup details and guide in couple hours.
It was designed to be a midrange combo deck, that can race against aggro decks and outfast control ones. It's good against other combo decks, since you get your combos faster, that your opponents. Try to remember that, while playing and always ask yourself, how can you lose the match and how can you win the match.
Cards, that i feel to explaine:
Emperor - DON'T, just don't play this card in rogue, if you are not stupid.
Sabotage
A cheap combination of assasinate and ooze, that requires combo activation.
Q: What match-ups does it improve?
A: It's great vs Patron (on the second Death Bite). It's awesone against Handlock, if you sabotage their's first drage or giant - you are 90% likely to win. I have never lost to handlock after sabotaging first giant. It's also ok vs hunter, shamans and paladins. It's also good against druids after you get tempo advantage. Sometimes it can be used against stealthed minion (shade, Antonidas, etc.).
You have to understand, that this card CAN be match-deciding, and that's why i put it in.
Dr.Boom
There are to reasons, i don't play it:
1. I don't want to give opponent bgh value.
2. This card cad win you a match if ONLY you are in a SMALL disadvantage. If you are in lead, you can win without it, if you are behind on the board against face hunter, dr.boom won't help you.
You can play it, if you face a lot of control warriors or if you feel a need of another turn before you get your sprint.
Edwin:
A typical winmore card. Edwin will never win you a match, except of freezemage or a mirror. It will catch opponent's owls, bghs, executes etc. Piloted Shredder is much better for me.
Shredder:
Your bred and butter against pretty much all the classes. Deals ton of damage, not easy to remove.
If you play Coin - Shredder into second one, you are a favourite against a freeze mage.
Violet Teacher
A great card, but weak against patrons. Nothing new to be said.
Mathch-ups / mulligans:
Mage, Warlock, Shaman: BACKSTAB, SI:7. Do NOT keep any other card unless you have backstab and SI:7. One can try keeping deadly poinson and flurry, but it's too risky for me.
Paladin, Hunter: Fan, Backstap, SI:7. If you are sure, it's not a face hunter, you can mulligan Fan.
Warrior: Shredder. If you have one and a coin, get second.
Druid: Shredder, Teacher, Prep, Sap.
Play this as fast, as you can! Oil turn 5 MIGHT be great. Prep Sap is your midgame winning combo.
Priest: You can't lose, but try to get your shredders before turn 8.
Handlock: If you are sure, you are playing against a handlock, get your shredders, sabotage. Keep backstab-eviscerate combo. THE MAIN RULE HERE is: NEVER SAP FIRST GIANT OR DRAKE. Never do that, it's an insta loss.
If i forgot something, ask me in the comment section. And please forgive my rusty english.
Nice deck i'm on like 8-1, btw could you post please a video and the mulligan?
Thanks in advance!! :)
You say you cannot lose to priest, however the match-up seems the most challenging for me, perhaps I'm just not as well acquainted with the class as I need to be, any tips/suggestions?
thanks.
I've been playing for a longtime with Rogue and Priest is one of the easiest matchups with Paladin, you need to train and learn more how to use Rogue decks :).
Regards.
Thanks, and yes I have no problems with paladin; I'll keep playing rogue hopefully to improve.
I think that this deck is great and I've had quite some success with it, however I don't think that emperor thaurissian is a bad addition to the deck, especially after a sprint. Additionally, I'm not a big fan of the violet teachers, since the oil might hit a newly spawned token and potentially delay the game, so I've decided to replace it with another antique.
Really enjoying the deck. Thanks!
How would you play violet teacher against patron?
Just play it before turn 8. In that match-up you are not scared of patrons, you are scared of beserker.
I'm having so much fun with the Oil Rogue, actually at 60% winrate (Rank 6). I would say this deck can win every match up, against Handlock, getting crushed by all of them , any tips are welcome :/
Handlock should be pretty easy with sabotage...
Don't get them below 20 until you have enough damage in hand to kill. Just work on croud control. And be wary of swamp ooze...
The picture is still a 2...
I swapped out Violet Teacher and Sabotage for Big Game Hunter and Harrison Jones. Harrison improves warrior matchup more than sabotage, and bgh improves handlock. Bgh also takes out the minions you'd hope to use sabotage on anyway and you almost always have a target for it. The reason for teacher is it's bad against patron and hunter (unleash) and I face a lot of them.
I have only 1 question. Why wouldnt i mulligan for fan if its a face hunter dont i just clear the board for 3 ?
Thanks yeah it makes sense
Yeap. If you are 70% sure, it's a smurk, you can keep it.
When he says "Always think about how you can win and how you can lose," he's referring to your cards like oil and such.Try to trade with minions as much as you can, let them over extended, and try to get a nice oil on a drake hit face with drake, hit face with weapon, and then flurry to wipe board and deal damage to face. Also, you can think of your two eviscrates as 8-10 dmg to face with a thalnos or drake on board. Your deadly poison can be used with flurry to deal with aggro decks, and your sap combo works well with the deckhand and oil combo ^.^ Overall, you want to be thinking "Should i use my spells to WIN, or to not LOSE in this situation"That's not rank 1...
I'm pretty sure 2 is not 1, last time I checked.
Great deck however I disagree with not including Dr. Boom, regardless of BGH around it is just too overpowered to not include
I don't recall saying anything about boardcontrol. For 7 mana, it can easily do 15 damage to the face and steal wins. If you can't understand how OP Dr.Boom is and how it will help you win regardless what deck you're playing...then you are a dumbass.
is loatheb a good replacement for sabotage?
and why not 2 violet teachers
