Another expansion, yet another attempt at dude paladin. Still not tier 1, but can pull off wins vs. meta decks. Let me know if any of you can climb high with any version of dude paladin. Guide below
vs. Control Priest
Vs. Quest Mage, vs. Miracle Mage (surprisingly have been beating most mages)
Vs. Quest Druid
Vs. Clown Druid
Vs. Quest/SI7 Rogue
Vs. Shadow Priest
Vs. Quest Warlock
Mulligan: 1 Drops. It is imperative you upgrade your hero power as this provides the pressure. First Day of School and Knight of Anointment are your main targets, as they give other 1 drops and also cycle the deck.
Quest + The Dude Package: Had to edit deck a few times because the 1 cost cards have to be different or it doesn't count for quest. Upgraded hero power (two 1/1 silver hand recruits instead of 1) from Pave the Way eventually leads to odd paladin style pressure/board flooding. Slower decks cannot compete (unless they have a ton of taunt). You really only need the second part of quest to upgrade the hero power, but if you finish whole quest gives insane value late game.
Lightborn Cariel: This card also buffs silver hand recruits already on the battlefield, so summon her BEFORE attacking
Divine Shield + Handbuff package. The idea is to keep your hand full with card draw + minion creation (cards like Underlight Angling Rod), then buff these minions in hand with Alliance Bannerman and Highlord Fordragon.
Highlord Fordragon: A few 1/1 divine shield dudes on board if ignored by opponent leads to Highlord Fordragon next turn, crash the dudes into an enemy minion and your hand gets a huge buff. Also the buffs on High Exarch Yrel and Catacomb Guard can lead to insane lifestyle (see screens above).
Card Draw + Minion Creation for Handbuff
First Day of School
Underlight Angling Rod
Alliance Bannerman
Knight of Anointment
Handbuff itself
Alliance Bannerman
Highlord Fordragon
Burst
Conviction
Hand of A'dal
Lightborn Cariel
Divine Shield Package
Righteous Protector
Murgur Murgurgle
Goody Two-Shields
Lothraxion the Redeemed
High Exarch Yrel
Cariel Roame
Highlord Fordragon
Dude Package
Day at the Faire
Lothraxion the Redeemed
Rise to the Occasion
Defense/heal:
High Exarch Yrel
Hammer of the Naaru
Catacomb Guard, almost always required vs. quest mage so you don't get burned. Handbuff first for big heals
fyi the random part of the quest resets each stage so you can play duplicates but it just has to be at different stages of the quest
Didn't know this. Not sure what I would change at this point, second righteous protector is good vs. aggro but against all the no minion decks it's pretty useless
i guess you can you use Kazakus, Golem Shaper instead of Cariel Roame if you want
I posted another version of this deck with Kazakus, Wandmaker, and Taelan. Seems to be better at completing quest but less self heal without High Exarch
Nice guide. I just beat quest Priest before they could draw the Purified Shard because I had exact lethal with murloc synergy.
I lost to a quest priest but the guy had every taunt minion in standard in his deck. The 8/8 8 armor x2, lightshower elemental x2, etc. Big taunts are a pain for dude paladin. Have beat every other priest though. I am considering swapping reckoning for a second conviction to close games out quicker
I got a bit lucky. The First Day of School gave me a Murloc Tidecaller and I had exact lethal after putting one more murloc on the board that I got from the Angling Rod. I like Reckoning. The card I don't like is Yogg because it always catches a low-cost spell and it backfires on me 50% of the time.
The thing is oh my Yogg a lot of times in this deck is played as a 1 drop to activate quest, not to protect board. Playing it like this isn't effective, so swapped it for Avenge. Also took out blessed goods and added a second conviction. This should increase deck damage early, will see if it delays quest or not to not have blessed goods
