Dragonmaw Poacher is more of a tech card but a lot of people in the first few weeks will be playing dragons so it will be a great tempo card.
this deck is sooo slow
I got golden Deathwing, Mad Aspect today and want to give this deck a try, but I'm missing Scion of Ruin and Kronx Dragonhoof ... Any replacement for them or should I play something else?
You can run Restless Mummy as replacement for Scion. Instead of Kronx you can run a Town Crier.
thanks!
I also got golden Deathwing, Mad Aspect today. I'm very excited.
I feel like Town Crier is too good not to run in any Warrior deck. It's already good as it is in this deck and you can cut other cards to run Devoted Maniac which is also drawn by Crier. I would probably get rid of Ysera, 1 Crowd Roaster and 2 Dragon Breeder, those cards are a bit slow IMO.
No way you can get rid of Dragon Breeder. That card is just way too good. Lets you cheat multiple copies of your best dragons instead of being forced to fill the deck with something else.
"being forced to fill the deck with something else." No, Warrior has some of the highest quality class cards in the game and running Dragon Breeder is worse than just running a good Warrior card like Town Crier, Restless Mummy, Militia Commander, Dyn-o-matic, the list goes on. Town Crier is leagues better especially when running with already good rush minions. Dragon Breeder is mostly a win more card, running more flexible control and midrange tools are better than a value card that only is usable with a dragon in play. War Master Voone already achieves more than enough value in one card with the flexibility of being usable without dragons in play. Running classic control warrior tools would be better alongside it to reach late game, over running a 2 mana 2/3 that sometimes will get you an extra Big Ol' Whelp, which is best case scenario, compared to Town Crier which is always played early and almost guaranteed to get you a card that can also potentially be a dragon, for dragon hold synergy. But sure if you're looking for a more fun card, play Dragon Breeder but it is by no means better than other options or "way too good".
I was thinking about how good Commanding Shout and Deathwing, Mad Aspect as a combo could be, would Deathwing continue to murder any extra minions spawned by possible Deathrattle effects? It seems like a match made in heaven, but it's too slow for a tempo deck, maybe it's more of a control/highlander type tool.
No it wouldn't, they mentioned it in the Q&A or in some livestream/video
Bunch of dragons. I like it.
I'd give Alexstrasza a slot, a couple of Emberscale Drakes, and a Brawl for survivability.
I feel this deck doesn't have a strong enough early game to survive against more aggressive decks. The expansion brought ridiculously powerful early game for some classes so you have to be able to compete with the likes of Skybarge. Let's investigate the deck's early game minions:
Turn 1: Eternium Rover. A very powerful 1-drop, the only ones in the deck. You can't mulligan for 1-drops consistently. You'll often end up skipping turn 1.
Turn 2: Dragon Breeder/Ritual Chopper. You're either playing a River Crocolisk or a slightly better Heroic Strike. Ritual Chopper is bad if you go second and your opponent has no minions/your rover kills their 1-drop. I think Dragon Breeder is too greedy in a midrange deck.
Turn 3: Scion of Ruin/Smolderthorn Lancer.
A worse Rabid Worgen isn't very good to play on 3.
The Lancer is too often just a 3/2 when there are no proper targets available on 3, but it can be quite strong early on.
Turn 4: Frizz/Poacher/Voone.
Frizz is good to play on 4, but in the short term she's effectively a yeti. In a deck with 10 dragons it takes on average 3 turns to draw a dragon, making her dangerously slow for a more aggressive deck.
Poacher: extremely powerful if your opponent has a dragon, but you can't solely rely on that. You need other good 4-drops too. This card will quite likely be very strong in the early days of the expansion.
Voone is a 4/3 for 4; horrible tempo. When you play him and duplicate your dragons, that Pirate Warrior plays a 4/2 and re-equips their 3-cost weapon.
Ritual Chopper is needed for invoke but i agree maybe add more early game minions. Reason i like Scion is because galakrond draw makes it insane.
If you have any card suggestions then let me know. But thanks for the feedback, its good.
You've got 4 Rush minions. How about adding 2 Town Criers? They're crazy good. Also, Voone might be a bit too slow for a midrange deck. I don't remember him being played even in Control Dragon decks in Rastakhan's Rumble meta for being too slow.
Town crier is good but pulling out Scion is bad so i'm not sure about it.
Seems like a very fun deck, but I would get rid of Ysera. It'll often be a dead card in your hand, and you already have so much value potential with Dragon Roar, War Master Voone, and Dragon Breeder.
Doubt this will work. Dust cost is expensive as hell. It has no way of surviving against early aggros decks like paladin and shaman murlocs, mid-range hunter, and pirate warrior.
That's why we will find out on the 10th. This list isn't final and changes can be made if a lot of aggro decks start appearing.
Maybe Battlerage for more card draw. I don't know if the card draw is enough
Galakrond is the main draw card, kronx draws galakrond from your deck and you also have big ol whelp but if that isn't enough then take out 1 poacher for a battlerage.
