MAIN SYNERGY: Nine Lives SUMMONS 12/12 Deathwing, Dragonlord

THIS DECK CAN RELIABLY PLAY Barnes EARLY IN ORDER TO CHEAT OUT BIG MINIONS. ONE BIG MINION DRAWN DOESN'S RUIN THE COMBO

Spell Hunter's place in the meta

Before RoS: according to Tempostorm's report of 22.03, Spell Hunter was tier 2. In wild, there are a lot of extremely strong decks, so why would anybody play no minions exept Barnes and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound? Well, of course the answer is obvious: if you have a 10/10 minion on turn 4, your chanes of succes are huge. So many players considered this combo so strong that it was worth not playing any other minions.

So all in all, Spell Hunter had it's place in the meta just because of the Barnes-Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound combo and because it could achieve the combo in ~70% matches. But in my experience, a 10/10 minion was often removed.

After the introduction of Nine Lives: highroll potential is enormous with little payoff. I am going to analyse why Spell Hunter is much much better than it used to be.

So, odds to have Barnes played in early turns stays the same. Moreover, if you have one of the big minions in your hand the combo is definitely not ruined. if you play Barnes, the odds

of pulling a 1/1 Deathwing, Dragonlord is 50%. It's not bad, because Nine Lives will ressurect him from now on!

of pulling a 1/1 and a 10/10 Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound  is 25%. I would say that it is the worst outcome (though it had 70+% winrate before RoS), because there will be no 3 mana 12/12

of pulling a 1/1 Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound and a 12/12 Deathwing, Dragonlord is 25%. This outcome is bonkers and I haven't lost a single match when having this outcome.

Spell Hunter is a deck that relies on highroll. It has one of the best highroll potentials between all the meta decks. Now, the potential is bigger and stronger!
