Mulligans
General
Always keep Backstab (it does not need to be discussed 😊 ). Prince Keleseth because the sooner you buff your deck the better. Fire Fly is also a good keep as it is your the only 1 mana drop. Hench-Clan Thug is a really good 3 mana drop while you got your weapon equipped.
With Coin SI:7 Agent to kill enemy’s 1 and 2 mana drops. Elven Minstrel to draw early.
Perfect opening hand is with Fire Fly, Prince Keleseth and Shadowstep.
vs Aggro
You don’t want them to dominate the early game so always keep Backstab, Fire Fly, Prince Keleseth, Fan of Knives and sometimes it is good to keep Saronite Chain Gang to protect yourselves from enemies rushing in your face.
You can also keep Edwin VanCleef or SI:7 Agent if you have Backstab or Coin to take an advantage in the early game.
vs Hunters !ALWAYS KEEP! Chief Inspector, because there is nothing more savage than playing it when the enemy has 3 or more secrets on the table 😉 .
vs Control
You want to play really aggressively in early to leave the opponent on low HP, before he draws his defence and then finish him with Leeroy Jenkins and Cold Blood.
Keep Prince Keleseth, Fire Fly, Hench-Clan Thug, Cold Blood to dominate early.
It is good to keep Elven Minstrel when you got Backstab or Coin to strengthen your hand.
vs Warlock: If you got good early in opening hand you can also keep Vilespine Slayer to prevent him from taking advantage playing Mountain Giant early.
Replacements and Cores
Cores:
Prince Keleseth is an absolute core in this deck as it buffs pretty well with Shadowstep and Spirit of the Shark and gives a lot of value.
The archetype of the deck describes another core: Spirit of the Shark which works pretty well with other cards ( Fungalmancer buff +4/+4 is pretty awesome :) ).
I would rather not advise you to replace Edwin VanCleef as it is a real problem for your opponent when you play it with Spirit of the Shark.
Replacements:
Gral, the Shark is not a necessity in this deck as it can be silenced, polymorphed, hexed or sapped and you will lose 1 or 2 minions. The better choice is Sonya Shadowdancer as it gives a lot of value ( Saronite Chain Gang 1/1 summons the 2/3 because of the latest 'nerf' ).
Leeroy Jenkins can possibly be replaced with Reckless Rocketeer but have in mind you would not be able to use the combo charge + Cold Blood + Shadowstep + charge as it will cost you 11 mana instead of 8 when you play Leeroy Jenkins
If you don't face many hunters you can replace Chief Inspector with any card that would work with the deck archetype.
Zilliax is not a core but it helps you survive as it is your the only heal. Works really well with Cold Blood. But as survival, you can replace it with Bonemare.
Instead of Seaforium Bomber you can try Gurubashi Hypemon for more value :)
kiwiinbacon has made a wonderful video showing how the deck works and how he wins some games with it. I am encouraging you guys to check his YT channel :)
Also user named Khristophesaurus Dinosaurus made a YT video playing this deck :)
I would cut Seaforium Bomber anytime. Doesn't impact the board and doesn't have an instant outcome.
I'd be surprised if it worked well for this deck, since some of the heavier cards such as Spirit of the Shark and Vilespine Slayer need combos.
that's a good point. you will have to be careful when you play him as you might lock yourself out of vilespine turns or good shark turns.
I had not really thought about this. surely though it's more like a tech card to save you if you are going to get destroyed with big cards. it's like an alt win condition or something.
I think it will be better than shark legendary right now though as there are simply too many answers for this card. who knows though. skull of the man'ari has ran rampant for over a year now with barely any check for it. I guess weapon removal is more niche though... there are like 4 answers to shark and most are used already, so it's not like they even need to tech for it.
Time will tell though. Glad I got the card as a freebie though as if turns out awesome, I already got it. ha ha.
Very fun deck!
Sorry to hear that :/ Try second Fan of Knives
This deck is awesome :D shadowstep + spirit can bring to ridiculous situations and I absolutely love the hunter matchup, it's very entertaining. So far this seems to hold up very well on the ladder and I definitely recommend this deck to anyone that wanna have a fun time while climbing.
I made a video showcasing this glorious deck, I really hope you all enjoy !!
Really appreciate it mate! Wish you best stats with this deck and enjoy :)
Interesting deck, I would try to test, but unfortunately I don't have Edwin VanCleef
I mean it is not the core, so you can replace it with Blink Fox because its battlecry works well with spirits :D
Ok, I'll give it a try then :).
Agreed, not having edwin isn't going to make or break this deck. I replaced him with Face Collector and it does wonders even playing it once with shark on board.
Very fun and interactive deck. I replaced Gral, the Shark for Gurubashi Hypemon.
Very fun and destructive!
keleseth replacement? also got no sonya if that would be it.
I am worried that Prince Keleseth is irreplaceable core in this deck as it can give even +8/+8 to your deck. It will not work so well if you replace him :/
It is not a core in this deck, but it helps you draw when you got Spirit of the Shark on the board and gain some pretty good stats sometimes :) However, you can replace it with Sonya Shadowdancer for example.
Imo Gral is not core at all. He actually does not synergize very well with the deck in general, as he does not "eat" the stats buffs of your minions in your deck, if you run Keleseth.
But he is fun to play and I opened him recently, so I am running him in my version of this deck :)
have 0 chanses with spell hunters, 5 games 5 looses. 4 wolf 3 3 its so strong, lol
Sorry to hear that. Imo you got just bad topdecks :D . For now vs spell hunters I got 15-7. Try to keep your SI:7 Agent and Backstab to clear the wolves.
not your fault budy ^
when Im manage to get the chief inspector + they don’t have this wonderful cobmo (secret-secret-coin - talisman) all is not so bad. rogue always had problems with hunters :)
6 3 with hunters and 12 6 in total. and yes, it’s very fun, one of the best decks I've seen lately, ty
