Hey guys it's Bullseye. I recently had some issues with logging into my hearthpwn account which is why I have been inactive for the past few weeks, so I decided to make a new account for now.
Are you tired of playing against shudderwocks all day long as a control deck & not being able to do anything after that turn 9 shudderwock? Well, now you can just give them your howlfiend & defile their hand away before they ever get to play that 9 mana abomination!
Dog has been playing this list on his stream for the past few days & he has been doing really well with it in top 100 legend ladder. This may not be the most optimal control warlock variant, but you'll definitely have a blast playing it in such a greedy meta.
I hope that you can have a blast playing the deck, and if you enjoyed it an upvote would be greatly appreciated ;) . I will be writing a deck guide soon, meanwhile if you have any questions feel free to ask away in the comments' section!

Mulligans:
Vs. Control:
Kobold Librarian, Bloodreaver Gul'dan, Skull, Despicable dreadlord on the coin, Acidic swamp ooze vs druids.
Vs. Aggro:
Kobold librarian, Defile, Hellfire, Skull, Dreadlord vs paladins, stonehill defender, acidic swamp ooze vs paladins.
Card Replacements:
Lord Jaraxxus: Rin, twisting nether, siphon soul, doomsayer if your not facing many void rippers.
Bloodreaver Gul'dan: IRREPLACEABLE
Lord Godfrey: Twisting nether
Bloodmage thalnos: Tainted zealot
The Lich King: Great card, you should definitely craft it... But if you don't have it yet you can replace it with a rin, 2nd twisting or siphon soul.
General Gameplan:
Against aggro, your main concern is surviving & controlling their board until you can overcome them with Bloodreaver Gul'dan & voidlords. Try to use your board clears wisely & stay out of range of burst from your opponents hand.
Against control, your trying to outvalue them by making them discard their hand with the treachery, howlfiend combo. Try to use your resources wisely & don't over-commit onto the board.
Other decks:
Gyong's ripper miracle rogue: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1137265-top-4-legend-gyongs-70-miracle-ripper-rogue
Handerman's Cubelock: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1137275-handermans-incredible-cubelock
Ok, I have to share. Against another lock, they had lethal on board but went for the BM (or bad at maths?) instead of just ending it, slammed the combo to clear opponent's full hand (spellstones, lich king, 2nd voidlord, among other things) for the win! I honestly thought it was over.
Cheers on a great and really fun deck!
What can I replace treachery with
Another deck? Kind of half the point of this particular build mate.
At that point this becomes regular control warlock :p. But if you have glinda you can look for fatigue/mill warlock, those are equally as fun & satisfying vs the likes of shuddershaman ;)
No i know. I was too quick to comment and ask. I realized when I made the deck and did more research on it. Winded up crafting it. 13 and 2 now. Great deck
Yeh after playing this deck for about 20 games, you're better off running just about any other counter-control tool other than Lord Jaraxxus. Its rare you want to Jaraxxus over Bloodreaver Gul'dan and the 15 health is so burstable in the current meta especially when you don't develop anything with the nine mana. Even if you play Gul'dan after Jaraxxus your health will be capped at 15 for the rest of the game. Jaraxxus off of Skull of the Man'ari is nice but I'd rather have another tool. I've run Siphon Soul or Twisting Nether , Rin, the First Disciple or you could cut Jaraxxus plus two and run another Treachery with two Doomsayers.
I think that Skull of the Man'ari is bad in this deck, since if you happen to draw your Howlfiend, while the Skull is in play, it can summon it on the board without you having Treachery to give it to your opponent and defile away his hand. And since it's a control deck, you don't really need the skull.
Otherwise I like the deck and the idea. Too bad you can do the combo only once :).
i actually agree i added Clockwork Automaton and removed Skull of the Man'ari its just too slow and just hit the rank 5 from 9
pretty good deck!
I absolutely love the idea of using Howlfiend and Treachery to rip apart Shudderwock Hands.. oh man I really do, my ultimate salty matchup.
BUT .. am I wrong in thinking that running 1x of each is misleading? I mean, if that is the ultimate combo [with defile] of this deck, how can you only run 1 of each? I understand the Gnomes rip top decks but still.. idk, just seems misleading, and worse not consistent : (.
Can anyone guide me to the light? I would love to play this.
Because it's a tech for them. But apart from this combo, Howlfiend is a pretty bad card, as it is treachery. With the consistent card draw, and because Shudderwock will only be relevant in the endgame, there is a pretty high chance you have both cards in your hand, without clunking your hand with totally useless cards beside of this. You definitively don't want to topdeck treachery vs other decks in topdeck-war.
No, just because it's the ultimative combo doesn't mean you need 2 of them. Sometimes having only one off is far stronger!
what do you reckon about mind breaker as tech for this deck? I really hate taunt warrior and shutting down that quest hero power to get some breathing room would be lovely. Seems I don't have one though so would need to craft it... I reckon I might just so I have the card as an option.
Gnomeferatu is great. If you have Glinda as well you can burn loads of cards. I wouldn't use Glinda in this deck though as there's just simply not enough targets for her to make it worth it.
Don't have Gnomeferatu. Do you think I should craft them or can i just slide in some beetles instead?
Why Shadowbolt over siphon soul please? is it because it's half the price or something? I would normally take siphon soul in a control deck.
It's because Shadowbolt help you to deal with the 3/3 hench in the Rogue matchup. A removal for early game.
thanks. I wish I had jaraxxus as I'd use him with void ripper and flip his damage to 15. if you pull him with skull it would be awesome.
do you never find the skull betrays you though and summons howlfiend, or do you just try your best for that not to happen? I mean like you can only avoid it by not playing skull if you already have howl and not treachery, but sometimes you're gonna have to play the skull to summon early void lords and just risk it I guess.
I was wondering if maybe you could make the deck with lackies and dark pact or sanguine reveller instead. I know lackie is way slower now though and tbh if you have to do both on the same turn, it's almost turn 9 anyway.
EDIT: Jaraxxus seems pretty sweet. I'd like to use him with a void ripper so the skull pulls jaraxxus and then you flip his 15 health to his attack. imagine after a Gul'Dan pull if you got some Void Lords and Jaraxxus, it would be an OTK if you flip them with void ripper.
Skulking Geist fits well also to thin out some decks.
yeah I'd probs take that over jaraxxus... mainly because I don't have Jaraxxus so I'd need to replace it anyway.
I qued right into shudderwock with this deck and I had to admit I have not seen many outs this game but in the end ... really fun game for me :D
