Greetings! My name is HeartOfCards and I'd like to share a deck that you are all probably quite familiar with! However id like to make it apparent that this deck has quite a few variations/possible card replacements to suit different play styles.
Variations:
Can replace: Kel'Thuzad with Ragnaros the Firelord
This variation takes the deck to a faster speed. Kel'Thuzad is a pretty weird card and lots of people dislike him for the fact that he does require a board to be useful. Ive tested the deck extensively with both cards and i switch between the two legendaries occasionally.
Can replace: 2 different early game cards for Feugen and Stalagg
A fun twist on the deck, that also works quite well: Feugen and Stalagg have good base stats and can be used to bait out a silence or removal card for either themselves or on Thaddius. This potentially allows your Sylvanas Windrunner Cairne Bloodhoof, and Ragnaros the Firelord/Kel'Thuzad to pose far greater threats and unleash pain for longer amounts of time.
Can replace: Cairne Bloodhoof for The Black Knight ***
In the current meta we're in, I would very much disagree with this replacement, as the meta seems to be mostly filled with aggro decks with an occasional handlock or control warrior. You'll be able to get some value off of The Black Knight against hunter if he runs Sludge Belcher or Houndmaster, however I dont really think its a great right now especially since Cairne Bloodhoof has synergy with the rest of your deck and is a very difficult minion to deal with.
Closing thoughts: This deck is extremely strong, and can win against practically anything with well-drawn cards, as such it's favored among many other currently popular decks.
HeartOfCards#1638
*** There are many cards you can switch for The Black Knight besides Cairne Bloodhoof***
Forgot to mention if your Kel'Thuzad stays alive you can Shadow Madness their minion kill it off then a healthy one will spawn permanently under your command at the end of the turn. Enjoy :)
faceless is great in a slower meta-game where its likely you both have a board the problem is you have to play that rag have it survive then faceless it, if it survived they're pretty fucked anyway. As good as this idea looks on paper, i dont really agree with adding a faceless to this deck. However, if you really want to add in i suppose you could remove the Defender of Argus
Black Knight, Loatheb or add both the Feugen/Stallag
Wait a minute did you just take the deck i gave you Heart and do a writeup on it? lol nice job Kappa, but in all seriousness the decks decent ive used it to hit legend twice, its design was meant solely to crush hunters dreams of facerolling before the Buzzard/Leeroy nerf and takes inspiration from many similar Deathrattle Priest decks except with the thoughtsteals dropped to make more room.
Ive been experimenting with swapping out of the Defender of Argus 2nd Shadow Word: Death, Kel'Thuzad for more multi-minion removal/AoE like a 2nd Holy Nova or Shadow Madness or instead of the Rag/KT just a Mind Control or The Black Knight all seem like nice choices it just all depends on the daily meta.
Ive noticed with The Black Knight and Cabal Shadow Priest since theyre both situationally great and both 6 drops its likely best to cut a Cabal Shadow Priest for the BK otherwise you might have nothing to do and drop a 6 cost 4/5, Loatheb is a decent choice to go with too even over KT/Rag.
Keep an eye out on what you're seeing on the ladder a lot the day you're playing and adjust, personally lately i vs hunters atleast 40%-60% of the time depending on the day so its why im leaning towards more AoE.
If anyone has a favorite class they'd like help with attuning for ladder play or just wants to play a few games or help test some decks/matchups please go ahead and add me at Matrias#1130 on the US server. Ive been most recently testing Paladin/Warrior/Malygod Rogue/Handlock/Freeze Mage/Hunter(makes me sad and self loathing) with some success and failure, certain classes just feel like worse versions of other classes in a way.
On a random tangent side note don't just go and copy decks you see run in tournaments generally the lineup of decks are all attuned in different ways to give a better matchup vs different classes. One example is Shade of Naxxramas in paladin, its great in a tournament play where you've banned a likely aggro deck or have a deck you have to go up against the aggro deck hopefully taking it out so that your paladin can take out a heavy control deck.
LOL! Indeed i did Matrias ! the reason for this was i was seeing a lot of this deck completely net-decked and losing quite often because they did not adjust to what was going on in the meta or what was happening in ladder that day/night/whatever. Matrias is an EXCELLENT coach and has helped me be a little bit less nooby every day ;) i highly recommend asking him for some help if you feel the need, hes a wonderful guy and very good at teaching.
best of luck mates!
Haha yeah there are various cards you can replace in this deck for TBK besides Cairne if you like.
I took the base of the deck from him yes, the point of this post though is to really emphasize that this deck can be changed around for different play styles and also to suit what kind of decks you're running up against.
Brilliant, simple suggestions for possible changes and even improvements to the deck! +1
