UPDATED - 5 to Legend matchup tips.
Hi all!
Started actively playing on 18/12 from rank 12. On 22/12 started playing classic Spiteful Summoner Priest from rank 7. Became rank 2 on 24/12 and troubles started. Classic build is too weak against agro, especially AgroPal and Murloc Pal. Started research and finished with this build. Became legend on 25/12 with win streak from Rank 1 three stars:
Deck is extremely powerful with solid start and good late game. It has no bad matchups. Against Warlock, Pal, Hunter, Druid, Warrior keep small minions, against Mage, Priest , Rogue keep Spiteful Summoner and early game cards. Don't waste your dragons too fast - keep in mind that you should have one in hand to activate Duskbreaker and Drakonid Operative. DK is you mass removal when you lose table control. Mind Control is extremely powerful against Big Priest and Demonlock - just steal their Obsidian Statue or Voidlord and attack with lethal!
Few words against matchups that you will play against most on 5 to Legend ranks.
AggroPal (Murloc, Silver hand versions), AggroLoc, AggroHunter, AggroDruid - a lot of matches. Every second match will be against them.
Just keep taunts, cheap cards and Duskbreaker in opening hand. Don't play Faerie Dragon if you don't have another dragon in hand - keep in mind that you need a dragon in hand to activate Duskbreaker. Wait until you opp will spam the table and then use Duskbreaker. Congrats, you won!
Razakus Priest - every third match against them.
Keep Spiteful Summoner in opening hand. Try to kill opp as fast as possible. Don't lose your life - keep in mind that opp can deal up to 26 damage to you in one turn. Good targets for Mind Control: Priest of the Feast, Lyra the Sunshard. Anyway it's a good matchup, I've won 75% of all games against them.
Demonlock (CubeLock, Control Lock) - every 4th match against them.
Good mathcup. You can have problems only with Cube/Umbra/Doomguard combo - up to 20 dmg in your face if you have no taunts. Usually you just outvalue them and they die from no-cards-in-deck-damage. Kabal Songstealer shines in this matchup - silence their Possessed Lackey or Voidlord. Mind Control is a gem: steal their Voidlord to totally destroy their strategy.
Any Rogue - every 3rd match.
Rogues are autowin for this deck. Just control table, kill their minions. Try to get Vilespine Slayer from Drakonid Operative and use Mind Control on their Van Cliff.
Secret Mage - every 3rd match.
Close to autowin. Problems occur when they use Aluneth - try to kill them faster. Keep you health in 15+ range, kill their minions, attack them in face - you will definitely win!
Big Priest - one of 4-5 matches.
Good matchup. Play agressively, steal their Statues with MC.
Spiteful Summoner Priest - one of 4-5 matches.
DK shines here. If you see a lot of fat guys on opposite side of table - kill them all with Shadowreaper Anduin!
Here are all the decks that you'll meet in 5-Legend ranks. They all are winnable.
UPDATE: thanx to all for your comments and pluses. =) Try my new Druid deck, it's fun to play: Non-aggro non-Jade COMPETITIVE Druid.
Really fun deck, i love it
useless deck
You should not take 'every ...' literally. It's my personal observation on how often certain decks meet.
When I played this deck at the end of December season it felt the best choice for that days and it helped me to make Legend. Maybe nowdays it performs worse. But anyway it has good win percentage and is cheap in dust. Here are deck's stats:
STATS
Sure there's 9 classes, but the vast majority of decks being played right now are the 5 decks he listed. Like, at least 90%, probably more.
Since the ladder reset I can't remember playing anything else, but if you do run into something else it's like oh theyre playing something awful, great thanks for the ladder points.
Does not play at all. Every every will aggro deck fack you
useless deck vs aggro pally, u have only 2 aoe, u cant play around tarim.... i lose EVERY games vs aggro pally,
I lose every game vs Valira
Auto win versus any Rogue? Kingsbane mill Rogue handed me my ass...
But cool deck otherwise!
Keep your hand size small and you can deal pretty well, the vanishes can hurt and if you draw your big stuff early it's gg, but so long as they don't burn too many of your important cards they'll usually end up with a full hand and mill their kingsbane.
Thanks to the author for the deck. Love Priest! First lost game 3, then he can win windstrike!
Dragon Priest without Netherspite Historian? Are you mental?
This deck seems over rated. 3/8 at 15 so early days but it seems highly draw dependant. *shrug* And Agro pallies rip it apart.
The standard version of this deck is actually pretty good. I used it to go from 12- 5 in 3 days and i have only been playing this game from October this year. This version may not be exactly what i used but that shouldn't matter. If you are 3/8 i think you just need to learn the deck more and then you should be fine. I was having trouble wining at first too, then i just started going on back to back win streaks until i played an agro paladin without drawing Duskbreaker.
I did pretty well with this deck today. I sometimes miss having Netherspite Historian for the potential of having more Duskbreakers against aggro (fucking Pally aggro) and more dragon synergy-- I only won once against aggro pally and it made me wish I had more of them. Also, why is there only one Free From Amber? Thought having all for of the big spells would just guarantee synergy with Spiteful Summoner.
tbh I find the 8-cost summon more useful. I get yog a lot
Upvoted for sure, 8 cost pool has way better pulls than the 10s stat wise since the 10 costs are diluted with the giants and battlecry specific cards.
played against 9 aggro paladin and 3 tempo rogues in a row in 2-3, start playing this deck and just got exodia mage, jade druid and quest warrior ... FeelsBadMan
This deck is bonkers
Mulligan for Warrior pls?
You probably shouldn't kill a Warrior. I'm pretty sure they're listed as an endangered species.
(But seriously, at this point it's hard to know whether it's aggro or recruit, so it's hard to prescribe a mulligan. Just go for strong early game tempo and hope for the best.)
