The secret that remains secret
The Giant Rat found its way out of the Dungeon Run and now it's pissed
This seems like a bad replacement for cat trick.
Nope, it's definately better then Cat Trick. While cat trrick onle needs one card, it still needs to be a spell and you get a 4/2 card, which you can easily get rid of if you anticipate the secret which isn't hard since it is the only spell related secret from hunter.
On the other hand Rat Trap has a considerably bigger body and while at first glance it seems hard to proc, i assume its not that hard at all. Aggro decks very often play numerous cards during a turn until their hand is empty and at that point they usually want the game to be over.
Combo decks also often play several cards per turn against which the card might help you unless it is an OTK. And even against control decks it might help you getting rid of whatever they throw against you.
Cat trick typically happens sooner as not every deck can make three plays in one turn in the first six turns, but many will play a spell. Spell Hunter can be oddly reactive at the start, waiting for someone to attack to get their wandering monster, etc. I think cat trick is better and i think time will bear this out. This is really easy to play around, and people will trip it when they can deal with the rat.
This must be a Rogue card, because traps like this fits better to Rogue.
people who downrates this comment is idiot af
This card is absolutely perfect. This sort of effect is very strong, a 6/6 for two mana that your opponent will often not be prepared to interact with due to wasting several cards is incredible, yet the condition is difficult, and comes with a lot of interesting decision for your opponent when they try to play around it.
The card overall is likely not very strong, I highly doubt this will be an autoinclude in any hunter list, but that just makes it even better! If a card like this was common then it would instantly lose so much of what makes it special, but the icing on the cake is that this card has just enough power keep it from becoming an autoinclude (if the condition was 2 cards) and utterly trash (the rat had fair stats).
Easily my favorite card of the set and one of my favorite cards of all time, and likely the best designed card in all of hearthstone. Mark my words, this is a classic.
Hope new rogue secret will summon 7/7 rattrap:P
Hmmm....
Nvm
Counter for Dragon Spirit from Dragon Soul. But why?
This trap was supposed to catch rats... What a plot twist.
Valeera!

A Giant Rat!
Hoarding Dragon - activate your Scaleworm and Deathrattle: give your opponent 2 coins and summon a 6/6.
well I mean... I usually want 6/6 against decks that play 3 cards a turn anyway... Problem is if I don't draw it early they won't even have 3 cards in hand... And this just doesn't help against turn 6 Voidlord, though does trigger against turn 5 Voidlord, but doesn't really help still... Like ok I got my 6/6 against his 6/18 taunt, what do I do next?
Basically by the time some decks trigger it, 6/6 is a bit too late, and by the time others decks would trigger it you have not very high chance of actually having played it...
Interesting card and has a lot of potential. Opponent can't possibly play around every secret in the game, and possibly make a sup-optimal play due to playing around certain secrets (missing face damage to play around freezing/wandering, not swarming the board to play around explosive, etc.) Even if the opponent tested out each secret and finds out it is Rat Trick, and by that time the opponent probably made a couple sub-optimal plays to check secrets, shutting the opponent down to playing less than 3 cards a turn or dealing with a 6/6 is pretty powerful. Only problem I guess is Cat Trick is getting rotated out, which is a huge blow to spell hunter and secret hunter, but if the archetype survives then this card will certainly be experimented with.
Unique, interactive and seemingly control oriented. Love it!
I wonder if this works with Echo, since it is the same card technically...
They will almost certainly act as individual cards, much like if you were to use echo cards with Edwin VanCleef or Questing Adventurer; they will benefit from each individual card played.
Still waiting on defensive cards for mid-range Hunter to be usable. Otherwise we're just looking at weak spell hunters and smorc hunters.
Even if this card ends up seeing minimal play, it's a really good design. One important aspect about Hunter Secrets is that, most of them anyway, have such varied activation conditions that it's almost impossible to play around all of them at once. You want to play a cheap minion or spell first to play around Snipe or Cat Trick, but your opponent actually wants you to play around them so it's more likely that you activate this. After they've played around a lot of Secrets, which throws off their game plan, they will be befuddled as to what you have. When your opponent however does figure out you have Rat Trap, it basically restricts them from playing more than 2 cards per turn unless they're prepared to face a 6/6 Rat.
