Comparing this with Shooting Star, a card that did see plenty of play, makes this card look largely superior. But DH doesn't have access to spell damage like mage does, so .... I guess it's ok.

You don't need a Malygos. You need DH skull discount shenanigans with

Mo'arg Artificer + Ethereal Augmerchant + Felosophy, 

Even the garbage cards demon hunter gets are efficient X)
