Can this be nerfed to once per game? someone stole my whole hand and deck in a single game with this.
It is funny how outdated this card is and even funnier to everyone who thought this card to be OP when it first came out lol.
The number of required Pirates to be summoned is still ridiculous and I am guessing it is 8 mana solely because Blizzard refuses to rotate Shadowstep.
Mistermath's Card Ratings for Voyage to the Sunken City:
6/10
This card's pretty cool! In a pirate deck, this is an 8 mana 8/8 that either casts Mind Control, does a corrupted Tickatus-like effect that also adds those cards to your deck, or does a smaller Gloves of Mugging. All of these effects are really strong, and Hooktusk would be a great wincon if control rogue actually existed, ever, in the history of HS. Unfortunately, it doesn't, and having to play 8 pirates means that this is never going in a control deck, either, but rather a tempo pirate deck that isn't likely to play this on curve. Thus, while Pirate Admiral Hooktusk looks amazing (and still has great voicelines), it's just not going to see play.
Just came back to say I'm smashing decks because this beauty! 10-4 at diamond 2 from diamond 5
This is a really powerful 8 drop if you can get it online. The minion stealing effect is great tempo, and the hand stealing effect is great value and disruption. The fact that you can pick the one you need stops it from ever being a dead card. The potential to bounce it is noteworthy.
But 8 pirates is soooooo many. That new sunken vessel card can count as 4 potentially, and we have a 2/5 pirate that draws more pirates. I can see a world where this works but I wouldn’t bet on it. Maybe Bloodsail Flybooter and/or Raiding Party will be in the core set.
I think this one is dead on arrival. Warrior does Pirates better (admittedly, not seen the whole expansion yet) and has a whole wincon attached to them that comes down faster than this and even then it's not a great deck. Here we have the same deck restriction so that you can snatch two cards from opponent's hand on the 8th round at the earliest. To play 8 pirates, you need a lot more in your deck and then still draw this. I don't see it.
Now that's a real burgle rogue!
A dead one? As a huge fan of Rogue I will let you know the following:
In standard Rogue has no tools to survive and even excluding the fact that you need to fill ur deck with a shit ton of pirates and leave urself vulnerable to anything when u play this 8 MANA minion that does nothing, not even rush. Also and more importantly, questline hunter got even more support. Pirate warrior will still be strong if not stronger. What does Rogue has? A 5 mana pirate that u need to combo and put one of their minion at the bottom of their deck? Except if they give rogue a rare weapon 7-4 with lifesteal that costs like 3 mana or they put Reno Jackson and stealths in core, there is no way rogue can play this legendary with success. Will you win the periodic game against a super slow and suboptimal priest deck? Sure. Will you be able to climb? No. Will you have fun getting stomp by 90% of decks? Nope.
I don't care about meta decks. I'm here just to play cards that i like.
well, so far so good 3-0 vs new pirate warrior!
This card is nuts.. Finally some rogue good cards for wild 😍
Its super slow for wild. U need to summon 8 pirates, then draw the legendary which is one of, then spend 8 mana to play it leaving yourself vulnerable just to steal a couple random cards. Also thing that in order to activate it u need lots of pirates in ur deck so u wont have space for evasion, stealth, saps or vanishes in order to survive to turn 8-9 (assuming u still managed to summon pirates and got the legendary in hand). Rogue in wild has insane capabilities and this minion wont be of any help :D
This is one of those fun and interesting legendaries that could be either great or terrible. It'll both depend on how many good pirates Rogue is going to be able to play as well as what the meta looks like. Stealing one big minion or 5 cards from their deck could be good in a control focused meta, but not so much in an aggro focused one. I think steal 2 cards from hand is going to be picked most often, or steal 5 if you know they have some playmakers still in deck.
