If you look at the review video of the card where it is played you can see that the corruption is not simply a buff, so yes, silence won't work.
I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to dynamically change a minions base stats. Pre-changed Caverns below and more importantly bobs tavern already proofed it. The Jade cap is probably to preveant some coding-binary-voodo-curse. Kinda like the max attack/health is capped to prevent an Integer-overflow error.
Most likely it'll just cap at 30/30. You would have to generate additional cards to get higher anyway, on top of casting every other card in your deck. It's not like it'll get that high in normal gameplay.
In the Adventures they do generate cards with new stats (new cost, new base stats, etc..)
Pretty sure it's a new token every time. Not a buff.
There needs to be different art for every corrupted version up to 30.
Pretty easy to power it up. Sort of similar to Argent Braggart, but a little easier to play in a vacuum and more threatening in some situations.
Has a sort of similar problem to a lot of handbuff cards in that it needs to sit in your hand for a while, but it's great tempo.
Very interesting actually. Hold onto it just as you play the game and drop it late for cheap. Unfortunately it has to be in your hand the whole time.
So here's a thought, use Shadowstep on Horrendous Growth to make it 0 to cast/corrupt
Then every 1+ card, like say Pen Flinger (up for change) and recast makes it grow? Or does corrupt reset the cost somehow?
Sounds like a Questing Adventurer that's safe from removal until it has grown enough
Use it to power up Edwin VanCleef (time for HoF?) or drop it the turn after, could be quite interesting?
I think when it corrupts it will return to 2 mana cost, but it will have to be tested first.
Yes I doubt the card will take anything else than the original cost in for the effect.
Considering it costs 2 mana, it might be useable in some weird (probably mediocre) combo. I was thinking Soulbound AshtongueSilas Darkmoon Horrendous Growth Animated Broomstick but that's 11 mana and requires way too much setup. Cloning it somehow with Faceless Manipulator or the like could be decent. Basically, it's like a giant but instead of getting cheaper to play as the game goes on (generally), it gets bigger and keeps the same mana cost.
I'm not convinced it will be good enough to see play though considering how bonkers the last set and this one seem to be (the power of the cards is just WAY up there).
No. It can't be silenced.
Could be good in Arena
It likely won't be that good, since you typically value curve above everything else there. You can't afford to have a dead card sitting in your hand while you are trying to corrupt it.
Might be nice, since it can easily just be thrown as a 2-mana 2/2 for tempo if need be. However, it's at best just a big minion. Suppose on Turn 6 you play a 2-mana 6/6 and a 4-drop. I mean, it's a nice thing, but is it really worth a deck slot?
Probably a great Arena card, but Constructed I'm mixed.
And you would have missplayed already, you would first play the 4 drop then a 2 mana 7/7
He included the 4-drop -- that and the coin is the only way to get to 5 3+-cost cards by turn 6 (without using innervate or other mana-cards).
2/2 + 3 drop + 4 drop + 5 drop + 4 drop = 6/6.
Numbers in the preview video are white, so looks like it can't be silenced back to a 2/2 as it's basicly a new variant of the card each growth.
Unlike other handbuff cards like Blood Herald , where numbers are green.
Would likely also mean you get the big minion back instead of a 2/2 via sap/freezing trap/ressurect/reborn(1hp)/raisedead/new y'shaarj etc.
