Update 4:00 PM EST: Added tweet from Zeriyah about GvG announcement timing.
GvG Card Reveal: Bolvar Fordragon
Bolvar Fordragon beat Malganis in the last GvG Vote! Interesting mechanic!
Announcement to Come Ahead of Release
Zeriyah tweeted that an announcement will be made ahead of time for the release of Goblins vs Gnomes. Looking back at Naxxramas, we were given five days notice before the launch.
Quote from ZeriyahWe'll make an announcement of the release date ahead of time.
Card Clarifications
We've gone through Ben Brode's tweets to pull out his recent batch of card clarifications.
Quote from Ben Brode
- Bolvar Fordragon
- Increases in attack will display in your hand. (Source)
- Your opponent will have no indication of you having Bolvar. (Source)
- When silenced, Bolvar loses his attack buff. (Source)
- Bonus attack will reset upon being hit by Sap, Redemption, or Reincarnate. (Source)
- Bolvar is the only target which gains bonus attack, not the hero. (Source)
- Obtaining Bolvar directly from a player's hand, through a spell like Mind Vision, results in the clone being 1/7 even if the originating Bolvar is buffed. (Source)
- Druid of the Claw
- The summoned minions (Druid of the Claw & Druid of the Claw) will become Beasts when GvG is released. (Source)
- Druid of the Fang
- If it transforms, it turns into a Cobra, which is a Beast! (Source)
- Sabotage
- If you opponent has no minions, you can still cast it to destroy their weapon. (Source)
- Gelbin Mekkatorque
- Inventions summoned will all become Mechs. (Source)
- Feign Death
- Deathrattles are triggered, not removed. They will still go off should the minion die normally. (Source)
- Burly Rockjaw Trogg
- Casting Shadow Madness on the Trogg will steal it, and it will have +5 attack. (Source)
- Shadow Word: Pain + Trogg = Trogg dies. (Source)
Goblins vs Gnomes Information & Cards
We've launched a dedicated page for Goblins vs Gnomes which contains information on the expansion and has lists of all the new cards we've seen.
Judging by the art work of Bolvar, it looks like he's at the battle of the wrath gate already. Does that mean he becomes the Lich King card in the next expansion? ;)
Still no word from Blizzard. It would be nice if they could offer a product like a mature company every once in a while and give a solid release date. "Some time in December" while leaking cards the entire month leading up to December, and ending the day prior to an extended maintenance and it's not even being released. Why leave paying adults guessing at the release date for this? If you don't know when you're going to release it, why even tease it until you're 100% sure it's ready for action? Finish it first, then tease it and release on a publicly known date. None of this cat and mouse bullshit.
Let's apply logic here.
There are two possible methods. Yours (finish, tease, release) and Blizzard's (tease, finish, release). The day the game is finished is static in both examples. For example purposes, let's say that day is December 15th. When December 15th comes with your method, we would still have to wait through another 3 weeks worth of teasing before the game was released. Under Blizzard's model, they can immediately release on December 15th because all the teasing is already done.
What kind of crackjob are you that you would ask for a delayed product just so you can get a solid date?
Best card in the game OFC/ Wanna see PVP VS Baron Rivender. 7 turn
Why would that make you sad? I think it is rather awesome how they aren't Beasts until after you play them. Ancestor's Call and Alarm-o-Bot would put them on the board without becoming Beasts.
Blizzard is very good at this.
Keeping us waiting...
I like that Druid will have more beasts, now they just need a way to steal some of the hunter cards
Time for some Lorewalker Cho action !
Trogg will have 5 attack total, not +5 attack (i.e. 8 attack).
People are definitely over-valuing this card, particularly now that we know it can be silenced. It's not awful, but it's dreadfully slow, doesn't do anything the turn you play it, and must be one of the worst top-deck legendaries in the game.
Now... People u noobs will think this card is good and u guys who think ur not noobs will think its bad BUT! its good im a legend player and this card is good in the same way tirion is.. tirion can be silenced so can this card but its the fact the theres so many cards u need to silence in hearthstone even more with gvg that this card will sometimes end games just think about how many guys die from 1 to 5, turn 2 recruit, 3 muster, for recuit, hes a 6/7 for 5 so a orge for 1 less which is a huge deal and he eats a silence for the gg card tirion so he is really good
And hes good against aggro because hes got high health and a lowish cost so he can deal with a lot of small guys
It's nowhere near as good as Tirion though. It's an okay card, but it's just that, okay. It barely feels like a Legendary.
Threads like this remind me that probably 90% of the players of this game are absolutely terrible.
I see
To everyone squawking about how it's a silence-able card, realize that it's a 5-drop! It's a great early hard removal target, and can even be modified to be un-controlled by Priest if you get it out with 4 attack.
Although at that rate, I guess you could simply stock your deck with Feugen and not even bother... Hmmmm... Decisions, decisions. Definitely a card I'd enjoying playing around with.
my new priest deck post-GvG: run 2 silences, two mass dispels, two owls, and two spellbreakers.
But seriously, silence value has gone way up
Ben Brode put Bolvar Fordragon and Mal'Ganis in the same tier... So, now I'm lowering my expectations for Mal'Ganis. :(
Both mal'ganis and bolvar are in his top 5 favorite GvG cards. That has no indication of whether mal'ganis is going to be good or bad.
this card is too situational.
grabage imo for a legendary
It seems like the kind of card that makes you have to bait out silences before you play. Even if you can't, it soaks a silence that would normally go for Tirion, so it is pretty good overall I'd say.
