The Dalaran Heist - Adventure Launches May 16
Blizzard has announced new details on the upcoming Great Dalaran Heist adventure.
- Launches May 16!
- Wings cost 700 gold each, first is free. Whole adventure should be $20 USD.
- Like Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt in format but loads of more content / features.
- Challenge defenders of Dalaran that sit between you and your job.
- The second chapter can be purchased right away after completing the free first chapter.
- The chapters after 1 & 2 will be unlocked on a weekly basis.
- Hero Powers get unlocked through mini-quests such as Freeze 30 minions or Draw 100 cards.
- You can remove cards from your deck at a Dalaran Tavern during your run as well as modify your deck with special gold coins.
- Each wing has a special passive effect active. Anomaly mode makes these randomized.
Next week, on May 14 & 15, there will be a special event where some pros get to play the adventure early.
Chapters
- Dalaran Bank
- The Violet Hold - Imprisoned Minions, join the fight later
- Streets of Dalaran
- The Underbelly - Swaps Attack and Health of all minions

Fun factor makes things almost if not definitly worth it.
There is of course the potential entertainment value of the content itself. But whether that's worth it to you is your decision.
For me it's like going to watch a movie or something, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get more than two hours of solid entertainment out of it, plus the packs.
I agree on that totally. i enjoy HS quite a lot (otherwise I wouldn't be here :D), but still.... I could get it only on a different server, enjoy the fun, but that would then feel kinda wrong....
So it costs money but there are no new cards as rewards? Seriously?
it doesn't cost money nessecerily..u can buy it with gold
And yet if you go back a few years, you can find the exact opposite of this comment. Having all the new cards locked behind a paywall also upset people with Blackrock, League and Kharazan.
actually, you could buy the old adventures with gold. and I for one think that the old adventures were great for F2P players. the entire expansion only cost you 3500 gold. that is a lot better than what an expansion would cost you.
but this is not good for F2P players because you are not getting very good value for your gold. you could buy 28 packs with this, instead of 13 packs and a legendary that will not help you climb.
Rakanishu? Diablo folks are dropping into HS now
I wouldn't say 'now'. Rakanishu has been around in HS since K&C. He's King Togwaggle's 'candle'.
Yeah. Highmountain kobolds sometimes yell "Rakanishu!" in combat, as a reference to the Diablo character, so Hearthstone got it from them.
Except it's 3 RoS packs per wing.
Mr. Chu will take revenge
Thanks - good luck with your packs too.
I meant that the later release of the content means many players will have stopped buying packs and started crafting needed cards from RoS. The packs rewarded from the content would have been better in my view if available upon expac launch. The premium you are paying for them might have been worth it for me at that stage (maybe).
The primary obstacle for me saving 2800 for 12 packs (that I don't really need at this stage) is that I'm at 700 gold or so after spending everything on RoS packs, and really need to get saving for next expac packs likely released perhaps less than 3 months from now :)
Of course I *could* spend it on the single player content, but the return (at least for me) is much less than buying next expac packs is going to be.
That said, we all have a choice, and I'm certainly not claiming the 2800 gold needed for PvE is out of reach should that be a players priority. I'll enjoy Trump messing it up on Youtube with some epic Jens editing instead :P
Finally. And it looks very promising!
Unlocking the hero powers are like achievements. Being able to modify your deck is very good. The inability to do so in the previous dungeon run/monste hunt made it extremely annoying at times. Also that there is a random starting deck option is good. And lastly the anomaly mode sounds really fun.
The only thing that might be bad is that there probably is no endless mode. Sometimes I made a great deck in dungeon run/monster hunt and gotten through all the fights, but that's then it and if I want to play more I have to restart from the very beginning. And maybe the deck modification isn't good enough. It's hard to say from this preview.
Overall it looks amazing and is totally worth the price. I think I will have a lot of fun with it. Considering the anomaly mode, different hero powers, and randomized starting decks I really think this also adds a lot of replayability. I'm very excited!
So there is only single player content this year with these 5 wings over the next month and that is it? Nothing for expansion 2 and 3?
where did you get that idea?
I respect that you've balanced your grievances with some logical considerations and I think what you've said is quite fair, for the most part Only thing I'd say though is of they're releasing each wing as a staggered launch, what stops f2p saving up and getting it? There's 6 days until release and then a wing per week If you have 0 gold and average 60 gold per day (low reward quest and 3 wins, I'm trying to low ball it here) then you will have 13 days until the first, paid wing launches. That should give you 780 gold, enough to buy the next wing and have 80 spare. If you continue on that average, you'd still be able to buy a wing every 2 weeks and have gold to spare. You'll continue to get free packs via the adventure as well as free cards and stash some cash away for the next expansion.
Obviously that all gets a tok easier if you average more than 60 gold per day which really isn't unrealistic
I hope you get to enjoy the content, even if it's behind the launch dates. If you don't and you save all good for packs, I wish you luck with your packs.
Double dipping? What do you even mean? They added a free expansion, took away cards the community has cried about for months, rotated the entire meta and gave away free cards and packs. None of the released expansion to date had to be paid for. They then look to have added a significant amount more than previous pve content. They are likely looking at bridging the gap between expansions so there is more content throughout the 4 months to keep things fresh.
Why shouldn't it be a dlc add on? Given that the game is free to play? They need to make money, hit targets and pay their bills.
Basically, you're a fucking clown. Think before you post and save us the pain of your pitiful contributions.
Out of interest, do you work? If so, what is it you do?
$20, and no cards? Or is the post seriously leaving out the most pertinent part?
15 packs, a golden classic pack, and a golden wihzbang like legendary.
