two things wrong with this post:
1.) saying a card is trarsh before all cards have revealed and no idea what the meta is like.
2.) Hoping Kingsbane Rogue does well
I'm a little suprised at all the negativity. Many of the comments are focusing on the fact that it has bad stats and the deathrattles it can pick up are, on average, not that good. But it also dicovers a card to add to your hand! You're playing 5 mana for 1) deathrattle effect, the value of which can vary from bad to over 5 mana (e.g. Mechanical Whelp, Silver Vanguard), 2) discovering a death rattle card, which is worth around 1 mana, and 3) a 4-2 body, which is worth around 2.5 mana.
This card has variance, but my bet is that the variance tends to be at around 5 or mana mana's worth. And even if it's not competitive (deathrattle rogue is not a thing), it certainly looks like a fun deck that I'll take to casual when I'm sick of laddering.
The biggest reason why people are complaining about the stats is because Hearthstone as of now isn't a value game, it's a tempo game. Rarely there will be a card that will slip by that is more value based, such as Ultimate Infestation but the only reason why is because Druid is so bent around getting early game tempo (or just delaying the game with Spreading Plague). Unfortunately, Rogue isn't really able to afford playing a low-tempo card right now in the current meta, hence why Miracle Rogue, despite still having a high kill potential at pretty much all time, isn't seen anywhere in the meta. Sure you can get a strong deathrattle, but unless the minion you picked can also be played and have some form of proactive play, you still are going to get behind and your opponent can most likely just ignore the card.
But yeah though the card does look fun, but not strong enough to be fit in any current form of rogue (or any that might rise up for that matter, atleast from the cards we've seen so far).
Why? Whyyy thay hype?? Why??
There is already a 5 mana 5/3 with rush that makes you draw a combo card from your deck (MUCH BETTER THAN RNG DISCOVER A CRAP DEATHRATTLE) and it doesnt see play. Why this would do???
If you need a reason to feel happy for yourself for spending 80 bucks in a game this card is not your friend
First, Cursed Castaway is a 5 damage removal plus draw a combo piece, and 6 mana, not 5. This generates a deathrattle onto your board and a deathrattle card, which can have very different effects than 5 direct damage. Combo cards and removal are for tempo. Deathrattle on board and deathrattle card generation is for value. I wouldn't make that comparison.
Who hurt you? You're all over the comment section of this card attacking people for seeing some potential in this card. Ever hear of ad hominem logic fallacy? Google it.
NOT EVERY CARD HAS TO BE VIABLE. I want fun cards. I want cards like Lynessa Sunsorrow, because quest paladin happens to be one of my favorite decks. I want cards like Tess Greymane because they make games interesting. I would take this card for a ride in wild fatigue N'zoth rogue, not because it's good, but because it's fun. So yes, this card, if I open it, would be my friend.
Edit: Take a look at how Echo replied to my comment. That's how you discuss and debate about a card. Not accusing people of spamming zoolock to legend or pre-ordering (because apprently both of those things are worthy of being judged badly for)
How is this card fun? It's effect is boring and predictable comparing to let's say Lilian Voss. It offers no synergies to build deck around. It doesn't create huge swings or wacky situations.
This is me personally speaking, but I find discover to be a fun mechanic (it allows me to play cards that most people would never put in a deck, e.g. Arfus), and I like deathrattle rogue, and generally any random value generator (e.g. Sindragosa, I just love to see what legendaries I get from it). And the deathrattle variance, although not huge, can be pretty interesting. To me, this is a fun card, but for most people, it may not. To each their own.
It's a 6 mana 5/3 that draws a card with the combo keyword.
This is a 5 mana 4/2 that gains a deathrattle and generates a deathrattle card.
How are these cards comparable?
Good chance Tess is gonna be cancer in this expansion, I can see now why they tried to nerf her.
Since when do we judge cards with text only based on the attack and health? If this is the case why did a 5 mana 3 3 see a ton of play?
That costs too much. 4 mana would still be kinda bad.
Magic exists for many years and they release more hundreds of cards per year than HS and the game is fresher than ever. Same might happen to HS if they keep their head straight
Well, if it's true that you play Magic that I doubt it, you will see that they can achieve that by REPEATING the cards and even with less powerlevel. Even the planeswalkers are the same with the same effects. If you say that Magic is fresher than ever, obviously you havent played it when it was EPIC back in time
Check, kid
didn't see that initially, thanks for pointing it out.
Decent card, but pretty much a deck filler with no precise synergy...
Love the effect, the card can have some potential... but wouldn't be better if the deathrattle was secret like Fatespinner ?
This way your opponent won't know which card you discovered unless you play it or the deathrattle triggers maybe (and vice-versa, they'll know the deathrattle once you play the card)
Disappointing
Oh well. i can imagine only one non(yet) existing good deck, what can support Myra. Deathrattle rogue.Blizzard time to time making cards to make it happen, but without N'zoth? Spellstone is powerful, for real, but do you really need it? Also Deathrattle rogue IMO Lack win conditions. Maybe some Kingsbane shenanigans? Who knows....
Dude, cards have been steadily increasing in power for the entire lifecycle of Hearthstone. And this card is not bad.
5 mana 4/2
Even without being paid you won't play this trash (well it doesnt matter you will keep spamming zoolock to get legend fast like the rest of the community)
