This card is a brutal punish for bittertide hydra, a buff for scavenging hyena, pairs great with crackling razermaw, Leokk, and dire wolf, is a great zombeast component, and allows the hunter player to fill the board on late turns with only one low cost card. Draw any other two cost minion with an empty hand on turn ten and you basically lose, but this one allows you to establish a new threat to be dealt with.
It's also an unleash the hounds that you can play regardless of your opponents board,
No, it's not great for a pure face hunter, but Hearthstone has been moving away from that since Ungoro, with the legendaries pushing spell hunter, DK's, big beast hunter, deathrattle hunter...basically everything but face hunter. Hunter needs a lot of help, as only spell hunter is mildly viable at the moment, but this is in my opinion an above average card.
How is this a "Brutal punish" For bittertide. Let's say they play it on turn 5 on an empty board, you want to run 2 or 3 (depending on if you have 5 or 6 mana) of these shitters in there? Giving the board away completely an they are still hitting you for 8 developing again and with an extra 8/2 on board...
9 Damage, yeah but as you said this card does not go in a face deck, you need board control. and 2 mana Anduin hero power does not cut it when you have to pay a card to use it.
it is a garbage card for me but with zombeast it is generate double value
not sure echo is a good mechanic in wild for hunter considering their are multiple cards where you have to have an empty hand to trigger an effect which hunter benefits from. Echo makes these cards literally worthless.
I am waiting for a 2 drop that can be played on curve, that would really enable even-costed Hunter (I love the idea tho)

As a Hunter, I don't think you can afford to spend an entire turn clearing the opponent's board without developing your board.
Like Unleash the Hounds, this benefits from auras like Timber Wolf/Leokk. It is more flexible than Unleash the Hounds/Deadly Shot (eg. Can be played for Tempo on an empty board), but alot weaker for the same purposes.
i don't think this is something you'd include in your deck, but something you'd be happy to find off Discover effects, and is especially powerful when paired with other low Cost minions with Deathstalker Rexxar (eg. Timber Wolf, Ironbeak Owl, Cave Hydra).
I just wish it was a 1-Cost 1/1 instead. That would be more flexible, alot more powerful with auras, and could potentially single-handedly make the Quest Hunter archetype viable.
1-cost 1/1 would be too powerful, it would effectively be a better version of Unleash the Hounds (except in rare cases where opponent has a full board). I think you're also forgetting about the synergy with Stampede here. This card is designed to fill a niche, get you out of that situation where you have an empty hand and need more board presence. We all know this happens to hunters often, and Zombeast technically fills a similar niche later.
When I look at this card, I see a Forbidden Flame that can be split to multiple targets. Shame that Hunter is much less able to take advantage of that sort of thing than Mage is...

To me, it seems rush will be used as much as inspire was.
... and then they'll remove the keyword altogether, before printing more of 'hem ^^
I don't think they're trying for this to be heavily used, but to not make any charge minions in the future.

Inspire never saw play because it was slow tempo to begin with, having to hero power with cards that generally had weak stats to start.
Rush seems to be much more cost-effective in terms of mana and fights for board more aggressively.
Just because they print weak rush cards doesn't mean the mechanic won't see play, we've already seen an insane rush card in Militia Commander, just wait for more cards to be revealed.
Yeah... more or less. Rush is not slow but still understatus. It reminds me when I was new in HS and wolfrider was soooo better than spider thank, just because I had to wait 1 turn to attack xD
Although rush looks effective in some way it's actually just a removal in form of minion. Militia commander is at best 4 mana 5/5 and at worst 4 mana 2/5... which is not that bad but is not good enough
No. Only the original hunting mastiff will be discounted, echo copies will maintain original cost (2)
Does anyone know if these can go face if Tundra Rhino is in play?
I Feel like the mastiff will have both rush and charge, but the rush effect will prevent the mastiff from going face.
