Hearthside Chat: Even & Odd w/ Dean Ayala - Four New Witchwood Cards Revealed
March 26th certainly has come early. Four new cards were revealed alongside a video today where Dean Ayala talks about Even & Odd cards in Hearthstone. Mike Donais has further confirmed that not every class is getting a card which works with even or odd cards. (Source)

Umm, Shaman's first beast card *ever*. My interest is slightly piqued now.
If they lean on this too much my hype for this expansion will break
Agree, it's a neat concept... but hasn't sold me yet. Hopefully there is some other keywords or direction as well. It is only 10-11 cards of 130, so I am hopeful at least!
They said there will be only a few even/odd synergy cards and not all classes will get one.
They've almost certainly announced all the new keywords already, but of course there are different directions in the expansion. Did they make every card in Mean Streets "no duplicate" themed, just because they released several "no duplicate" cards?
Big meme expansion is coming...
I'm not feeling hyped :(,
please nerf Naga Sea Witch, Barnes and Call to Arms first :( :(
I'll have to wait and see more of the Even / Odd cards to determine viability. Right now, I think the concept is not as powerful as the current "One of" style. At least in "One of", you can curve out fairly well. By skipping either odd / even, I could see where a poor mulligan or draw would probably make you pass a turn here or there on 3 or 4 with nothing more than a hero power.
Who knows, I'm sure they have several other iterations that make it pan out?
Only questionable card I see here is the cat. The spell damage is nice. Problem is, most if not all of mage's standard burn spells are even costed. What does mage have when you take out frostbolt, fireball, and pyroblast? Arcane missiles is the only spell I can come up with at the top of my head that's odd costed. Even blizzard and meteor are even spells.
So if we want to draw a card, we cant run burn for a card that gives spell damage to burn spells? WTF blizzard?
In wild its a different story, as at least you have torch and arcane blast. But in standard this card is not so good.
The other cards are great though. Can't wait to have fun with the priest beast. =D
well, you always can have it just like a spell damage option for your deck like bloodmage thalnos or the zelot, but with a good body to trade if you are against a agro minion based deck, Cult Sorcerer get used in tempo and control non-C'Thun decks just for that reason
We have only seem 10 cards, is more than likely that they thought about the even costed spells for Mage.
Dragon synergy aside, Azure Drake had worse stats than Black Cat, and that saw so much play that it had to be HoF, so...
Not really, at the time a 4/4 body with draw at 5 mana was pretty much unparalleled, The five mana spot was not taken by other cards of the same cost because of its power. The 3 drop spot is pretty crowded as is. Besides that, Azuredrake always has draw while the cat only does if you limit your deck in a way that you have to skip: Frostbolt, Primordial Glyph, Fireball, Polymorph, Molten Reflection, Blizzard, Meteor and Pyroblast. At the same time Volcanic Potion, Firelands Portal and Cabalist's Tome gets rotated. They are going to have to print 4-5 spectacular mage spells at an odd cost for this card to be equal or better than Azuredrake.
While all good points, I was pointing out that if you actually decided to build around it, that a 3/3 body with draw at 3 mana is better than a 4/4 body for 5 mana...
Also, off the top of my head, Breath of Sindragosa and Dragon's Fury are not terrible.
Still waiting for rouge's 1 drop minion since the next expansion is gonna rotate out both Swashburglar and Bladed Cultist
Upgrading hero power does nothing with DK :( Druid DK hero power can be stronger than the upgraded one.
Except upgrading the hero power happens EVERY GAME, while you definitely do not draw the Death Knight every game. Why not both?
I am going to laugh my ass off when even and odd decks become top tier because blizzard knows they need to support and give classes more removal/key cards to make these decks good. They might seem bad now, but I'll be laughing as you claim that these even and odd decks need a nerf.
most people claim those decks to be worth it and atrong only shortsighted people dissmiss them
I'm pretty sure you get one of the two legendaries from the single player content. Much like we got one legendary for each of the past expansions, a Quest, a DK and a Weapon. So why not get an Even or Odds Leg for this one :)
