The Witchwood is Hearthstone's Next Expansion
The first expansion of the Year of the Raven has been announced! Six new cards have been revealed. You can pre-order the expansion on Battle.net right here.
- The expansion releases mid-April.
- New Keyword: Echo - These cards can be cast multiple times in the same turn.
- New Keyword: Rush - These minions can attack other minions the same turn they are played. Charge but not overpowered!
- Monster Hunt - Four unique heroes in a new version of Dungeon Run.
- Pre-order - Contains 70 card packs for the price of 40. You also get a card back.
- 135 new cards - No surprises there!
- Free stuff - Logging in when the expansion arrives gives you three free card packs and a random Class Legendary card.
- A new Shaman Hero Card, "Hagatha", is seen briefly at the end of the video. Ben Brode confirmed that this is the only Hero Card in this expansion. (Source)
- Every class will be getting 2 Legendary cards this expansion. (Source)
Press and members of the community will begin revealing The Witchwood cards starting March 26 PDT!
You can find the official Hearthstone page for The Witchwood here.
New Cards
The cards are not yet in our database. We're working on getting the site ready for the new expansion.
- The Hero Power upgrade from Baku the Mooneater is the same as the one from Justicar Trueheart. (Source)
Card Backs
There are two new card backs. The first is available with the expansion pre-order and the second is a reward from Monster Hunt.
Monster Hunt
- Works like Dungeon Run in that you play a hero against bosses and build a deck as you progress.
- Does not use normal Hearthstone heroes, this has four unique characters.
Below are pictures of the Cannoneer, Houndmaster, Time Tinkerer, and Tracker heroes from Monster Hunt.
New Gameboard
As always, Hearthstone is getting a new game board with the expansion.
SHAMAN IS BACK BOIZ :D Trust me
Anyone else realize that justicar is even and raza is odd? That would mean that either deck could get both bonuses
It is dissapointing that so many people have asked whether 0 is even or odd. They skipped their first grade math lessons to play hearthstone!
0-0=00*0=00.912-0 then zero is almost mana for yogg
dont need to thank
So impatient to play this new mechanic odd/even deck
HYPE?!
So Charge is now rush. Oh the irony
it's still a lot more balanced than actual charge, hell the game would be way better if they reworded every charge minion to rush,
Don't forget that Militia Commander is warrior class card..
Azalina seems underwhelming, but it might be pretty great in hunter. Because (I'm assuming) it doesn't replace your cards with other cards, but rather your entire hand, suddenly a 2-3 card hand (and hunter runs out of steam by turn seven anyway) becomes possibly a large hand with potential card draw, hunter's biggest weakness. Obviously if the meta becomes hardcore aggro it's useless, but if it stays control based, hunter might be able to throw it in and suddenly turn a hard to win late game into a whole second wave of power (not to mention if you just pull some fireballs or something you can finish off an opponent that otherwise could escape lethal range. Something to think about
wot
how long does pre-order take?
Up until the release date.
Charged Devilsaur got NERFED?
All in all, definitely climbing on board the hype train. I like the look of the new board. The pre-order card back is nice, but I actually like the Monster Hunt one better. And the cards released seem novel thus far.
While I am probably among the shittiest of Warrior players, I do hope that what they've previewed is a good sign of things to come. They need to get off the bottom of the barrel.
Echo as a keyword looks pretty fun. It definitely adds a new layer of considerations at mid to late game when you think that your opponent is lower on resources. But then, I'm not sure a triple-echoed 3 drop equates to a 9 drop, which it shouldn't. We'll see if it actually helps or makes a difference.
Also, 20 free bonus packs makes this pre-order look even more enticing. Super hyped about that.
