Patches the Pirate Loses Charge - Four Card Nerfs Coming in February
Four cards are being nerfed! These changes are not yet live and will be available in a February patch. They will all be disenchantable for their full value once to patch arrives. Please do not disenchant these cards until that patch - Blizzard won't help you out get the correct dust value.
- Bonemare now costs 8 mana, up from 7.
- Corridor Creeper now has 2 attack, down from 5.
- Patches the Pirate no longer has charge. His voice line will also be changing. (Source)
- Raza the Chained's effect now sets your Hero Power to 1 mana, up from 0.
We've got dedicated threads available to discuss each card nerf.

Quote from BlizzardIn the upcoming 10.2 update, we will be making balance changes to the following cards:
Bonemare - Now costs 8 mana. (Up from 7)
Bonemare has been quite strong in both constructed and Arena. It has a big, immediate impact on the board, and since it’s neutral, it’s been finding its way into a wide variety of decks.
Increasing its mana cost by 1 will give opponents more time to utilize powerful late-game cards to counteract Bonemare’s effect on the board.
Corridor Creeper - Now has 2 Attack. (Down from 5)
Due to the way that Corridor Creeper’s mana cost reduction works, it can cause big swings based on whether or not it happens to be in-hand at the start of the game.
Since it’s a very strong neutral card, Corridor Creeper has been played by a lot of classes. By lowering its attack, we reduce the overall swing potential and power level of the card, but still allow players who draw it early to benefit from having a low-cost minion to play when the game state is ideal.
Patches the Pirate - No longer has Charge.
As we move closer to the new Hearthstone Year, we had some concerns about allowing Patches to remain in his current state after moving out of Standard. Patches’ strength has caused almost every class to add some Pirates just to benefit from him, and his early game power forces control decks to include a good answer to him. This change should give Wild players more flexibility when building their decks.
Removing Charge will lower his power level, ensuring he shows up in fewer decks and allowing opposing players some additional time to respond to Patches, making him less “in charge” of the early game.
Raza the Chained - Now reads: Battlecry: If your deck has no duplicates, your Hero Power costs (1) this game.
In a similar vein to Patches the Pirate, we had some concerns about allowing Raza to remain in his current state forever. Raza is currently an important combo piece along with Shadowreaper Anduin, and can lead to games that rely heavily on drawing him by turn 5. Adjusting his Battlecry will lower his overall power level when combined with Shadowreaper Anduin in Standard, and keep his power level reasonable in Wild as we prepare for the new Hearthstone Year.
Once these card changes are live with Update 10.2 next month, players will be able to disenchant the changed cards for their full Arcane Dust value for two weeks. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you in the tavern!
It is a big nerf. Patches has won me a ton of games with the charge and pirate tag. If you get patches out on turn 1 and coin Captain, it's basically gg if the opponent has no clears.
Dear Blizzard.....
Where have you been for the last two years? Why are you soooooo late to the party with all of these changes and why are half of these changes relevant right before rotation? Don't get me wrong I think the creeper and Bonemare nerfs are still relevant but.... where the hell have you been and why did these take so long to move on?
Golden Raza nerfed? 3200 dust ez
The amount of times I've forgotten to attack with Patches when summoned from the deck (I blame my end turn apm.. valid excuse? No? Ok) and still be "a good thing to happen" proves that Patches still can be and probably will be a viable option for a set amount of decks.
Cubelock will domiate the meta.....I like it :D
A bit late with Patches and Raza, no? Just two months untill they disappear in vain (wild) they get nerfed.... So Blizzard made us survive this pain for almost two years... Doesn't feels good man..
It is painful, I agree, but look at it like we got to use the cards for free for the last 2 years and now they're paying us back with dust for putting up with it.
Im on 25+k dust right now and im not going to de any of mentioned cards. So they can keep this dust for themselves and return me back my nerves and refund my frustration from playing versus cancerous always bming no-brain pirate-tempo warriors and rogues, agro paladins and druids, raza-on-5 priests etc.
This is ridiculous to make op card unplayable right before they all will move to forever-unplayable wild.
rip my favorite priest deck
i'm legit sad right now
I haven't been this happy in a good while. These changes were exactly what I wanted. I'm especially surprised and glad that they nerfed Patches, since Blizzard usually doesn't like nerfing cards that are about to rotate. For some reason most people also don't understand how harmful it is to wild. Some people also complain about corridor creeper now being dead even though it's still good in Hunter and Evolve Shammy. Corridor creeper was never meant to be an auto-include in all decks. The Raza change is also very good in my opinion, since a lot of the suggestions people have been making just make the card too complicated, and Blizzard isn't about that. So to summarize: Thank. You. Blizzard.
Highlander priest got a huge nerf :D nice i hated priest in the meta right now and since the last changes so i m glad. Corridor Creeper is good to nerf, i think it still not that bad, but we will see. I would like to have patches with battlecry charge, otherwise this card is nearly useless when you draw it :(
That Corridor Creeper nerf is delicious. I hate that card. Also Patches the Pirate. Enjoy Unplayable Hell.
I know right ? yay 2 months of fucking cubelock and demonlock, its gonna be GREAT !
Are you implying that both those cards stopped cube/demon lock or that cube/demonlock needs a nerf too? Because if it's the former, you're wrong. If the latter, then I agree.
They did kind of beat him tho, quite hard actually. After hellfire dropping 2 5-5s was RLY good
Nearing the new year in Hearthstone Patches the Pirate and Raza the Chained will go wild and it will now be recrafting at full price, thank you Blizzard,
por que mierda no nerfearon a CUBELOCK.
+2400 ayy
2400? Patches the Pirate and 2 Corridor Creeper
Whatever, no point in voice an opinion when everyone here is such an expert. That's why I stopped posting here Months back..
