OK, I get it.
I don't like random spells for mages any more than you guys do, but that's kinda the current class design they are going for. They are trying to fix it by constraining the design now. First you need to have a minion heavy deck with elementals to get more spells, therefore you won't have that many spells to play with anyway.
Second they are fixing the biggest flaw of this kind of mechanic: Arena!
It is very hard to get the number of elementals you want and have this at your hand to make this really strong and the biggest problem with random spells was in arena and not in constructed where mages had everything all the time and nobody else had.
I don't like the mechanic, believe me, but at least I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that "this can be good/fun if constrained". Let's give them some credit, try and see it after the rotation next year.
Seeing as this is the only card that gives random Mage spells in this rotation block besides Shimmering Tempest, it looks like Blizzard is trying to make Elemental Mage the random Mage deck for now, which is a pretty cool thematically.
The real question is is Elemental Mage going to be good.
Elemental mage is already not bad with the right cards, hopefully more elementals this expansion
Now we need to play around every Mage spell for one more year.

At least you're incentivized to build around elementals (or at least run enough to get to the second level bonus) instead of just jamming this into any Mage deck.

If they ever do that, it will become a bad card game for me...
I Like random decks, they make The game more fun you can get bad and good stuff. If they removed randomness everything would be perfectible and booring therefor will they never remove random as a keyword
I prefer a game where the goal is to have fun instead of "have to win".
For me HS is not a competitive game. It's a sand box where you can experiment with hundreds of card and have a lot of fun.
HS is for me a relaxing game.
I understand the philosophy of "winning" but in this game it leads to a lack of creativity. People only use "good decks and cards" and don't touch the "bad" cards.
Removing the random factor of cards will kill the purpose of the game for me.
Gimmick and "random" card is all I ask to HS. ;)
But everyone enjoy the game for different reason.
they have to be random because THERE ARE NO ISNTANTS NOR TRAP CARDS (secrets suck) NOR DECLARING BLOCKING IN THIS GAME, if there wasn't a random chance to do something this game would be an ever mroe aggro fiesta that it already is and has been forever.
total random is fun
target random is (kinda)fun
but DISCOVER LEGENDARY from OUT OF MY JUNGLE is not fun
Trust me
so you prefer get +4/+4 and 5/5 body for 7 mana than a random factor that you can blame because it's not your fault to lose to?
