Valeeraonly posted a message on This community hates rogue so much more than Blizzard ever didPosted in: General DiscussionLet me start by saying that I, as a Rogue player, appreciate the time and work you put into writing this. It is a perfect example of coherence and perfectly constructive argument which will bring something to the table when discussed, with just the right mix of subjectivity and emotions to make it enjoyable to read and at the same time worthy of an answer. And by answer I mean a not necessarily pragmatic one. I will try to put my thoughts on Rogue as best as I can because your point deserves more than 'OP NEVER PLAYED ROGUE' or 'OP IS STUPID'.
For the sake of argument, I'm going to make 2 assumptions:
1. You are a good Rogue player that has achieved the golden hero portrait and know what you are talking about and loves the class.
2. You are a Masochist.
Point 1 cannot exist without point 2. One thing in common all passionate and dedicated Rogue players have (in this Meta especially) is that we love to be at a disadvantage. Let's look at Miracle Rogue (yup, this again); the win condition is to quickly cycle through the deck and win with a large burst of damage. Pretty simple right? We all know in practice this is not the case because sometimes we simply can't get to the dream turn, which is often stealthed Auctioneer (but not always) surviving or Emperor discounting our Malygos (this is actually all you need to win with Malyrogue).
In both situations, this can only happen if:
A) We achieved board control with Backstab, SI:7 Agent and Prep, in other words through Tempo.
B)We are behind, but manage to pull a comeback.
It is painfully clear that A is the best situation to be in, but this applies to ANY OTHER CLASS OR DECKS out there, so for the purpose of keeping this short I will ignore it for the time being. I will, however, talk about tempo as it is relevant to the next point and why I (personally) believe Rogue mechanics and decks are a breeding ground for Masochists. I identify 2 types of Tempo: proactive and reactive. Proactive Tempo refers to coin double Tunnel Troggs/Mana Wyrm, Flamewaker coin-your-hand-out etc. Basically any of the dream start aggro and tempo decks want. Reactive Tempo, on the other hand, refers to the backstab si:7 the double troggs, prep shadow strike or eviscerate. For the latter to happen, you will need to be on the back foot or whatever play you try to do as rogue is probably incorrect. This is prone to exceptions as it heavily depends on circumstances (e.g Shadostrike face turn 3 is a legit strategy against some decks or coin pillager). Because our cards, our strong cards, require combo and 'undamaged' characters, it is never wise to play them proactively (once again, if you are planning something for your next turn this may or may not apply). Heck, sometimes even playing on curve is bad as Rogue; you often want to save your swashburglar (especially when starting first) to combo with the SI:7 Agent, you don't ever (I truly hope) drop your Auctioneer on curve just for tempo against control decks and the list goes on. The best way for rogues to gain tempo and win games is through the so called "Miracle Turns" which are an example of Retroactive Tempo.
This concept is the biggest reason why I dubbed good players (my opinion, again) as Masochists. We purposefully put ourselves at a disadvantage because we are planning on an even bigger tempo swing for the next turn. This is an example of planning and if you guys don't agree with me, that's fine, but I suggest you have a look at Trump (the streamer, please) being coached by Mr Yagut on Oil Rogue. You will often notice that they held back on cards and planned for the next turn, dramatically increasing their win rate. Rogue isn't a tempo class nor a combo class and not even a control class, it is a mix of the three and this is why we play it. We are not in a bad spot, I never thought rogue has ever been in a bad spot honestly as you guys always come up with a good competitive deck, but we are definitely not in a better spot either after MSG. Yes, this is pure conjecture and speculation as we need to give new archetypes a chance, but let's face it, other classes are gonna be stronger for sure.
Again, for the sake of keeping it short I'm going to crystallise my argument and keep it as concise as possible (I will happily answer any questions): there will be more AEO for other classes this expansion, so stealth Auctioneer is not as reliable anymore; aggro decks will have midrange threats for the same cost (goons precisely) exacerbating the lack of AEO in Rogue; sap is gonna lose some of its strength due to Jade Golems but perhaps Vanish may see play; and more Hunters in the meta which aggravates no 'substantial heals' for Rogue. I say substantial because a small heal is often not enough for a comeback, but it can help survive against aggro so the new 1 Mana heal 4 might replace burglar.
As for the new cards, due to the fact that we can't ACCURATELY predict what shape the meta will take, I'll abstain from embarrassing myself in the future and just say that I don't like them but that doesn't mean they aren't possibly great.
Lastly (yay), I think that what we really love when playing Rogue is pulling those amazing comebacks from the brink of death and the feeling of satisfaction we get when we decide to hold back on cards when"average tempo gain" is dangled to us like bait and a few turns later realise mistakes were NOT made. What we hate about Rogue, and I think this can be easily fixed, is how thin we have to draw the line between good plays and gamble; players should be rewarded for thinking ahead and planning (but still subject to bad luck or good luck) when playing a difficult deck, but the deficit of survival tools make this margin of error even smaller.
TL;DR: We are all Masochists, rogue will always be in a decent spot no matter what and don't be discouraged by MSG, a new archetype or variant of miracle will keep our win rate above 50%

Demonxz95 posted a message on Krul the UnshackledPosted in: Krul the UnshackledFun Fact: Out of every class in the game, Warlock has the highest average class Legendary cost with an average of 8.
(Lord Jaraxxus) + (Mal'Ganis) + (Wilfred Fizzlebang) + (Cho'gall) + (Krul the Unshackled)
9 + 9 + 6 + 7 + 9 = 40
40 divided by 5 = 8
Second place goes to Druid with an average class Legendary cost of 7.8

This card has CLASS IDENTITY written all over its face. Thanks Mr. Ayala for giving Rogue the tools they needed to be the joke of this expansion.

Two words: Amazing artwork. Kudos to the artist.
Nice effect, perfectly balanced, gives a healthy boost to control shaman.

Shame to waste such a nice art on this bad card.

Probably by the butthurt guy who drawed this and his friends lol

Terrible art, looks like a panda face photoshopped over a woman's torso. It's not even facing in the right direction!!

Not a bad card at all but dissapointing to say the least considering Kazakus and his unique effect. Feels like this expansion was created by different teams that did their part and then mixed everything together.

I shall name you: Druid of the Balance

Won't somebody please think of the priests?... But in all seriousness most hated and unrequested card of the set for a class that was begging for proactive early game.
