I think spare parts are very likely. It is the first thing that comes to mind from GvG. They are easy to understand. They are interesting. They are easy to attach to any card. BTW, mech warrior may get sweet tools because dr Boom.

I think the new Lackey mechanic is a nice call back to the Spare Parts of GvG.  Cards that add thematic non-collectible cards to your hand is another mechanic I wish was used more often.  From what it seems, even more Lackeys will be added with the other two sets during Year of the Dragon.

As far as Highlander decks go, it's tough to say if they'll add more specific support.  Twinspell is probably going to be extremely valuable for those Wild decks though.  With cards like Genn, Baku, and Keleseth leaving Standard, it would be a bit awkward to add "build around" decks right back in to the game.

Lazul's Scheme: 5 Mana, Summon a *1/1* copy of each of your minions. (Upgrades each turn!)

Rafaam's Scheme: 6 Mana, Give your opponent *1* 'Cursed!' card. (Upgrades each turn!)

Dr. Boom's Scheme: 7 Mana, Summon three 1/1 Boom Bots that explode for 1-*2* damage to a random minion. (Uprades each turn!)

posted a message on More villains in League of Evil

It does seem that the villains in EVIL so far are original to Hearthstone.  The exception being Dr. Boom who gained far more infamy in Hearthstone than he ever did in WoW.  With that in mind, it's possible that the crime families of Gadgetzan could return in the form of villains and/or lackeys as well.

So it kinda looks like we will get old mechanics from the sets that the villans are from in their respective class.

That does seem to be the case.  I'm really hoping to see some more of the non-keyword mechanics that the villains used.  Curse of Rafaam could see a return as well.  It's even a Warlock spell.  Maybe some Boom Bots for Dr. Boom?

Probably not with Genn and Baku getting HoF'ed. Would seem kinda silly to just miss out on the opportunity, tho maybe they didn't want to make odd/even decks even stronger, that being said, past inspire cards kinda needed that push to be viable, so ...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  There was enough complaints about Genn and Baku that adding back Inspire during that time period would just cause more outrage.  With the power level of cards decreasing again, it might make sense to bring it back slowly.  That being said, Mage does still have some Hero Power synergy cards.

Considering that "Forbidden Words" is an old gods mechanic, and priest has Lazul, an old god representative.

so maybe some classes will get an old mechanic based on the legendary that represent them.

maybe we will get 3 tri-class neutral cards this time ?

    Inspire?

    Highlander?

Yeah, I'm hoping to see this as well.  The villains getting their time to shine is expected and I like how they're bringing back forgotten mechanics for each of the classes.  However, we have no idea who is representing the Defenders (except for Kalecgos).  Will any old mechanics be brought back for them or will their only defense be Twinspell?

posted a message on Could Inspire return in Rise of Shadows?

I noticed while reading over the Rise of Shadows reveal page that, "We will see some old mechanics return!"  So far the only old mechanic mentioned is the "Forbidden Words" card.  However, in this new expansion, the League of EVIL has access to Lackeys and Schemes while the Dalaran Defenders only have Twinspell (which might not even be exclusive to them).

With problematic cards that made Hero Powers very powerful leaving Standard (ie. Genn, Baku, and the Death Knights), is it time for this lackluster mechanic to make a return?  The theme could fit too seeing as how even citizens of Dalaran are supposedly rallying against the invasion of EVIL.  Thoughts?

posted a message on "Rise of Shadows" is the new expansion name

I'm ok with the name.  Although, with the forming of this villainous team, I thought about the name "Rise of the Reliquary" a few days ago when Rafaam got leaked.  I was reminded of Reliquary Seeker that has the flavor text of, "The Reliquary considers itself the equal of the League of Explorers.  The League of Explorers doesn't."

The acronym for it would clash with Rastakhan's Rumble though...hmm...

posted a message on What cards do you regret crafting?

Probably Bolvar Fordragon.  Not only was I brand new to the game, I was brand new to card games in general.  The thought of having a high attack minion spring up after my other minions died made me think the card was very good.  Little did I know that cards like Ironbeak Owl and Big Game Hunter were run in every single deck without question before their nerfs.  All that aside, the card was still very inconsistent since it became useless if you drew it late in the game.

Still, my mistake back then makes me really consider for a long while before crafting new cards.

posted a message on Who Do You Think Will Comprise the Hero Team to Combat the Villains of Violet Hold

Since this is supposed to be a story played out through the whole year, there's a good chance we meet up with previous heroes as well.  Maybe all the original Hearthstone heroes.

I feel like with each expansion, we'll be able to drive the villains out of each area but not without them gaining some artifact of power or something.  It'll have to take all the dragon aspects to band together to take down this team in the end and whatever they happened to be collecting over the course of the year.

posted a message on Who else is Whizbanging?

I opened a Golden Whizbang on Day 1 of the expansion.  I was pretty excited to say the least and proceeded to use nothing but that card while the meta settled into place.  It was a lot of fun since the recipes during Boomsday were quite powerful.

Now, I only use Whizbang when I have the 80 gold play a friend quest.

posted a message on Second teaser out! Togwaggle joins the band, Hagatha next?

I'm not sure why so many think that the next member of the team is Hagatha.  Her entire theme of twisted amalgamations, haunted forests, and swampy creatures doesn't really fit with the totem and skulls on the card.

It's anyone's guess on who this new character could be.  I'm having a tough time finding a villain who uses totems.  Other members included could be Nefarian, Rafaam, or even Kel'Thuzad.

I really like the way this deck plays, especially since it's so different from what's considered top tier at the moment.

I don't have Scourgelord Garrosh so I subbed in a Sudden Genesis.  Some of my games ended in victory much faster than I think my opponent was prepared for.  Haha.

posted a message on What's going to be popular after the rotation?

Anything and everything could be popular or viable post rotation.

It's the best time to try out homebrew decks before a meta settles in and net decking begins.  It's usually customary to see old decks too in the hopes of farming those trying new things, but it'll be different this time with Genn and Baku rotating early.

posted a message on The 3 card backs from event connection with the 3 expansions of the coming year.

They could be.  Many people are speculating that the first expansion is Dalaran themed.  In WoW, the city was used as a sort of base of operations in the fight against the Legion.

Maybe there would be some in game event where Legion enemies invade regular play modes (or just a Tavern Brawl) and if you defeat enough of them, you get the new card back.

posted a message on What do you propose of a change on Shudderwock?

I can't argue about the speed of battlecries played through Shudderwock's effect.  They had to speed up Lifedrinker's animation because of the overuse of the card and it seems like they'll need to do something similar.  Also, isn't there already a hard cap on Shudderwock only reproducing a maximum of 30 battlecries?
