posted a message on Future state of DKs after spring rotation
    Quote from IDBY >>

I disagree with is Rexxar being dead. I would move it up to has potential at least. The DK solves one of the problems with Hunter, card draw. Depending on what hunter gets in the next two expansions he may even get better.

The rouge DK could also move down to has potential. Without giants and the pirates there are to many questions and relies on the next two expansions to keep it relevant.

This was my impression as well. Rexxar isn't very replaceable because card draw is invaluable in Hunter, especially when all of those cards are custom minions.

posted a message on Your Experience Playing Hearthstone Thus Far

For some perspective, I've been playing a little over a year.

I enjoy the game a lot, but from my experience this is because I don't take it too seriously. I'm not a "grinder" who spends all of his time and money on Hearthstone. I do play relatively frequently, but never for too long a duration. I have always played exclusively Wild (even when I was a new player), and I highly recommend doing so if you're on a budget (ironically enough). While the cost per deck in Wild is higher, you get to keep those decks forever so it's a much better long-term investment than Standard, in which you have to invest in a new deck every few months.

TL;DR: Fun if you don't take it too seriously. You may enjoy Wild (financially and in terms of fun), but it isn't for everyone.

posted a message on Aya or Thalnos?

thanks guys, I ended up crafting thalnos because he fits into my reno mage deck and will probably slot into my malyshaman deck, although i'm still unsure about this.

aya is next for sure, and then thrall :)

Someone said Majordomo Executus, I've never played the card, why is it bad?

because it's a bad body for 9 mana and will almost certainly lose you the game if its deathrattle goes off. The hero Ragnaros that you get stuck with only has 8 maximum health

posted a message on worst card in game

    Basic: Magma Rager

    Common: probably Am'gam Rager

    Rare: Savagery

Epic: Glacial Mysteries (although I absolutely love the idea and the art and wish this card was viable in some janky medivh deck)

Legendary: Majordomo Executus over Millhouse Manastorm because when evolve/shredder spawns manastorm it's actually good, whereas whether you play it or somehow summon executus, it will always be bad.

posted a message on Aya or Thalnos?

For my next legendary, I'm kinda stuck between Aya Blackpaw and Bloodmage Thalnos. A little background: I play exclusively wild, so rotation and the like is not an issue. Thalnos and Manic Soulcaster are the only left additions to my reno mage deck, and aya is the last card I need to complete a Midrange Jade build.

    1. does thalnos have a spot in Evolve Jade Shaman? Is Thrall, Deathseer necessary for this build (this is a midrange version without patches)?

    2. If thalnos doesn't slot into Evolve Jade Shaman, which will be a better investment?

I'm leaning towards thalnos atm, but I really want to play evolve shaman...

     Thanks in advance :)

    Define “optimize”.

Are your Mage and hunter decks complete? Are there any more cards you need for them? And is this standard you’re talking abou?

evolve Shaman is always super fun tho, it probably is worth it to switch gears and play it, especially if you only need 1000 more dust to complete it after disenchanting stuff.

posted a message on Poll: Which is the best Death Knight (in decks and otherwise)

I think Thrall, Deathseer is criminally underrated. he turns a normally kinda shitty hero power into a really good on, and his immediate impact on the board is immense. All of this on turn 5.

Bloodreaver Gul'dan definitely is strong, but i also think Frost Lich Jaina is a sorta underrated dk because her hero power is far better than most people give her credit for.

anduin is fine, but he's only really good in combination with raza. otherwise he's decent but certainly not the best.

     ill gladly be the one.
if the OP isn't gonna offer a single piece of constructive criticism, the lot of us that actually cares about making the game better doesn't really wanna hear about it.

    Quote from Shotazoa >>

Rank 15 put me in the top 30% of hearthstone players....so 70% of the player base literally doesn't even play the game anyone else think that this is a problem?

According to Brode, 40% of the players don't know the basic mathematic skills and are stuck between ranks 20-18. Yes, I do consider that a serious problem.
Sorry I don't see the problem. I do enjoy the game. I play every month till I get rank 15 or better but never a lot better. Grinding just kills me. I do my quest and enjoy trying out decks on casual (recently Keleseth decks before the meta became fan of the prince and Y'shaarj druid) but I never play the number of games that would take me to legend. That's more than enough for me. Where is the problem there?
Should I assume I need to be a frenetic hardcore gamer not to be part of the problem? Anyway, if I need to play pirate warrior or jade druid for hours like a brainless robot, I'd rather play an other game...
Now Maybe Ben Brode is right (He should know). I know I'm not stuck. I do exactly what I want to do.
I don't think he meant casual players are the problem. I think he means that the number of people who are active on ladder and who don't have the experience or skill to surpass even the rank 18 mark is insane...not sure if there is a solution to this though.

posted a message on Are mulligans really randomly generated, or rigged?
    Quote from TheScot >>

I would actually argue that mulligans seem to favor your starting cards more often than not. Think back to pirate warrior ... how often does your opponent open with N'zoth's First Mate? Maybe 1 time in 3 at least? Yet, theoretically, he should only have a:

2 out of 30 chance for card 1; 2 out of 29 for card 2; so on ... I'm not totally sure how that works out with 5 starting cards, but it's not a 33% chance, mathematically.

Or murloc pally opening with vilefin and following with rockpool hunter ... the list goes on. I've seen really good curve mulligans at least as often as really bad ones, and it seems like they are more common. But this is not exactly what I would call scientific. Someone who has taken a statistics class more recently should weigh in.

Edit: Ok, I found the function to calculate mulligan chances in Excel. Yes, there is a function to calculate random card draw. Turns out the probability of drawing one N'zoth's First Mate if there are two in the deck and you go second is .. 28%. So yeah, that about matches my experiences actually, as 28% is more than 1 in 4 and less than 1 in 3.

Ok looks like you fixed ur mind math there lol, mulligans are very complex to calculate. But the OP doesn’t realize that you still have a chance to draw cards you shuffle back in with mull. Mulls don’t guarantee that you don’t draw back the card you put back (ie If I keep 1 prep in NYC opener and mulligan the other one I can still replace the prep with itself). So to answer op’s question - yes they are random. 100%.
Null hypothesis for the nerds out there: any deviation from the expected value is due to chance and chance alone

posted a message on help on crafting pleasee

if you want a completed highlander deck, craft kazakus. he's absolutely necessary for the deck.

dk rexxar is fine if you have a nearly complete hunter deck already, and keleseth is a strong card in tempo rogue, but that deck costs a shit ton of dust.

in other words, it's up to you because we have no idea what your collection looks like

posted a message on Golden Harrison Jones- dust?

Not sure if he's worth keeping rn. Gluttonous ooze and normal ooze are generally the go-to against aggro decks anyway.

If you have some high-priority legends to craft (Thalnos, Rag Sylv and Boom for wild, Tarim, Lyra, Kazakus, Death Knights, etc.) then go ahead and DE him :)
