Not reading to the 2nd sentence of the strategy is a bad idea if you're going to make a comment.

Follow up: the winning combo for this deck is often Brann +TE, then next turn C'thun for 2x (as Brann is behind that shield). And given that I find this deck struggles against aggro unless you have those major heals...

Yeah, the TE and 2 TDs are quite important. Doubling your odds for 10 health on turn 5 against aggro, and popping 3 4/6 taunts with Brann can swing quite a bit. Don't knwo what level you play at, or if casual. Maybe had an effect.

Have to tell you, I just had the most fun I've had in Hearthstone, playing this deck. Because I got the perfect C'Thun/Brann Bronzebeard series one can hope for.

Playing a normal Control Warrior in Standard ladder. I run through my deck and take some fatigue damage, but Entombed his Justicar Trueheart earlier so I heal for 4 when needed.

Turn 21ish - Brann/Twin Emperor Vek'lor (he then kills all but Brann and steals the Emp's brother with Sylvanas Windrunner)

Turn 22 - 25/25 C'Thun, doubled from Brann.  50(!) damage kills his board and leaves him below 10. (He then BGH's my C'thun, goes face for 5, leaving me at 2 after next fatigue, but leaves Brann thankyouthankyouthankyou), and Trueheart-armors himself 4.

Turn 23 - Twilight Darkmender, doubled from Brann, plus Holy Nova for 2 more, getting me back to 24 and killing his BGH. (He kills my Darkmender with something and brings out a Doomsayer that I don't care about plus armors 4).

Turn 24 - Doomcaller, putting TWO 25/25 C'Thun's back in my deck, ending fatigue, and Brann's final act is popping him for 2. (his Doomsayer clears the board and he puts out something that doesn't matter.)

Turn 25 - He finally gives up before I can pound him for 25/25 on consecutive turns. Truly amazingly fun.

Since I'm missing several cards (Mortal Strike, 1 each of Arcane GolemArgent Horserider), I've been testing this in casual first.

It's brutally effective, even when missing cards. I went 8 - 3, with losses to a Freeze Mage (who needed a misplay by me and both Ice Blocks to win), a Renolock (had him to  1, did 45 damage overall), and a Control Warrior (40 damage overall). Otherwise, it dominates by sheer damage and fear. It doesn't hurt that some people probably Mulligan for Control Warrior. I can see this becoming something players start expecting to see at some point though, because even new players like me can play it well.

I'll give it a whirl in ladder and see how it goes.

If you have LoE, I'd look at switching out either Rend Blackhand and/or a Shadow Word: Death for Entombs.

Also, given the current meta (at least from 20 - 15), the aggro leads to a decent number of zoo/token decks or multiple minions, meaning trying to keep 1 minion alive with boosts loses tempo quickly. If you're finding that to be the case with you, you could potentially swap the Resurrects for Museum Curators: get bodies on the board early for same price whether you've lost a minion or not, and choose whether you need early control 1 - 3 drops all the way to win condition legends.

Thanks for all the helpful tips. Especially about learning the different heroes, which is maybe the best point.

Money? Sure, if you're "serious" about the game then spend some money on it. No reason to be upset at the thought of paying for something you value. Decide how much the game matters to you (e.g. I pay for adventures but haven't bought a pack...yet), and stay within your emotional and financial budget.

RNG? Same guy with same whine. I've caught on to your troll act, so ta ta.

I was going to try to give you a real answer...but then I read this last post.

You're so far on tilt that you have no idea how far you've lost control over your ability to play this game. Go do something else for awhile then come back and see if you can see the mistakes you're making.

And by the way, saying you want to find a card game that isn't so "random" may be the funniest thing I ever see HS players say.

Is tilt what we call not getting cards?  Thats fine if thats what Im on or whatever.  I was told that the bad draws and rng "balances out" eventualy.  Still waiting on a timeframe for eventually.  Thats OK, its fun now. At Rank 12 and going backwards.  Amazingly I was at Rank 6 when I was getting decent cards.  Im shooting for Rank 20 now!!!
And, it would be VERY possible to limit someof the RNG of this or any other card game.  Let us chose one starting card at least.  Get rid of cards that have massive RNG associated with them.  So much could be done.  Dont act like it cant...its that they wont.  Fine, but its wont not cant.
Being "on tilt" means "being so angry at the outcomes of previous hands/games that you don't play clearly." You're so mad right now that when  you play you're blaming the cards and RNG and the opponents and Blizzard and...everything but the fact that maybe you're so pissed that you're not thinking clearly in-game. Go play something else for a few days or hike or watch TV or something. But HS is probably not your best option right now since all you're doing is losing and getting angrier about it, yet not do anything to change your play while raging at the world.
HS has a lot of RNG. It's never been clearer, and it's the whole basis of their game and why it's only an online game. But every card game is an RNG fest, from Go Fish to Magic to Poker. Complaining that someone else's RNG is better than your RNG is pointless. You might be 2-standard deviations from average in your card draws, but it's far more likely that either your decks are not adapted to the meta or your play isn't. Which goes back to "take a beak". If the current meta is supporting decks you don't like to play or to play against, go play something else. If the people who play druid are successful and you are not, go take a break. If you're so mad that you think you need a refund because you aren't winning as much as you want, go take a break.

Some of these are dependent on the actually game of Hearthstone you are playing and some are the overall game. The 2 specified change depending on what deck you are playing and playing against and the others don't.
I am sorry if i was not clear enough but I am asking if you want an answer for an instance of Hearthstone(single game) or the game in general(gold management etc)

Ah, I see. I wasn't as clear either. I mean the game in general. Is gold management more important than how to play on curve (no matter the deck) or mulliganing. That kind of thing

well you need 2 answers, 1 for in a single game of hearthstone and another for the whole game itself.

I've been playing for ~ 3 months and really enjoy the game. I want to help friends get into the game, and was thinking about the key thing they need to learn after just game mechanics (and that I need to learn too, of course). If you were to decide that 1 skill for new players is most important, what would you choose?

I thought about a lot of things (effective netdeck adaption since you have few cards; curve management; early game management; crafting), and I think "strong mulligan skill" is most important. All card games are hugely random, but almost none let you mitigate that randomness by replacing poor cards. Plus, you can't have early game management without a good starting hand.

What would you say is most important?

OK - show me tangible proof that achieving high ranks in this game isnt based on matchups & the "hot deck"?  Everyone is playing the same decks on ladder.  We ALL know whats coming and when.  Its not nuclear physics.  So, when most all else is equal the only remaining factors are starting cards, draws, and various other RNG aspects.  And, before you say "that all equals out", Id ask WHEN?  Whats the magic number of games until Im gauranteed to stop getting bad starting cards or whatever?
As an example - I just played 3 straight games with midrange Paladin and ALL fucking 3 games my starting hand included Tirion, equality, and one other usless card.  Got run over ALL 3 games.  Conceded by turn 4.  Ya telling me one of those Youtube clowns would have "skiled" their way out of it?  Nope.  DEAD.  No cards - You LOSE.
The gane has its moments of being fun and honestly Im on vacation for a the next few weeks and have nothing better to do.  Believe me Im looking for a new card game that isnt so effing dependent on10 different things to go right.
To achieve higher ranks in this game (legend for example), in the most effective way, you have to understand the current meta first, and choose your deck according to that. It is not only about chosing one of the most popular deck out there and being lucky man...
OK - but....when the meta is loaded with such specific "This deck beats that deck but not other decks", WTF do ya do?  Tech for aggro only to face reno-lock BS?  Tech for late game and get run over by Shamans and Tempo Mages?  What is the "consistent" deck then?
I understand the meta. Ive been playing a lot over the last few months and its the same damned thing: Oops, wrong matchup.  Ive watched the youtube vids of various players and interestingly they rarely make a play that I wouldnt have or not made a play I would have if that makes sense.  Ive tried to "git gud" as the clowns around here say.  But, what am I "getting good" at actually?  Drawing well?  Catching a string of favorable matchups which gets me through the ladder fast?  Ive tried Midrange Paladin, Druids, everything. Always seems like I win when I get decent cards and lose when I dont.  What the hell else is there?  care to explain or provide meaningful data that the game isnt just a casino?  My data says it is, for the most part.  Thats fine... but it should be advertised as a casino game, LOL.
Pick a deck learn it to the point where you don't even have to think about the plays, they are just like muscle memory. Stick with that deck and only that deck, learn it's match ups. Learn what beats it, learn how it beats other decks. Know every option, learn to recognize decks after the first 2 or 3 card drops. When you get to that point that is when the the RNG starts to even out over a long series of games. That is when you know how to combat a bad hand. That is when you start to win the matches that could go either way, That is when you stop making stupid mistakes you didn't know you were making. That is what people mean by "git gud"
That all sounds great and Im down with trying just one deck.  I was going to make that "one deck" Druid since its fun and I like the class. But, my goodness.... it gets run OVER by anything aggro and theres quite a bit of that on the ladder right now. So, for example, say I stay with Druid. What would I "tech in" to help with aggro?  Another Living roots?  How about Robo cub due to the taunt?  The problem of course is that these cards dont really "fit" into a midrange druid deck, do they?
Ive been playing mid druid for a while now and my bitching is because the deck is just too damned slow!   Sure, I look like a pro when I Innervate into some crazy ass big minions on turn 3. I win, all the time WHEN that happens. But, if I start slow against even a secret Paladin.... forget it.  Down to like 17 health in a hurry.  Them against Control Warrior.... nothing seems to work.  They have like 150 armor it seems, LOL.  Just run out of steam in those games.  Alex or Ysera come out and Druid has NO answer for either.

I think OP is a troll, the other day he made a thread about how bad midpala is

Its not doing that well right now on the ladder games Im getting stuck with.  Secret Pally KILLS it.  Aggro shaman does too.  Control Warrior and Renolock are 50/50.  Show me how good it is.  What, did some website say so?  Yeah, that means a lot, LOL.
It's just hard to believe. You seem like you know enough about this game that you shouldn't struggle with 2 of the best decks out there (in my opinion mid druid is the best deck to ladder right now because of all the renolocks out there and the ability to "cheat" out some games with strong innervate plays)
Maybe your sample size is not big enough to evaluate those decks?
My opinion about matchups is based on experience and understanding of the game.
How big of a sample size do I need?  Reno locks win all the time.... what the hell do you do against that crap?  Dont find it hard to believe... its true.  I cant win a god damned fucking game as of late. My hands are TERRIBLE.  How do you play better when you have to hero power on turn 4 or 5 because your hand is loaded with FoN, Ancient of Lore and Savage roar?  Or have NO minions to play until turn 3 or 4?  No innervate is almost a concede for me at this point.  Druid is soooooooo slow otherwise.  While your "waiting" to play your big guns your oponent is hammering your face.  What the fuck? LOL.
I dunno - This is BS though.  I got down to Rank 6 and am back to 11 and falling fast.  Every. Fucking. Game. I. Have. No. Fucking. Cards.  Blizzard owes me a refund.  Im pissed I have invested $$ into the game.  If I had known then what I know now I wouldnt have bothered or would have stopped at the baic card set or whatever.  Now I feel compeled to play due to having some cash into the game. Not a ton but enough that I hae to try and get my moneys worth.

posted a message on Can someone give me advice?

I can't speak specifically to this game, but I can speak to tactics that worked for me in other games (I've been seriously gaming for 20+ years) that I will be using as I advance in HS (only playing since mid-September). Getting really good at most games requires only 3 things, once you know you like it enough to play a lot.

One: know your play style. Seems like you have this one down.

Two: concentrate on specific builds you like. Whether its load outs in FPS, vehicles in sims, units/tactics in arenas, or heroes/styles in HS, pick maybe 3 (at most) specific choices as your "money" play for a length of time (say, month or 2). Jumping from face hunter to secret paladin to tempo mage every few ladder matches means you can't concentrate on becoming exceptional with any one. Use all other choices to break the monotony and for fun, but don't commit huge chunks of time to styles you don't have the drive to ladder with.

Three: pay attention to your stats. Nearly every top 5% player in nearly every game I've played knows their stats, and not just because they like to brag. Stats are a reflection of your decision-making in the past: bad stats often mean you made bad choices and never learned from them. Dig into your stats and find out what matchups you face a lot, what matchups you lose to, what decks you may like but can't seem to win with, etc. Then make changes based on what you see, not just randomly or on a hunch. This is the hardest one, and what seems to separate the genuinely excellent players from the whiners who complain that a game is broken. Whenever anyone poo-poos stats as important in a game that they play hundreds or thousands of times, I know they will probably never be better than mediocre.

    Good luck!

posted a message on Why is there so many a-holes in this game?

Here's the deal. People are often jerks. Online, with some anonymity they are more likely to be jerks. HS is no exception. Deal with it how you like: don't accept friend requests; accept friend requests and laugh off the jerks; accept requests and cope. Whatever works for you.

I accept all friend requests after matches, and have never been salted. I send requests after people beat me with interesting decks so I can ask them questions or observe their play.

That said, I understand the limited responses we can make in game. I'm not above losing my $#!+ during a tense game, though there's so much RNG in any card game I usually don't blame the other person as much as life itself.
