I also though about it but I decided that it's bad idea to nerf some cards just because of Brann and Shadowstep. In my opinion it's better to exclude Brann and Shadowstep from the Core set and Standard. Or change them to make less abusive.

In terms of Astalor I agree that it has to be changed because it's strong enough even without Brann. I would like to change 8/8 version to 6 damage (12 damage with manathirst).

But in the same time I suggest to slightly change wording of 2/2 and 5/5 versions to make them less confusing - manathirst effect is obviously has to be a part of battlecry. Here just add 'and' in the beginning of each manathirst effects and you are done

What cards would you put into this deck if you have enough dust for it?

May be some parts from Big spell mage deck like Clumsy Courier or Grey Sage Parrot. What do you think?

What do you think about extra Brann synergy? Like Queen Azshara, Commander Sivara or School Teacher ?

And may be some tech choices like Rustrot Viper and Fire Sale ?

There are some of my personal impressions after one evening of piloting:

• Balinda Stonehearth sometimes has anti-synergy when draws Wildfire. May be cut her from the deck?
• Alexstrasza the Life-Binder looks kind of slow, however it won me a couple of games just because my opponent did not expect extra burst damage from the hand. BTW Kalecgos is also kind of close call here - slow and unexpected for the opponent.

There is a fun thing - I played as a mech mage, faced 5 DH in a row, lost 4 and decided to switch to this deck. And you know what? 2 control warriors, 2 pirate warriors, 1 quest priest and 1 mirror. Incredible :)
