The red cloth thing is nice, but the overall design is so generic and boring. Basically every cardback has these metal/rock-like wide crude elements. Make something different already!
New epic is the replacement for Ice Block. Ice Lance's spot is taken by that generic "get a random Mage spell" card, Tome of Intellect.
If you skip the PR talk, this card is just an attempt to permanently dilute Mage card pool with something bad. First they plague the class with RNG upon RNG, then they decide there are too many good outcomes.
It's bad. Too conditional, costs too much and it's also epic. It could maybe have been ok in vanilla when there were mostly midrange decks and attacking Chillwind Yeti with a Water Elemental was a thing.
I guess it's fine. The flavor is good, the art is great, mechanics are basic, but can synergize with other cards. Would probably find a place in all those budget decks that get to the top at Hearthpwn from time to time.
Might even be playable once that awful Glacial Mysteries rotates out.
WoW! Thanks for the Leyline manipulator copying the 0 mana apprentice tip! I always waited to get 2 copies from Simulacrum before reducing their cost. That makes the combo a lot more flexible.
Thanks for the deck! Had to craft 2xSimulacrum for it. It rotates rather soon, but still worth it. Fun deck!
Is Ice Barrier instead of Spellbender taken solely to keep the deck cost down? If you ever lose tempo with this deck, you are not coming back, so health gain isn't a priority. I think even Frozen Clone is better here.
I tried to get legend only once - got to Rank 1 with 1 star. Maybe I should've pushed it further then because I never wanted to grind it to legend ever since.
I used to get rank 5 every season for a golden epic effortlessly with the deck I liked at the time, because I liked to play the game. But nowadays I only play to finish quests from time to time. The game actually annoys me with it's rock-paper-scissors design ever since MSoG and super-swingy cards and mechanics.
I used to build decks for 3-5 classes to have some variety, although mainly sticking to Mage regardless of the class' state. Now most decks need class legendaries and niche epics, so I don't bother and just play Mage and sometimes semi-outdated Warlock decks.
Blizzard has gone too far with some cards. They're acting like a kid with maximalism. Like Diablo 3 Jay Wilson's "doubled it" all over again. Why did they make Warlock DK summon EVERY demon on top of a ridiculously good hero power? Why does Hadronox need to summon ALL taunts? Why does Shudderwock replay ALL battlecries? There are more cards like this, but you get the point.

No info about in-game items. Last year there was nothing special, hope they have put more effort this year.

So Mage sucks again I guess.

The art seems familiar. Isn't it a reference to some anime or jrpg? Can't remember.
Edit: maybe Time gal or something.

Yeah, card art is disappointing. The art in the trailer was a lot better.

You'd think they might print better Mage cards as the class is in shambles, but no.

Damn! I went 17-0 with this deck from rank 20 to rank 10. Thanks for the deck!

Nobody plays Cone of Cold, it's awful after the nerfs. Why even mention it?
