Literally the last brawl was not random, but I agree with your sentiment. The Tavern Brawls are only fun for me when I get to make a weird deck not just receive random cards.
The value you can get from Twilight's Hammer can be insane. The way I see it is basically a 4/3 weapon. The deathrattle gives you a 4/2 Elemental after you've cleared two minions with your 5 mana weapon. Assumedly these are 3-5 cost creatures that you are clearing, and unless they waste a spell on a free token you get to clear a third minion with your 4/2 Elemental at no life cost, or even pressuring the life total with again a basically free minion. To find the actual value of the minion/weapon let's compare it to the closest weapons of it's kind, Death's Bite and Truesilver Champion.
Death's Bite is a 4/2 weapon with a whirlwind Deathrattle effect which we know is a 1 cost so the weapon can be valued at 4/2 for 3 mana. With Death's Bite the deathrattle has to be controlled for maximum effect but a minion does not need to be controlled in the same way and just adds value to the board so we get better use out of this.
Compared toTruesilver Champion which is 4 cost for the same attack but with a different effect. The effect costs 1 for a heal of 4 which is the standard cost for heal on a card, so a 4/2 weapon costs 3 mana. Twilight's Hammer then costs 3 mana for the weapon and at the end it summons you a 4/2 elemental which theoretically costs 2 mana and zero cards and the most efficient clear would be another 2 cost minion at the cost of 1 card or a 1 mana spell like Holy Smite plus the cost of one card. This card is all about value which plays into the midrange style play of Shaman and can add insane value to trades and give Shaman insane board control and as long as you don't overextend with this minion and more than one other, you will play around the easy Holy Nova or other AoE that could ruin all the value you got from this card.
In conclusion, this card provides lots of value for trades and clears the way for a clear board for your 6 drop and 7 drop which are important turns for midrange in pressuring the life total and allows you to trade with face damage rather than your minions so you can use them to pressure life total and control the game. Overall, I think this is a great card for midrange but Doomhammer will still be better for a finishing combo and will still be played in a different style deck or even one of in the same midrange deck but used for the combo rather than trading.
Baited out both executes against a warrior and played [card]Mirror Image[card] on turn 8 with the Archmage. After two more turns I end up with this! First game I played this season and I just crushed it, and that my friends is the power of the Archmage.
I am playing my first game this season after taking a big break, and I decide to make a Tempo Mage deck that I played last season and long story short, I played around Archmage Antonidas super hard, and this is what I end up with.
As far as genetic traits no, but psychologically people tend to view their negative experiences as more memorable than any positive experience. This factors into their tendency to ask for nerfs because even if they have a 92% win rate against Secret Paladin (My patron warrior deck) they remember those 8% times when Secret Paladin had perfect curve as happening 50% of the time or more because of the frustration experienced. When these memories are most prevalent in our mind a common occurrence is viewing certain aspects of this deck as unfair or unbalanced without thinking of the complicated design processes gone through by Hearthstone's lovely design team. They have extensive experience designing fair cards so if something is unbalanced they have the data and the knowledge to recognize it and will look at it objectively unlike the average Hearthstone player. Personally I can see the fault because I have studied psychology for 4 years and have experience designing cards for Magic the Gathering which allows me to see greater metagame factors that the average player does not.
Short answer, a psychological effect about the memorability of negative experiences and a lack of experience with card design. Sorry for the long text, hope it answers sufficiently your question.
Confirmation bias is actually when somebody researches a topic and only finds or finds mostly evidence to back up their already held beliefs. What you mean is the group behavior to congregate as like opinions so mostly people who think things should be nerfed post on forums that have that theme.
I agree, back in the day I literally had an 89% win rate with Patron Warrior. It was basically the only thing played, there was absolutely now way to stop it, and it broke the game for an entire season. That being said I think they went too far with nerfing Warsong Commander. I think it should have been changed to "Minions with 2 or less attack have Charge" because then it would still work with my Frothing Berserker combo.
If you have Chillmaw or some other AoE you could get away with it, but Twisting Nether is basically a win condition against Secret Paladins. You need some AoE or hard removal to replace Twisting Nether which is both.
A big tempo swing is all you need. Dark Iron Skulker usually does not clear the board but it can help to make a solid tempo swing. If you can find something else that will provide a similar swing in tempo then that would work best, but a second Sludge Belcher can help to provide similar damage across the board and also helps you to defend yourself so you can create some more tempo in later turns.
You know what taunts don't stop? Spells. I agree that Bolf Ramshield is a very niche card and takes a very well crafted deck and a fantastic player to be used appropriately, but please don't be so mad at one card in this deck because it has a very solid approach and a very unique playstyle.
I'm too lazy to check the suggested art sources that I had literally no idea existed. I made the thread to learn where it is, please try to be nice. It really helps in the long run.
Anywho, thanks everyone I will be an expert card designer in a jiff and now I have the art to make my dreams a reality!
I really want to try my hand at inventing some cards, but I really don't know where people get all the art for the cards they design. Anyone know where I can find art with similar style and related to Warcraft lore for my cards?
I'm really not over reacting. Also I'm talking about the guy who posted on this forum about Ben Brode's video. As I have said, I was just saying that he is really hating on the developers and seems almost angry at them despite all they've done. I'm saying I disagree with his evaluation of how the developers and the community interact. Also as I've said, I am stating my opinion about the same matter and saying I disagree with him so where's my right to say what I want? I wasn't trying to start a revolution, I just wanted to say how I felt because I really like the developers and I don't think his evaluation of their communication was entirely based in reality.
This permanently attaches a random applicableInspire effect to your Hero Power.Inspire effects such as Boneguard Lieutenant and Argent Watchman are not valid. If you change your Hero Power, the Inpsire effect is lost. If you use this with Brann Bronzebeard, it overwrites the previously attached effect instead of attaching two effects.
What do you think of the stats and wording?
What about, being a 4/6 or 3/6 and the wording being, 'Hero Power has a random Inspire effect' meaning while he's alive and not silenced you can get more value from your hero power. Or keep him 6/3 and the wording is like 'Upgrade your Hero Power to have a random Inspire effect each time it's used' so that it's a random one each time and doesn't always get an insane value.
