posted a message on New Shaman Legendary Reveal - Moorabi

Y'know, the card is probably bad, but I'll remain cautiously optimistic about it. We constantly underestimate card generation as an effect, just see Lyra, and there is a world where this could be great. We still haven't seen all the cards yet.

Besides, despite the stats, I love the card. It reminds me of Hallazeal, in that it's a relatively simple but really cool effect that has a multitude of possibilities. frankly even if they aren't all good, Blizzard never goes wrong with the Shaman legendaries.

man I really wish they made Ahune the legendary though.

posted a message on [Fanmade] Death Knight Hero Card Ideas

Hi everyone. Like everybody else, I'm suffering from extreme expansion-reveals wait fatigue. In the meantime, I've scoured reddit and hearthpwn and can't seem to find a collection of fanmade deathknight heroes, so I decided to make my own. Here are Valeera and Thrall. Thoughts?

This is a 4 mana card, but you'll usually want to play this on 6 so you can use the Reincarnate effect to its full potential. In standard there aren't too many broken deathrattles, though you do have a higher chance of getting White Eyes and we're getting a new deathrattle-heavy expansion. In wild there are so many deathrattles that you'll generally not get crazy ones like Sylvanas and Sneed's though it'll be great when you do. The reincarnate effect is very versatile though not as strong as Build-a-Beast, but I'd be thrilled if Shaman actually got this Hero Power with the real card.

Like Thrall, you'll generally want to hero power before playing this, though in this case you're gonna want to use the original rogue hero power. I'll be honest and admit I don't play a lot of rogue, but this seems to fit Blizz's push towards good removal tools for rogue and powerful weapon buffs. Tell me if this is garbage though, Rogue players.

But this wouldn't trigger repentance, sacred trial, couldn't be stolen by Sylvanas or be killed by Sac Pac. We also wouldn't get him off effects like evolve and bane of doom. I think Juraxxus works a lot better as a minion.

posted a message on Ben Brode Reddit AMA - The Rap God Will Return, Alt Heroes, Design Challenges & More

Man if they give Hearthstone a 2v2 mode I will love Blizzard forever. One of the best things about other physical card games was the entire community feel, and the one thing that I hate about hearthstone the most was it somehow ends up feeling like 1 person game even though I'm playing against real people. If we could inject some of that social aspect into the game Hearthstone would be so much richer.

I understand it's a difficult UI challenge, but I'm hoping to see 2v2 in the future, and Ben is really not kidding when he says hearthstone has a talented set of UI designers.

posted a message on I miss Reno..

    Reno was a mistake.

Why? It defined a meta, creating entire new archetype of decks for at last 3 different classes (Warlock, Mage and Priest) that require at last some brain and thinking to pilot them decently. The issue of the "Reno time" was the rest of the meta, where Pirates Warrior and Jade Druid polarized every other options while being both almost braindead decks.
I'm having lots of fun playing it in Wild now, but I don't miss it in the actual Standard because the meta is very good at the moment.
Let's be honest, creating 3 new archetypes isn't incredible when it wiped out several other archetypes. After Kazakus, the only control deck that anybody could play was Reno. And let's not pretend that the reason for the lack of control was because aggro and Reno was the "only deck that could take on pirates" with an inconsistent full-heal. I played an actual control deck in the Gadgetzan meta, I didn't have a problem against pirates, because I teched against aggro with consistent board clears and healing. The annoying decks were greedy Renolocks and Renomages, who could afford to run cards like brann and the leeroy combo because they had two ridiculously broken cards to carry the rest of their deck. Reno was a mistake. It promoted inconsistent deck-building in exchange for overpowered rewards, that ultimately made control more draw-based and less skill-based.
