posted a message on List Better Nerfs Than What They Gave Us

They dropped the ball on Quest Rogue. People on my friendlist are appearing less and less often; people are bored with a polarized meta ruled by two speedbumps: Quest Rogue and Odd Warrior.

The nerf to Giggling Inventor certainly hurts Quest Rogue's performance against aggro, but that was a matchup they were already losing something ridiculous; the problem is it autowins against control running them out of the game and forcing you to either be combo or midrange and the changes don't affect that at all; if anything, Mana Wyrm, which was the backbone of the infamous Tempo Mage and the biggest counter to Quest Rogue, also got hit.

Quest Rogue is not going to be broken, or even necessarily tier 1; but it doesn't allow control to truly exist in the meta. Rock-Paper-Scissors meta is boring.

posted a message on Why do they never give us spell counters?

    You play around them.

You identify your opponent, count his resources, keep in mind the position of cards kept in hand and for how many turns. You try to bait them or force them to use a spell in a non-optimal way (for boardclears) don't give them time to use their reload or greedy spells by pushing aggression and tempo.

That is... until Druid is considered. There is no bad time to cast Ultimate Infestation; there is no bad time to ramp and identifying which kind of druid they are is very hard because they all play the same 25 cards + their win condition; and you can be punished by going tall (Naturalize) or going wide (Spreading Plague) all the same.

posted a message on "Do you BM?" A Hearthstone Confessional

    I counter BM rope.

If I catch someone roping on me, I rope back on purpose. They eventually learn not to. It's no problem for me; there's nearly three hundred items in my to-read list.

Currently Warlock of the Magus world; extremely flawed, but overall crazy interesting story with a refreshingly selfish and ruthless protagonist who's no one's fool. None of that optimistic, hot-headed goody-two-shoes hero stuff that's been done to death.

No other form of BM; and it doesn't happen to me either.

If the match is lost, I will concede right there. Sure; I could play the last 2-3 minutes and win 3-4% more; but honestly, it's just better to start a new game and more importantly, don't get discouraged into not playing anymore because of playing out the inevitable. Because of my quick concedes, I don't really give a chance to be BM'd.

As for emotes? I basically auto-squelch by reflex; I've even mistakenly tried to squelch on single player mode just out of being to used to. If people BM me that way, I wouldn't know.

posted a message on if they want childish heroes...

Personally, I don't care anymore about Paladin or Mage Heroes.

They've already released Medivh and Arthas. They can literally do no better, so why bother in getting anything else?

    I'm happy playing with those.

There is also a point to be made about Mecha Jaraxxus. He's just the right amount of silly without looking plain dumb; sadly, my wallet isn't nearly as bottomless as to obtain him.

posted a message on Disenchant golden cards?

Even Kripparrian, who speaks of "buying a few hundred packs" like he was simply given "a small loan of a million dollars"; who plays Arena for a living and wins big and often on it, has already given up in ever having a golden collection and pressed the button. Cards come out faster than he can hope to craft them even with his relatively ridiculous affluence.

Unless you're willing to sink thousands upon thousands of dollars into the game, having a golden collection is too far-fetched.

It is your choice if want to have a few favorite cards crafted golden; personally I disenchant every golden card the first opportunity I get. I would much rather have 4 regular, old epics than 1 golden one. If one could have a "bootleg" version of the cards where the art is crappier or even missing, but the effect on the card remained the same while costing a fourth of what it usually does; I would get a bootleg collection in a second, but that's just me.

I'm pretty bad. Can't seem to win with this one. 0-6 already; even meme Academic Espionage Rogue got me good, and that one was on casual. I bet it's pretty good against warriors, though.

Whizbang the Wonderful gives me better results.

posted a message on That's one diverse meta!

I check on this site daily, and often I find people whining about how this is the worst expansion ever. Oddly enough, they also thought the same about The Witchwood, about K&K and so on going all the way back to Mean Streets of Gadgetzan (when they did have a point).

Today, all I want to do is point out my experience in ladder. I'm a scrub; a casual player at rank 17 at the start of the month; and wanted to share the stuff I found on ladder over two days over the span of 15 matches in ranked standard:

    3 Zoo (2 victories, 1 defeat)
    1 Kingsbane Rogue (defeat)
    1 Quest Warrior (defeat)
    1 Deathrattle Hunter (defeat)
    1 Even Shaman (victory)
    1 Big-Spell Mage (victory)
    1 Deathrattle Rogue (victory)
    1 Fatigue Warrior (defeat)
    1 Control Warlock (defeat)
    1 Tempo Mage (victory)
    1 Control Priest (victory)
    1 Odd Paladin (victory)
    1 Spiteful Druid (victory)

Sadly, I can't put HSReplay data; it stopped working this morning. Whenever I try to start it it just says "HSReplay has stopped working"; and that's it. Even though you have to take my word for it, and it's admittedly at very low rankings; this still speaks about the diverse meta that we're facing right now.

This is the beginning of the season as well, when you'd expect tons of aggro players to start racing each other to reach legend; which is why I chose Odd Warrior to play, yet sadly my meta-reading was wrong. There aren't that many aggro deck around.

How's this the worst expansion ever, again? Is it that every deck has a counter so not one strategy can dominate? Is it the many viable archetypes all classes seem to have (except priest, RIP priest; and Pally with their Odd one-trick-pony), or maybe the fact that even FTP can just craft Wizbang the Wonderful and all of sudden stand a chance against netdeckers (like me)?

    I love Hearthstone right now.

posted a message on Can't beat Heroic Chromaggus, need a deck suggestion

While bosses do require a certain amount of skill to beat; what has always bothered me is that FTP is not doable in the old expansions. If you don't have the collection, you're not beating the bosses. Skill hardly matters; bosses cheat and requires specific strategies.

posted a message on How OP would Hero Jaraxxus be?

We all know that the mechanics of Lord Jaraxxus inspired the failed Majordomo Executus; then the Death Knights; which in turns inspired regularly printing Hero cards. One of the most iconic Hearthstone cards, it's stated to be Ben Brode's favorite of them all.

Being the first one, Lord Jaraxxus works differently from any other  Hero Mechanic; capping your Health at 15 (which could be even be thought of as a heal way back when) and having no powerful battecry other than equipping his 3/8 weapon; which while insanely durable doesn't make enough impact on the board for 9 mana. If we pair up the loss of maximum health in a meta that is littered by Combo or aggressive decks and the insane powerlevel of Bloodreaver Gul'dan, it's no wonder Lord Jaraxxus has fallen out of flavor.

What if instead of a regular Demon, Lord Jaraxxus was a hero, though? How powerful would he be?

This would mean he would cease being a Demon which would change his interactions with Skull of the Man'ari and Sacrificial Pact, he would come with an armor gain instead of a loss on health; and he would keep his blatantly overpowered Hero Power.

Would that be too OP, still; even if he doesn't do much the turn he's played?
