"This spirit might just be a little bit too restless."
I wanted this to be a middle-ground card between
Arfus
and
The Lich King
, giving access to Death Knight cards without sacrificing stats, but not providing too much of an immediate impact either. As you can have two of this card, it could prove useful in grind /
deathrattle
decks that can make the most of its effect. The Death Knight cards are listed in the spoiler below:
The candles prevent them from using Raza or Kazakus, unless they draw at least 2 of them. Even if they keep removal for the 20/20, staving off the no-duplicate battlecries before forcing removal to be spent is worth the mana cost.
You know what? I really like this card. A vanilla 2/3 beast for 2 mana with a moderate amount of armour. Good for control decks, or giving more aggro orientated decks a bit of survivability, and strong but not to the extent that it's oppressive. Has beast, armour, and battlecry synergy, so there's a handful of decks it could fit into.
I don't think there's a time where I won't be happy to see this in arena either, and I don't think it'll be unfun to play against given its effect is purely defensive. While it's most certainly not the most powerful, flavourful, or exciting card of the set, it's my favourite that I've seen. I think it's an example of simplistic, but fundamentally good and balanced card design.
They live almost entirely underground, and wear candles on their heads to help them see. On top of that, they're scared of the dark because their culture believes that 'darkness will eat them', though that's actually due to a voidwraith attacking them in the dark.
It's illegal for Blizzard to unilaterally break the contract under which I bought cards from them. But that's what they've just done.
I can't get onto Hearthstone unless I read and sign a new contract. But we already have a contract. That's strictly illegal. Can anyone say "class action suit?"
When you agreed to the EULA you agreed that you'd have to agree to later amendments in order to continue usage. Just... no.
With pirate and taunt warrior under it's belt, warrior for me. It's nice to see the new DK whirlwind decks, but the other decks feel like you're playing against robots.
I feel like the taunt is useless, as leaving ysera or lich king alive for a few turns basically means insane value and insta win. More attack is compensated by less hp, and with the insane effect surviving is probably more important. And the quality of cards from ysera and lich king are comparable, if not in ysera's favor.
Taunt means they have to remove him, with Ysera if they have big minions they can just chose to attack your hero, and Ysera's lower attack means she'll be less able to remove them. Not only forcing their trades, but providing you with extra survivability for one less mana is much more useful. As for the quality of cards being more favourable, they absolutely depend on what kind of deck you're running them in, a deck that runs the lich king is not the same as one that runs ysera.
What's the deal with the lich King hype? As far as I understand ysera is just better. The cards generated are generally stronger and cost less mana, while the higher health means he isn't just killed by and big minion or burn spell. Thoughts or explanations?
The big advantage to the Lich King is that he costs 1 mana less, allowing you to get him out earlier or play another card alongside him. On top of that, Taunt means he has immediate board presence. His cards tend to cost more than Ysera's but have a bigger effect than hers, and given you'd typically play him in a control-style deck, that's something you'd probably want. Ysera is much better in decks like Dragon Priest and possibly ramp druid, but she doesn't quite have as much power to immediately impact the board for most decks, even if she can survive for longer.
The get The Lich King from packs/crafting only. The prologue mission rewards you with a random death knight, and each mission from then on rewards you with a single pack.

Less of a 'must-have' and more of a 'fits nicely into quite a few control decks so worth having if that's your playstyle'.

Golden Evolve does, and other golden hero powers that spawn minions make them golden, so it absolutely should.
