I'm with 400 wins with CW and I really want my golden portrait this season. I usually play Elise Warrior, but against a meta of aggro/tempo/midrange, she isn't that helpful. So, I want to play a Classic Control Warrior, with some changes. Firstly, I love Ysera but I subed her for Arch-Thief Rafaam. He can provides some burst damage or board control at some point of the match and I like it. I was thinking about returning with Alexstrasza, but I don't know.. Well, any advices? :D
cut 1 brawl and at least 1 revenge. Do you plan on beeing the destroyer of zoolocks? If you have geddon both revenges.
Ysera > rafaam
+Not bghable, huuge lifepool needs at least 3 attacks by non-big-minions, cheap spells/minions, more than one, the 10-mana-spell needs an entire turn
- flexible, decideable spell by rafaam,
=ysera >>>> rafaam
i had rafaam in a controlemagedeck once. You don't know how cool i felt, wenn i played rafaam with brann in the board, didn't play one of the picked spells. Controledecks Are reactive Decks. The rafaamspells Are basically proactive lategamespells that take an entire turn, and they er easily answered to
Adirionally you Need carddraw. So my Suggestion is:
I have Baron Geddon too, I'm just not so sure about it being as valuable as before in CW.
Wouldn't one Brawl hurt too much the Paladin/Zoolock match ups?
I'll put Ysera back, I tested Arch-Tief Rafaam and he is too slow.
So, I made some changes, I just don't know if I should cut both Revenges and add Baron Geddon. I added Elise Starseeker because I think she can be a win condition against mirror/Control match ups.
Harrison Jones is more a 'meta call', when I'm seeing a lot of Paladins and Shamans, I put him in the deck. Against Secret Paladin he is really useful, as we don't have a easy way to deal with Tirion Fordring.
About revenge, I have my doubts.. Is really two necessary? In my anti-aggro CW with Elise I use it, but Control Warrior decks already use two Brawls, wouldn't this be enough?
well you definitly need carddraw, you don't have any at al, that makes yourdeck inconsistent.
geddon is strong vs zoo because he has to either finish the next turn or deal immideatly with it. if he slences it,he can't silence your belger and you still have a huge minion standing. if he kills it, you just got yourself a2 dmg aoe plus a taunt. btw. without some armoring up via cards (shieldblock) your shieldslam looses alot of value.
didn't see the harrisson, you should remove it, basically the only weapon for cw to be worth removing is doomhammer. all other weapons aren't worth it.
In this deck we draw cards with acolytes/slam and sometimes with Harrison. Should I cut them?
What I love about Control Warrior is that it is always viable, it's all about how you tech it :3
Do you prefer a standard CW or Elise with all the anti-aggro stuff? I play both of them accordingly with the meta, but I don't have a position about which is better.
Edit: I was thinking here.. and If I replace Armorsmiths with Shield Block?
I was thinking about this change too. I always loved Sylvanas and the mind games she causes, but it's all about the meta. A lot of times she doesn't provide great value, don't impact the board, et cetera.
Thank you, golden Garrosh is amazing! Congratulations :D
This was my CW deck when I reached 500 wins (in legend also). A bit old but you are correct, it's all about meta. As you can see 2 Sen'jin Shieldmasta in there. So just experience with different cards.
Initially I had Baron Geddon also, but then I swap him out. I dont remember the reason though :(
well i don't like the elise. yes, the job ofher is to imrpove fatiguegames, buthow does she dothat? by replacing your "unused" cards. whichare in your deck basically armorsmith, taskmaster a late drawn acolyte, maybe slam, bash or a weapon if drawn late, the rest are basically downgraded by elise.. your cards are to valuable to replace them with other legendaries via elise.i d recommend alex, or if you realy want 2 brawls, geddon and revenge, replace elise for revenge. and if you wantto improve your fatigue? take the 7/1 weapon, whose name i forgot,it removs at least 3 minions, big ones, on the otr hand it s a dead card on hand vs aggro. so i d call this a tech decission. revenge vs zoo (problem abut revenge is, that even though it s a cheap card you don't want to play it early game), alex vs midrage/combodecks and the weapon vs controle. you can also try out bomblobber or madder bomber, yesthey are uncommon card, butsome pro-streaming used them in his controle deck and it worked. Forgot which streamer though. Was kolento or sth.. lobber is a midgameminion+removal and madder bomber synergies with your acolyteo r armorsmith and ofc works as a removal vs zoodecks., so if you want to even out your manacurve by getting some midgamedrops they re quite fine.
Alexstrasza is the first card I crafted and she was removed from many Control Warrior decks for being too slow in this meta. Did anything change?
Elise is good against mirror/Control matches, I put her in the deck if I'm seeing a lot of Priests that day. I was thinking about Gorehowl, it helps control the board and can provide some unexpected lethal with Grommash plus activator. I'm having some problems with the priest match up. It's a fatigue game and I feel that I don't have the reach to finish them, they have a lot of removals, Deathlords and Entomb. And when I play with priest, I see CW as a favourable match, so I don't know how could I tech the deck or what I should do to improve this match up.
mhm, haven t played cw since entombpriest got big. sorry, can'thelp ou there, but i dsugget trying to outfatiguing from the start. meaning gtting out ysera after the priest monkeyd (or allentombs and cabals are out, especially with gorehowl and doublebrawl you shuld have enough removal to outsstain the monkey unless the enemy luckily draws the monkey early. if she doesn't monkey to get those ntombs through she will lose the fatiguegam easy. i might sound alittle arrogant here, especially as i said i haven't played cw for a while. but as contrleplayer you need to varie your playstyle dependend on enemy. if you win viafatgue useyour grom as removal, don't play your acolytesunless you need the carddraw and so on. and i don't realy see cw winning against cp befor fatiguemode.
plus you have to realise that you cannot take revenge for earlygamedcks and on the other hand want to have a better lategame.
Twobiers a German top100 legend Player and streamer currently plays a cw-Deck with Double brawl Double revenge and Elise. I am sorry for criticizing :-)
i cannot copy the Link to his todays Video cause it opens via twitchapp. But you can Look him up ;)

I would say no to Arch-Thief Rafaam.
Baron Geddon works incredible well against Paladins and Zoos. Will save you more than Arch-Thief.
Always Squelch.

I made some changes now,
Seem good to me, but if you have problem against aggo, try swap out Sylvanas Windrunner for Revenge.
Good luck on your road to 500 CW wins . I got mine 3 seasons ago ^^

It looks like a really good deck, it's a normal control warrior, less greedy.. How is it going for you?
Right now I'm using this list:
I swapped one Revenge for Baron Geddon. Sometimes I change Harrison Jones for another tech card.

Fand he sais Harrison is a keycard. Not tech for his Deck.
