It is a playable deck, you have decent AoE and healing to deal with aggro and hunters but you have very hard matchs vs a lot of Tier 1 decks like quest rogue, quest warrior and control mages.
Before last rotation and nerfs shaman was GOD tier class, every single fucking card in that deck is broken, unfair and undercosted, in comparison with that abomination yes, shaman is bad now, but compared with other classes shaman is normal, not shit like warlock now or hunter before Un'Goro but far from power he have in previous meta.
Not strong enough for a real legend push unless you are a seasoned player. It's a good deck it's just not optimal in this meta. I can see it getting better as more cards are released.
Jade shaman (with some elementals like Kalimos sprinkled in) is much better. Just go heavy on anti-aggro tools and put in spirit echo and/or ancestral spirit to outgreed other decks. Works pretty well up to rank 3 but that's where I stopped last month. Should push to legend for sure, it's not like a tier 5 deck.
I went to rank 3 (current season) with my elemental shaman deck, but stopped playing after that because of the fluctuating popularity of quest rogue. Quest rogue dominates elemental shaman in every way, so I stopped playing.
There's a few cards that make the elemental shaman deck very good against some decks:
Devolve:
- Negates murloc synergy and silences murloc related buffs.
- Silences all minions in general including SunKeeper Tarim buff and Tirion
- Bye, bye silence priest big ass minions.
-Devolve completely demolishes living mana. It removes all of the druids mana, making them lose the game instantaneously with one card.
Kalimos primal lord
- Very good against burn mage as it can heal your face after Alex.
- Just an amazing card
Spirit Echo
- This card enables you to compete with ANY control decks if you play it right.
-Use it with cards like Servant of Kalimos and Stonehill defender for infinite value, like Dragon priest. Enables you to compete with priest and control warrior decks.
- Spirit echo with heals cards, like hot spring guardian for extra heals which is very valuable against burn mage.
So these aspects of elemental shaman make it really good against control deck and some aggro decks, however it sucks against quest rogue, really badly...
shaman mechanics are pretty clunky, their removal is outdated, you will have a very hard time pushing rank.
volcano is easily the best removal that came with un goro.
but it isnt, volcano gives no tempo and cant be used as an offensive removal spell, only when you are behind is volcano good, but if you are too far behind or against minions like dirty rat etc, volcano can easily miss leaving you overloaded. if volcano was anything like dragonfire potion, shaman might be in a good spot.
Shaman is fine. I hit legend with it last month from rank 3, when the new murloc palladin was gaining popularity. Shaman cards squish icky murlocs. And no, I didn't play a single Hungry Crab lul.
Shaman is my favorite class. In this expansion he is was hit with the loss of some of his best best cards (which is fine they were too good). Imo i think jade shaman with spirit echo is better than elemental shaman but thats just my oppion.

If you play it in a control deck it works very nicely. Super efficient. You don't need it for offense. It is a means to gain card advantage and keep the board clear.

You really have to be a reaaally good pilot to get this deck to legend. It is a good deck, but it's currently outclassed by Paladin, due to the awful Rogue matchup. Were Quest Rogue to miraculously vanish, Ele Shaman would probably climb up to at least top tier 2 again. Now, however, you're better off playing another class except Warlock (in Standard at least, shaman's still good in wild I hear)
Shaman Elemental is a good deck, yes you can climb up to rank 5 with it, yes he have some strong mechanics.
But yes against War RNG (i mean Taunt sorry) the game turn around "does he play brawl after his new hero power?" and against Quest Rogue your only hope is to rush them with a Bloodlust. So it's not the strongest deck in meta, but it's alright.

control shaman will lose to priest, quest warrior and rogue, good luck climbing to leg. murloc paladin if curving out will also destroy shaman, shaman has no way of killing high hp minions efficiently. lightning storm need spell power to be good and will cuck you 50% of the time anyways. literally any minion with 3 hp in the first 3 turns of the game will stick against shaman.

I've beat priest, quest warrior, and rogue with it. It's not the world's greatest deck but it works fine and mostly it works because Volcano is such good removal against a diverse set of opponent boards. It doesn't matter if they have a divine shield, it doesn't matter how their health is divided up. Only death-rattle can protect board value against it. And shaman has a way of killing high HP minions, it called Hex, possibly the best hard removal spell in the game for its cost. Lightning bolt removes minions with 3 HP quite effectively.
Here is what I play for Control Shaman, it has about a 50/50 win rate for me. It is especially good against most of the agro in the field at the moment. It is weaker vs control but I've won a share of games against them. It won't light up the ladder by storm, but it's a nice relaxing deck to play when you want a slower paced game.
simple, is elemental shaman good enough to get to legend rank or atleast rank 5

i would say its good enough to get to rank 5 although it might take a while
