Possible that the rewards have been tuned up temporarily for beta (to get people full collections w/out dumping money) and they do a reset sometime? Getting almost half he cards in a day doesn't sound sustainable. Even great games gotta make money. Especially grinding PvE arena sounds too good to be true.

There won`t be another reset and the rewards/drop rates were even better in the closed beta before they started to tweak it a bit. Not allowed to talk to specific here, but the current system will stay.
Mind you that the PVE arena will get harder over time. The AI is scaling with your success and the games will get a lot tougher (rewards are also going up a bit then), so every decent player will switch to the versus arena after a few rounds of AI arena. The solo arena is more for people to get introduced to the arena style gameplay and the first few tries are really easy if you have any experience.
9 wins there will give you in general 2 boosters 100 to 150 gold some souls and 1 rare or better card. The same amount of rewards can be won with a few smaller amount of wins in the versus arena (~5 wins should give you literally the same)
PS: And you won`t get half of the cards in one day. If you are talking about the collection% in the player profile that is only the number of cards you own at lest ONCE, but you need most cards 3 times and the commons/rares are obviously way easier to get then epics/legends. I have opened around 80 booster and have a playset of every common, most rare playsets, but still epics are only at 50% (for a full single copy collection, not 3!) and legends are only at 25%.
Bethesda game; so I'm not surprised with lot of positive impressions from everywhere. Very happy, and can't wait to play. :D

Betrayer... In truth, it was I who was betrayed. Still, I am hunted. Still, I am hated. Now, my blind eyes see what others cannot: that sometimes the hand of fate must be forced! Now go forth... unleash the tides of Doom... Upon all those...who would oppose us.
The rewards are way better and it's easier to get the cards without spending a huge amount of money. Even the arena gives out better stuff (e.g. 150 gold entry and with a 5-3 you already got 2 booster packs 75 to 100 gold an epic card and 100 soul gems).
Well, I kind of agree, but I also feel like many people forget, that in TESL you need 3 of every card and your deck has 50 cards total... So even if there are "only" 400 cards right now (is that even correct? I'm not sure), this still makes a little less than 1200 cards to collect - in HS this would only be 800 cards. So TESL has to be more rewarding in comparison to HS.
Kinda, yes. The legends (which are the hardest to come by in any CCGs) are sometimes unique, meaning you can only use one copy in your deck (roughly 40 to 50% of the legends are unique if I remember correctly). On the other hand you are getting cards between two and four times faster than HS (depending on what mode you are playing and how succesful you are of course), so you are definitely outpacing the collection progress by quite a margin.
That shouldn`t come as a suprise because Hs has one of the worst reward system for any CCG out there and is highly profiting from the "blizzard charm"
No, I'm pretty sure that it's obvious that my post implied that it's a superior game, and I've moved on.
Right... but you're making it seem like you can't possibly play more than one game at the same time.
In this case the games may be so similar that it may not really make sense for much people.
That's mostly why I wanted to write ESL off anyway. I'm not married to HS' mechanics and was looking forward to something different, but the reviews are glowing enough that I'll have to take a look. Somehow I don't think complexity is going to win the larger market over though...
i got invite to the beta last week . It's a really cool and different look on Digital Trading Card Game. it's a sure clone of HS but has its own elements that makes it different to distance it's self from HS, like it has a really compelling camp gin or story mode broken down into 3 Acts with 10 fights each. and you aquire you beginning cards this way. and it also cards can become picked by the game at random to upgrade that card. i like it its different
I want to try this game since it is said to have way less rng than heartstone. People think it is fun to flip a coin and see if yogg wins the game for them. Not me.
It is also great that hearthstone is getting pressure from another virtual ccg. It could mean more rewards in both games trying to win players, but honestly low rng elements could be enough for me.
I know it's off topic but stupid game won't download.... I either get an error or the launcher just closes at once, anyone can help? I looked on their forums but apparently their devs are less interactive than a CW mirror and users are clueless on the issue....
You can also email the support or use the reddit forum where they have official support looking form time to time.
Don`t have the problem with the launcher, did you try to install a different game and see if that works (e.g. fallout shelter, it`s free if you dont have fallout 4 to test a game)?

I had an error message too. If you get a code try googling it. It turned out i had to uninstall and re-install all my C++ Visual (things, all 9 of them) due to a missing .dll.
I'm not going to go out of my way to try to get into closed beta, but will definitely check it out when open beta comes out. This game has the huge advantage that it is coming from a tremendously popular mainstream franchise. This guarantees a powerful launch, and will make it a hard game to fail. Though many interesting card games come out, few have the luxury of being from a major franchise and thus usually die out and fairly quickly.
Actually when looking at the most successful digital card games on the market, not one doesn't come from a popular franchise. Pokemon, Yu gi Oh, Magic (the digital versions are horrible, but since the physical card version is legendary it succeeds), Clash Royale (Clash of clans!), Mabinogi Duel (Mabinogi is a massively popular MMO in Korea and other parts of Asia), even Shadowverse which I am currently engrossed with (Granblue Fantasy was one of the top downloads in Japan for a long while, and Rage of Bahamut also very popular).
I'm happy to hear that besides it being 'elder scrolls' or whatever (I haven't played the games), it is getting rave reviews. Though I hear the rune/prophecy mechanic will lead to a lot of mega salty moments.
I took a brief look and it seems exciting. I like the more serious-looking artwork, HS has become a bit too cartoonish for my tastes (I realize people are different, but this is my opinion). The mechanics are fairly obviously more complex, but the game is still reasonably fast-paced.
I've been a part of the beta for a while now, figured I'd share my thoughts.
Firstly, I'm pleased to say that the game is very distinct from Hearthstone. The lanes mechanic is very good, the cards have diverse and different mechanics, although obviously there is overlap. There is also a very distinctly different power curve from Hearthstone.
I agree with what everyone said before about progression in the game, but unlike them I'm not as big a fan - it's almost too easy to get all the cards in the game with not too much time investment, which gives little incentive for me personally to work toward. I'm a completionist, I like collecting, so having the cards be so easy to obtain is kind of dull to me. Obviously I get that not everyone will feel this way, so the thing to take away from this point is that yes, collecting cards in this game is really easy.
The Arena mode is the best thing about the game, for me, but I say the same thing for Hearthstone. In it, you draft a deck of cards from a choice of 3 cards at a time, and after every game you can pick an extra card to add to your deck. The games against the AI were incredibly easy, I got to max wins with only one loss on my first try, but other than that an excellent mode.
When I originally played through the story mode, they had very little cutscenes implemented. I have since gone through it again, but my impression of it remains unchanged; while an easy way to get cards, the characters are uninteresting and the fights unchallenging. Playing against different decks every time was cool, but ultimately a very boring mode.
Having said that, the art and cutscenes in the game are beautiful. I want to find a source for all the art in the game to help make future Hearthstone Fan Creations, because damn so much of it is just great.
Sadly, I'm gonna have to end things on a sour note - for how well presented and beautiful the game is, it feels utterly lifeless. Every single character is unmemorable, none of the cards themselves feel like they have any personality - the one thing I can remember is that a card says 'I used to be an adventurer like you'. There's just absolutely no excitement or intrigue in the game for me. I'd love to attribute that to only having a passing care for Elder Scrolls lore, having played through about 40 hours of Skyrim, but I can't; I had absolutely no experience with the Warcraft universe before Hearthstone, and it managed to make me fall in love with it.
In conclusion, Elder Scrolls is a visually stunning, mechanically sound game that completely fails to capture my interest in any way. Which is unfortunate, because I really like a lot of the mechanical ideas they have going. Oh well, I'll just wait for Hearthstone to add them I guess.
Hmm...this lifelessness and lack of memorable personalities/characters is something I've also noticed across various reviews/impressions. One of those intangibles that is oh so important to grab people into the game.

The classic tier: Reno Jackson | Elise Starseeker | Brann Bronzebeard.
In case you want something different you should try Gwent, the beta is coming in september (a bit off topic here but still)

Let's just hope this game will be successfull, so blizzard can learn how to make fair f2p game. Getting 10 gold for 3 wins is just stupid.

I saw this thread last night and thought I would give it a go (Saw some footage a while ago and it looked alright)
So I signed up to the closed beta, they said subscribing to news and updates would increase my chances and I had to verify that with an email
The email didnt arrive instantly so I checked this morning and there it was to verify, an hour later I have been accepted into the beta :D
Just got my closed beta invite! Excited to try it out.
By far more interesting and beautiful than HS.

All in all it seems like a very nice game.
