Honestly if anyone actually just gets relaxed by emoting against me or even saying something on chat, I let them. :P If you're the bigger person, you let them have their moment and make then feel better, I mean they must have a preety horrible life if they really need to add you up and abuse you.
That is not necessarily true, and you know it. Stop pretending...
I'm not the kind of person who gets offended easily.
Yes, you are, and this thread is the proof.
Ah, now I will only respond to your post once because you are most likely the same type of person he is. As in you think just because I'm replying to you that I'm upset. This thread was a question as to why so many people are dicks. As stated by being a COD player to expect it there but am surprised there is alot of them on this game as I wouldn't class it as a brainless game.
Anywho, since its an awesome morning I'm going for a hike.
Well, that's actually a possibility and a concern. I in fact know a nine-year old who plays the game. Even though her parents have urged her not to do so she'll innocently accept the occasional friend request and as you might expect be on the receiving end of a tirade of insults and vulgarities. The so-called grownups in this game show a lot less maturity than she does.
And now you understand one of the more compelling reasons why Blizzard only allows a certain amount of emotes during gameplay.
I really like children dude, and they must be protected from abusers at all cost, but we already know that most of them are far from being very "innocent". I'm pretty sure other kids say to them the same things every few days...
Here's the deal. People are often jerks. Online, with some anonymity they are more likely to be jerks. HS is no exception. Deal with it how you like: don't accept friend requests; accept friend requests and laugh off the jerks; accept requests and cope. Whatever works for you.
I accept all friend requests after matches, and have never been salted. I send requests after people beat me with interesting decks so I can ask them questions or observe their play.
That said, I understand the limited responses we can make in game. I'm not above losing my $#!+ during a tense game, though there's so much RNG in any card game I usually don't blame the other person as much as life itself.

LOL.
First, no, I'm not like that guy, specially because I really like this game and I love the fact that a lot of people play it.
And second, WTF dude, being a good or bad mannered guy has nothing to do with being smart or not, even when we love to call this kind of guys "idiots".
So I was playing reno deathrattle rogue and got flamed by a legend #1000 player while myself I am rank 5. He told me to never ever be legend because I am a noob. We faced each other in the unranked playmode. FeelsBadMan
I really thought he will say nice deck dude since noone I know plays reno rogue. He was playing the demon kinda zoolock. Don't know just ignore those kind of people in Hearthstone and try to enjoy the game.
I honestly don't know why there are so many a-holes in this game, but I love it. I have a folder dedicated to screenshots of salty conversations. The best is when they do that when I'm streaming, then I get to share the laugh.
I always accept friend requests and yeah, a lot of times the guy just wanna insult me, but so what? I usually make fun of him and have a great time anyway, cause it's so pathetic that you can hardly feel offended. There are times that I meet a nice guy who just wanna talk about the game cause it was exciting. I made some HS friends this way that are still in my list after months, and even met a nice guy from my city!
Don't take things so hard. These people would never be rude to you in real life, I assure you, they are just kids behind a screen.
I worked in a trading-card shop for a while and I was genuinely surprised by the number of Aspergers/Autism Spectrum Disorder kids who would play Yu gi-oh or Pokemon or CCGs in general. Often the parents encourage it because it is a (mostly) non-destructive past-time which can keep their often unmanageable kids occupied for long periods. Sure some of these kids acted like top-notch arseholes, but if you kept your eye on them and offered a few encouraging words when they interacted with the other kids in a "normal" way they could often fit in enough to play. That said, there were plenty of rage incidents which made it uncomfortable as well.
To answer OPs question, in my experience CCGs tend to be a magnet for socially awkward or incapable kids. I would think that a similar thing minus the face-to-face human contact would make it an even more attractive hobby. I'm not a medical guy, but that's what I put it down to.
The majority of friend requests I get are either people who want to chat about game, are looking for someone to friend so they can do the spectate quest. There's always the odd smug pratt who wants to point out that you missed lethal on turn 7 or ridicule you for questionable card choices, but for every rage friend request I get there's probably 10 non-rage friend requests so I just have a laugh at the salty ones and move on.
I don't understand the mentality so many of you seem to have that accepting friend requests after a match is a bad idea. Of the probably hundred times I've accepted a friend request after a match, I can count the number of times the other person was rude to me on one hand. Honestly, when it happens it's kind of exciting, like opening up a golden legendary. I mean, it's Millhouse so I'm just going to dust it, but it's an exciting rare treat in the moment.
General experience making friends on Hearthstone has just been bad, mostly because of lack of chat before a random friend invite message appears.
I've gotten like 2 friends ever in game from HearthStone since Beta. One was an invite I sent, and 1 was an invite the other guy sent. The rest of the invites either went unanswered/canceled or ended up with some guy wanting to rage. The rest of my HearthStone friends are all from forums or from other games.
In comparison, I've gotten many online friends from games like WoW, StarCraft, and D3, some of which I've been gaming with on and off in various games for like 6-7 years now.
Damn that was a good hike. Appreciate the answers and reading everyone's thoughts.
I will keep adding anyone who sends a request. Although I may not understand why there are so many angry jacked up people I do get a laugh out of what they have to say
Well I have won over 5000 games of hearthstone by now, so I have definitely played over 10 000 heathstone matches(Absolutely no idea how many exactly, but A LOT!) and have only got maybe like 25-35 requests, A lot of them I have ignored based on their emotes and play styles, sometimes I add them out of curiosity and wonder if it's an asshole or someone cool. got few angry people but I have also met few cool people via friends request. So in general there aren't that many a-holes in hearthstone considering how rare it is for people rage-friending you.
I suck at the game, but I have fun.... BUT! Don't you dare ''Thank You'' or ''Sorry'' emote me! like wtf man?! Seriously though... I don't like emoters and just want to enjoy the game. Met some cool people online, mostly horny teenage boys that wants to know if I'm a G.I.R.L. (irl) pfft.
From what I've noticed, there really aren't that many assholes in this game. I mean, it's the Internet, so there's a decent representation, but compared to any other online game I've played, most people come off as neutral. The problem is a sampling one. Because you have to go through extra steps to talk to someone, less people are chatting at all. Rage is more likely to inspire someone to take that extra effort than comraderie, thus you're going to experience more of the assholes than the perfectly normal non-raging people.
Just look at the representation on here as a microcosm. Sure we have a notable amount of people who associate playing a given class or style with being worthy of disrespect, and a healthy dosage of people who use terms like "cancer" and "ebola" like these aren't serious problems killing people in the world. But the vast majority of people who post on here are reasonable, polite, and supportive.
I played Call of Duty aswell a game which is well known for alot of dicks and rude people but honestly HS has more rude players and it makes no sense to me.
U had a bad experience and so u want to share it ... ok, but dont kid us that HS has more rude ppl then in other games, that is simply not true. Or at least u cant prove that, since there is no ingame chat except between friends. For your statement to be true, u would have to get a friend request after every single game u play and be harassed by that person and even then it would still probably be fewer ppl then in CoD/Dota/LOL and any such game, where there is a pretty bad player experience overall, so feel free to share your bad experience, but at least dont add to the bull***t ;-)

Are you going to be ok?

Just remember the good times!
If you want to see a really bad community, try dota. You will love HS community after that!

I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.
There are 2 kinds of people in this world: dicks and cunts.
And everyone's an asshole.
The most skilled are all 3.

It's a poorly executed Team America: World Police reference.
