I'd love this, it's not like you actually miss out on a conversation since it's only emotes and 99% of the time they are used it's just someone trying to be a d-bag when they counter one of your plays.
It's not so much about the tedium and/or automation - it's more akin to how telemarketers work. Telephones were not meant to be a mean to interrupt or harass a household, but using them to do so became common. Emotes were not meant to be a means to interrupt or harass, but using them as such has become common. Instead of being on a "Do not call" list it would be a "Do not Emote" list. Fair enough.
I do squelch every single opponent at the beginning of every single game (as long as I don't run control Paladin). I totally support this suggestion.

You can't harass members who play Face Hunter, nor are they compelled to make preemptive apologies or justifications for playing it. They don't hack or crack their opponents' game, they simply play existing cards that form a specific deck. If you suck at countering Face Hunter, you should blame the designers, not the community.
Personally I dont like the "unsquelchable" emotes: "Hmm.. I wonder" or "What to do, What to do..", especially because text bubbles cover the board and minions on it, so its harder to think about the state of the game in tight situations.
You do have a point there, but still, I find that the most cool thing about online games is player interection, in hearthstone we almost don't have any, all we have is some useless emotes and the option to friend someone you just played against, In my opinion this game should even have a chat in the matches, SO many times I wanted to talk with my opponent about something, not mock or anything stupid, just talk friendly, it just looks like you are playing against a bot every single match, and then I see this post, where people have a complete different opinion, I do get depressed.
That's because Rogue is the only class that requires half a brain to play right now. The people playing them require a small portion of thinking skills, not emote clicking skills.
wow.. what a bunch of crybabies. it's so frustrating and hard to squelch your opponent every game? srsly i never squelch even if enemy BM me, becouse it just helps me realize how much this person deserves to lose, so the moment i turn the game around i start counter-bming and voila.. this guy will think twice next time before he start spamming emotes. It's about sending a message

If him doesn't spam the emotes you would let him win? What emotes have to do with the game's situation? Saying hello or saying sorry doesn't change the cours of the game, the hearth of the cards does and if you believe in it you're going to topdeck some delicious and nutrious ways to be a honorable top player.
I just started to do "Hello" and Squelch on the beginning of the game and a Well Played on the end, every single time. Now it's so normal I don't even realise I do it. It helps
Permasquelch. The option to turn off emotes all together. There is nothing that would improve my quality of life in this game more. People wanna BM...that's their (obnoxious) prerogative, but I shouldn't have to see it if I don't remember to hit squelch at the start of every game. Emotes add nothing to the game for me...I think asking for the ability to turn them off is a reasonable one and something this game needs. ASAP. Everyone of us has been frustrated in this game...every single one of us has gone on a streak where the RNG gods aren't on our side. Having some face hunter emote good game when he just wrecked me makes me quit faster than anything else. Please blizzard! Give us the ability to turn off the jerks!
WTF you can silence the emotes of your opponent at the start of every match. or use masking tape in the top half of your screen.
Whu?? masking tape on your screen?? LOL ... that would definitely mean the emotes bother you. And why do that? when you can just squelch anyway?
I think an auto-on squelch option should be implemented. See that I say option? meaning it's a personal choice and nothing to do with anyone else how you feel on it.
man, i posted this a year ago... still people replying...
Look, ive played probably like 5k+ matches at this point. I oftentimes forget to squelch. Seeing their dumb ass toss a "greetings" out at me after winning, because "look how edgy I am for using the wrong emote" just irritates me.
You can take my irritation and try to hyperbolize it into me being a "crybaby" or a "MAD BRO" or whatever else the cool internet kids think makes them extra thick skinned thus much cooler than me, but the fact remains. A year later I am still irritated by a wholly unnecessary portion of the game, which could be solved by an easy to implement option. If it were implemented tomorrow at the cost of 25 dollars, I would instantly pay it.
And thats it, you dont have to squelch, you are welcome to be entertained by 6 pieces of audiovisual content that you have heard a million times before if you so please.
Sometimes I do squelch when I realise there is a huge potential for BM ( like when I topdeck a winning card )
I think they should at least prevent user from emoting if the opponent squelched them. Then you would at least not lose time emoting into thin air.
As for the auto-squelch, how hard could it be to add it. if these really annoy you... but think about that, sometime in tournaments people emotes. I mean sure there is no BM and that is how emote should be used. to add a little spicy to the game when RNG is on your side.

If you Hex a Murloc... it really isn't much of a change, is it?

I'd prefer to be able to auto-squelch threads on Hearthpwn whining about emotes, but yep, this would be a useful option for Blizzard to add.

I'm sorry you have such a miserable life, maybe you should try to do something about that.

you guys gotta be some really boring and butthurt people to mind about pointless "sorry".

Take notes pls.
And wouldn't that one less click just be so nice?

I think it's hilarious when people spam emotes because I do it back and kick their butts

+1 for autosquelch. No reason not to, unless you like BM.
Emotes are part of the game I think.
Sometimes I do squelch when I realise there is a huge potential for BM ( like when I topdeck a winning card )

Just do it by yourself. I do this every game. Not much of a problem.
Used to be a proud Handlock player.
Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
