posted a message on Does Anyone Else Think Arena is Worse Since Blizzard Boosted The Rates Of Getting Various Cards??

I was just coming here to complain about this.  I have been here since beta, and I have only ever had one real issue with any aspect of the game (emotes drive me crazy), but the new drafting system has massively reduced the amount of fun I am having.

I agree with some posters in this thread that the skill aspect of arena does not appear to be as much of a factor as it used to be.  I have not done research to prove that my winrate has dropped, but im sure it has (old winrate was 5.1 over 100 sessions, stopped tracking a while ago) Sure, its still skill dependent, i would guess my average winrate is 4 wins, maybe even 4.5.  However, this isnt my real concern here, although it is tangentially related.

The issue here is not the move to standard.  The issue is the much higher rate of legendaries in arena.  The arena meta has moved from midrange/face to a control aspect (which is totally fine, although im sure some people complain about it).  The issue is that in a control meta, great legendaries such as deathwing, ragnaros, sylvanas, etc can just win games outright no matter how poorly you play.

I would say maybe 1 in 5 games are simply decided by a legendary which you may simply not have an answer for (sometimes its my legendary, sometimes its theirs, sure, its "fair"). The legendaries are so strong right now that I keep deathwing in my starting hand, because I probably win 90%+ when I have that card! (this would be an example of a skill aspect which raises my winrate, so, yes, skill is certainly still an aspect).  If 20% of games are decided with a very very low skill aspect, this will reduce the overall skill aspect even if the other 80% play out as they used to.

The bottom line is a single card being drawn simply deciding the game is neither fun nor interesting, whether I draw it or they do.  If you get one of those cards, you build your deck around drawing the game out long enough that you can pull it.  This gameplay style is boring rote flawed gameplay.

posted a message on Having trouble climbing the ladder.

basically i tend to rank up on big win streaks, and then kind of tread water for a while.  just went from 9->6 on a winning streak 2 nights ago and then have been sorta stuck at 6.  rank 5+ is kind of a brick wall even if you are pretty good.  If you hit R5, be happy with yourself, very few people hit legend.

posted a message on Class card that is most broken when made into a neutral?

preperation/innervate would get use from almost every class and deck. probably fiery war axe and MoE as well.  Other cards would see a lot of use in certain decks, and make them OP. tirion, SWD flamestrike for control, mind blast flame imp for face, flamewaker archmage for spell heavy decks, sap for midrange, evolve for token.

posted a message on Dust The Curator & Moroes?

Compare curator to pre nerf Ancient of Lore, 4/6 taunt vs 5/5 is a better body, so if it draws 2 of 3 cards, its better than a card that just got nerfed for being OP

posted a message on At what rank you can consider yourself a good Hearthstone player?

as someone who considers himself a good hearthstone player, and doesnt have a ton of time, and somewhat consistently makes the climb, this is what id have to say.

You sorta gotta look at two factors, the first would be your max rank, and the second would be your typical rank (when you arent spending most of the month doing arena)

As far as max rank, only a few thousand people make legend any given month out of tens of millions of users.  Hitting legend, even once EVER, I think means you are a very very good player.  According to the stats, only 2% of players hit rank 5+ any given month, but id say hitting rank 5 once doesnt make you good.  Probably max rank around rank 3 is "good". among all my friends, who all hit rank 5 reasonably consistently, I am the only one who has gotten higher than rank 3, and ive only done it once, so im guessing my legend run was somewhat of a fluke (mixed with the fact that it was one of the few months I had plenty of time on my hands).

For average rank, although only 2% of players hit rank 5, I dont think that very many hearthstone players are particularly good.  Hitting rank 7 ought to simply be a matter of time for a good player, because anything below rank 7 is...honestly pretty easy, so you should hit rank 10 every single month for chest, and hit rank 5 any month you are actually trying, so you should regularly be hitting 10, and how often you hit rank 5 would depend on how often you play I suppose.

posted a message on Auto-squelch option please!

man, i posted this a year ago... still people replying...

Look, ive played probably like 5k+ matches at this point.  I oftentimes forget to squelch.  Seeing their dumb ass toss a "greetings" out at me after winning, because "look how edgy I am for using the wrong emote" just irritates me.

You can take my irritation and try to hyperbolize it into me being a "crybaby" or a "MAD BRO" or whatever else the cool internet kids think makes them extra thick skinned thus much cooler than me, but the fact remains.  A year later I am still irritated by a wholly unnecessary portion of the game, which could be solved by an easy to implement option.  If it were implemented tomorrow at the cost of 25 dollars, I would instantly pay it.

And thats it, you dont have to squelch, you are welcome to be entertained by 6 pieces of audiovisual content that you have heard a million times before if you so please.

Lol i just heard this stupid ass argument yesterday.

    MAJORDOMO+RAG = 15 HP!

So what is the fear here? you have sneeds, and they burst thru sneeds, majordomo, and ragnaros in one turn?  thats 22 HP.

"Im just so fearful of the SWD->BGH->double shadowbomber-> mind blast combo!"

voltron puts out 16 damage without cold blood, you dont need to combo it with anything to end nearly every game, and worst case mimirons head is 1 extra mana for a yeti.

i'm rank 2, i've only lost twice vs control warrior this season,  what amused me is this: "  you just have chosen to not include any of the finishers in your deck for god knows what reason. "  and yet Kolento, the best player in the world is running 2x violet teachers  and no finisher as well

so a never legend scrub asking what rank people are.  i mean in all honesty i think lording rank over people is kind of pathetic, and your post was particularly vapid, but at least have an impressive rank if you want to act elitist.

he asked for finishers in a miracle rogue deck, when there are like 100 and he has none of them.  learn context scrub.

    ^^^

    Are you rank 20?

im currently rank 5, and have hit legend before.  What about you?

And maybe im just not good vs control warrior, but I would guess my win rate is safely >50% vs everything but the obvious handlock and control warrior.  I find that i beat warrior nearly 100% until i get to rank 5+ at which point they know to just hero power every turn and keep your board clear and they eventually win with lategame.  Also death's bite is OP vs all our 4 HP drops, and the new netdeck is to run harrison jones to counter hunter.  Sap destroys druid, i guess paladin is ok.

Eviscerate vs armorsmith is even tempo and card trade and you are -1 armor, and you had to play SOME card to proc the combo, so that isnt happening if its a T2 drop.

Deadly poison v acolyte of pain, if you have it, is -1 card -1 health, and only a slight tempo advantage.

posted a message on Miracle Rank 5 to Legend?

there is no question control warrior is a hard matchup.  High health low attack minions are harder to clear for miracle rogue than other classes, since they mostly use spells for board clear (which means that a 4/3 is easier to clear than a 1/4 because the attack is inconsequential since you arent minion trading).  The clearest example is armorsmith vs a typical 2 drop such as knife juggler.  The deck also counters fan of knives since so many warrior cards benefit from taking 1 damage.

as far as finishers, i think you know the answer.  Malygos, leeroy, arcane golem, southsea deckhand... Miracle doesnt have trouble with finishes, you just have chosen to not include any of the finishers in your deck for god knows what reason.  Seems like your best option will be either replace teacher with (insert any charge card here), or replace teacher, 2x cold blood, 1x FoK with Malygos, 2x (whatever dmg spells), 1x blade flurry.

    Quote from ThatBilboGuy »

I know this is off topic, but it just occured to me how disgusting Antonidas would be in a rogue deck  o.O

lol wow.  Archmage + preperation -> fireball (the one you got from prep) -> preperation -> fireball would be too broken for words.
