That led to the topic of the Patron Warrior deck and the balance issues that such a deck has raised since its arrival in the Blackrock Mountain adventure. Dodds acknowledged that Blizzard is monitoring the situation, but notes that there are no changes incoming as of yet.
"It's certainly something that we're paying attention to," Dodds explained. "Certainly, there's a lot of community feedback around that card and that combination. But we are always very cautious about stepping in and making any changes to the environment, unless we feel it is absolutely necessary. So it's certainly something that we have talked about and something we will continue to talk about, but we're always very cautious about making changes, because it is so important to us that when we put a card out there, that it feels solid and it feels like 'Hey, I got this card in a pack and it still feels like it's that same card.'
"So is it possible that change will happen? Maybe. It's certainly not something that we're planning to do right this moment. And it's also possible that with the addition of all of these new cards that are coming out in the Grand Tournament that big changes will happen there. So all I can say is, it's something that we do pay a lot of attention to, but it's also something that we do absolutely not do lightly if we're ever going to change a card."
My comments: Well, they said the same about Undertaker and he got nerfed a few weeks after GvG expansion anyway. They could instead nerf Berserker and Warsong and leave Grim alone as he's not really used in the other 8 classes. Also I really hope they nerf Dr. Boom and the rumors are saying both Boom and Grim will get the nerf. From another forum, insider says: "My uncle who works for blizzard told me Boom is getting nerfed in the expansion patch. They plan to make the things he does less good." Well one can hope the nerfs either happen the same time the expansion goes live or very shortly afterwards. I expect the meta to change drastically and for the better after said nerfs happen and it will also free a slot or two for other powerful cards once Dr. Boom/BGH is no longer an autoinclude.
Leeroy and Miracle got the same treatment. Generally you do not expect a nerf once a new set of cards is coming, since they want to see if things will change due to the new cards. The exceptions come when the new cards directly create or enhance the problem, such as eaglehorn bow not allowing for secret decks to work and auctioneer in the face of spare parts.
So yes, wait until september before any nerf is coming.
Dr. Boom only if he still shows up everywhere after the new set releases, instead of NEW cards from that set. I don't think they'd let Dr. Boom just sit there as the eternal champion of the big drops and I don't think they really want to power creep him further either.
I genuinely don't believe there to be an issue with Grim Patron, Dr. Boom, or Frothing Berserker, but rather with Warsong Commander; Warsong is the glue to each and every combo that makes it unstoppable. I typically play Preist so if my opponent uses his Grim/Frothing/Warsong combo to kill my minions instead of hitting me in the face, I usually don't have a problem with clearing his board the next turn with Light Bomb or Holy Nova, at which point half the time they concede immediately.
To me the fact that Grim is only played in Warrior decks speaks volumes; if he was used in all decks and was OP I would understand a nerf, however he is only really viable in a warrior deck because it allows him to charge. If you change this aspect he won't be OP any more.
sadly, that shows EVERY SINGLE DECK... If we could filter to 'non-arena decks + NEW decks' or on the line of 'regular decks' instead of including the ones that are SUPPOSED to be BUDGET decks... We would see a much, I believe, MUCH higher %...
They haven't nerfed boom yet, they aren't gonna do this yet.
I think Boom has become the high water mark for expensive cards. They will check any new card against him and if they are significantly stronger, will get toned down. If they are same or worse they will go out as is or get a small buff.
Berserker combo got enabled by Grim Patrons themselves. Whirlwind effects are only as good as powering up Berserker as the amount of bodies you have on the board, and Grim Patron generates an insane amount of those. GPW simply uses the potential of this card to the fullest, just like it does with Battle Rage.
Not saying that GPW should be nerfer - it's a fun deck to play as or against, and much more welcome thing to see than face decks. Planning your plays a few turns ahead, denying card draws (some guys still keep pinging Warriors in the face on turn 2), strategically placing key cards like Belchers or Loatheb - that makes for some intense games, if difficult to win.

Totally agree with you, its warsong that makes the wombo combo work, not grim patron. make her more expensive or make patron a 4/2 or something
Grim Patron or the deck is by no means OP. It has bad match-ups too and you can counter it. No Patron Warrior ever wants to run into a handlock or ramp druid. It also has the highest skill cap in the game.
It is very simple. Miracle Rogue didn't get a nerf until everyone and their grandmother was playing the deck. So; do you want to see a Grim Patron nerf? Stop being a scrub, bite the bullet and PLAY GRIM PATRON! EVERYONE! Suffocate the meta with the deck, there needs to be as many playing Grim as play Facehunter. At one stretch this morning I played 7 facehunters in a row. That much Patron would force a response.
I reckon I'm actually seeing less Patron Warrior now than I was two weeks ago though. I've personally never had too much of a problem against it, but I've played almost exclusively decks that have a favourable matchup against it since it became a thing.
The Patron Warrior cry babies are back. All the 100000 of time where grim patron lose cause of bad carddraw never get mentioned. People talk like they always have perfect draw and 100% winrate so funny.
Awe...a deck that will outdraw it's opponent by 10 cards crying about loosing only when they don't draw their combo. Shut-up. lol
Clearly, you're a Patron player. I like it though, keep playing. The more try-hards that turn to the deck for stars, the sooner a nerf will happen.
The only issue with Patron is the Emperor. Patron itself is a balanced card, and frothing+warsong has always been there. Without Emperor there wouldn't be a problem, it would just be a really strong deck with some good matchups and some bad matchups. A lot of the crazy warsong+double frothing combos would stop right then and there.
Grim Patron itself is might be ok it's just the entire combination of warriors utility with it that is the problem. Somewhere in the mix of Warsong, frothing, emperor, Grim patron and all the whirlwind effects is the issue. And it's very hard to get the correct call. Look at miracle rogue for example. It took them 2 nerfs to both leeroy and gadgetzan to get it nerfed. The reason why it was nerfed was because it wasn't interactive and patron warrior has the same issue. This is why I believe the deck (not necessarily patron itself) will get nerfed. Also pretty much anytime they have said they are looking at something it means a nerf incoming. Although it might take a few months until they see if you the expansion has an effect.
As for Dr boom I do think it's OP, its simply too much value for its mana cost. And even though it's in almost all non face decks I think they are more reluctant to nerf it because it doesn't have much competition in the 7 slot and it's still at least somewhat interactive i.e. it lands on the board and the opponent can do stuff to it and it's not completely out of control. It can't do any crazy combos and kill you in 1 turn like patron warrior can. And since it is interactive blizzard seem to quite like that stile of minion and play. However I do expect it's too much value and will also see a nerf especially if there's no 7 drops that compete with it in TGT.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

They won't nerf Grim Patron, that's for sure.

My battlenet tag isn't actually Penisbong69.
He isn't because I don't have it yet...
Grim Patron or the deck is by no means OP. It has bad match-ups too and you can counter it. No Patron Warrior ever wants to run into a handlock or ramp druid. It also has the highest skill cap in the game.
It also gets incredibly crippled by Harrison Jones in much the same way the Dr. Boom gets countered by Big Game Hunter.
I dont think either of those cards are op.

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
Freeze Mage. No Dr Boom there.

is not played in every deck because no everyone has one, if i had a dr balance my decks would have only 29 slots.
Grim patron is not the problem, the problem is Frothing Berserker, he should gain attack only when FRIENDLY minions take damage.
Grim Patron itself is might be ok it's just the entire combination of warriors utility with it that is the problem.
