I know many people have made threads about this topic before but I never saw a true Idea I liked. This idea is not for overall in-game achievements it’s very specific to ladder play and they also help with a few problems for newer players. I would like your positions on this idea so please comment if you want.
Ranks 22-16
Any player that holds a rank in this range or higher will receive 60 dust at the end of the season. What this does is allow newer players just starting to have a greater success in crafting cards they need and or want.
Ranks 15-11
Any player that holds a rank in this range or higher will receive the season’s card back and 60 dust. I think you at least have to put in effort to get a card back. Also dust is better for newer players then card backs.
Ranks 10-6
Any player that holds a rank in this range or higher will receive 60 dust, the season’s card back and a free arena run ticket
Ranks 5-1
Any player that holds a rank in this range will receive 60 dust, the season’s card back, a free arena pass and a loot bag. Loot bags can hold a number of things; anywhere from 50-200 dust, a golden card, 50-200 gold, an arena pass or the very rare bonus star ticket. Bonus Star tickets give you 1-2 bonus rank stars when it is spent.
Legend Rank
Any player who holds the rank of legend shall receive a legacy card print that is printed for that season, a loot bag and the season's card back. Those in the top 50 of legend rank will also receive a legacy hero portrait. Legacy art is just alternate art that I would hope would be really cool.
Legacy art can be purchased with in-game gold (2000g) or real money ($1.99-$2.99) but only after 6 seasons of its original print date has passed.
I see your point but when I created the awards I had to put a value on each one. 60 dust I think is about .50 cents give or take in real money which I think is okay to give out. But I at this point don't know how to really value alternate art because we don't have it in-game so I thought it best to not give legend players the other stuff. Maybe a loot bag would help but I just don't know but I do see the point and will try to work it out or add something else to the pot.
I hit legend today and I'm no where near to completing my collection. Most legend players don't get there with having every card in the game, it's more about the plays and the mental aspect. If Blizzard followed your current ladder achievements, I would stay at Rank 1 to be honest.
I have no hate for those who reach legend, i will never take the time to try and reach that goal so its whatever to me. It really is just a value this for me. I am not opposed to giving them things I just felt like it would be meh for those at least that reach that rank consistently. But I have been thinking it over and I may just add a loot bag to that rank achievement.
@H2050 I already seen his thought my friend, that where I got the idea from. His achievement ideas are more overall achievements and they don't really help new players catch up but I like his stance. Thank you good sir for posting this though. ;)
Rank 25+: 5 dust Rank 24+: 10 dust rank23+: 30 dust rank22:50 dust rank21: 100 dust rank20: card back + 200 dust rank19: tespa card back rank18: random gold common rank17: random gold common rank16:random gold rare rank15: random gold rare rank14: random gold epic rank13:random gold epic rank 12: random legendary rank11: random legendary rank10: random gold legendary rank9: adventure mode unlocked for free ( gold refunded is already purchased ) rank 8: all gold commons from all adventures rank7: all gold rare from all adventures rank6: all gold epics from all adventures rank5: all gold legendaries from all adventures rank4: get all gold commons rank 3: get all gold rares rank2: get all gold epics rank1: get all gold cards ( including promos ) legend: get invited to blizzcon ( expenses paid), win 50 000$ and a new car. Also +5 dust.
This doesn't seem to be a thread about ladder achievements, though. Just seems to be another "hey Blizzard give me more cards for free" thread.
Would I like more stuff for free? Of course. Everyone would. Which kind of makes the whole discussion meaningless and worthless.
No not really, at least that was not my intent. I really think at the moment the ladder system is just boring and carries no reason to do so other than to try and reach ladder. One thing I think you should try and understand is that for new players (which I am not) coming into the game will find is harder and more costly to enter the game. Most casual players will only really receive the card back and dust in my opinion but stats on that would be great. To me and I hope you can agree is that we need something other than legend to achieve on ladder.

if you dusted the average pack of hearthstone classic, it would be 40 dust. packs individually cost 1.99... so 60 dust would one the bare minimum of luck be 3.00 average.
if they do any kind of -exclusive- reward it will never be anything a normal player could not get on their own.
500 ranked wins, golden hero... it's more of an achievement to do that then to hit legend, yet alternate art options for a hero as a seasonal reward would obviously be way cooler but way easier. catch my drift.

the only way you can ever say someone is netdecking... is if you've seen those decks yourself... on the net. which means you had to have been looking...
Achivement system would be a great addition to the game. I would see it as something like that:
Rank 20-15: a card pack
Rank 15-10: free arena run
Rank 10-5: a card pack and one free arena run
Rank 5-1: a card pack, arena run and 100 dust
Legend: a card pack, arena run and 100 dust and 100 gold
Top ten legends: a card pack, arena run and 100 dust and 100 gold plus a special card back.
Blizzard wouldn't loose anything but encourage people to play more.
While I am glad that you commented I think this is something that I would like to NOT see blizzard do. The reason why I did not give packs as rewards is because then there would be very little reason for anyone to buy packs with gold or real money. Dust is okay because one player does not get an advantage over another because they can theoretically craft the same card and be even again. Giving packs would really lose Blizzard money.
I'm 100% with Noxious here. No reason to give more card packs to players who climb higher on the ladder who (theoretically) have better cards already.
Like his idea of Guild Up tokens you can use to turn your regular cards into Golden versions as you climb the ladder, where you can get a common at rank 15, rare at rank 10, epic at rank 5, legendary at Legend. Except there would be a new mechanic where whenever you use a Token for a card, you'd still just DE it for the original dust amount. Sure that can be coded into the game, right?
if you dusted the average pack of hearthstone classic, it would be 40 dust.
No, it would not. Everyone who has done the calculations across a large set of packs agrees the average is between 80 and 120 dust per pack.
40 is the absolute minimum, so it is trivial to prove that it cannot possibly be the average.
meant for that to imply the standard pack. which is 40. nevertheless saying 60 dust is 50 cents... even with your spenders collected numbers... still the '60 dust prize' is worth far more than that.

This can pretty much be the worst idea I have seen this week - it would lead to simple thing - pay to get more rewards. Casual players would be falling further and further behind while loosing interest in the game because it would look more and more like P2W. Also with "more rewards" for rank I am pretty sure we would see agro ladder like never before because it is competetive and cheap.

Ok I see your point but I don't think that it will be any-less worse then it is now. People who play aggro to climb will always play aggro to climb; if you get me. I really do not see how casual players would be falling behind can you please explain?? I mean if you are looking at the ranks as if I am rank 1 then I have an advantage over rank 20 somethings then I can't except that because I got more achievements. Those who reach rank 5 - 1 the majority of them (not all) have spent money and a considerable amount of time reaching that rank (even if they played aggro decks). They in essence already have an advantage of those causal players. There is a reason that I chose to give dust as an award for those in the lower ranks. Let me explain.
Casual players are players who will likely play for a couple of hours maybe in arena or on ladder but does not matter. Overall casual players look to just complete their quest, build fun decks and have fun. For those casual players who don't like arena or who have to wait for gold to pile up to enter back in, need a chance to build those fun decks or play with cards the see as good. Giving dust is a great way to make sure that causal players and intermediate players have something to help with collection building and pacing. I don't think we have to have achievements like this right this second but add another expansion and see how hard it will be for new players to play decks they want to play. Don't even get me started on casual mode itself.
People who play aggro to climb will always play aggro to climb -
Thats not necessary true. A lot of players (me included) are playing ranked to slowly grind 500 wins and don't really care about what rank we end up with. If there would be however something to get from getting higher rank a lot of us would switch to deck with higher winrate and to "try hard" mode. At least for myself I have to say I would consider it at least, even though I utterly hate playing face decks, I would just know that instead of 15 minut games with hard control I would be able to finish at least 3 games in the same time. A lot of casual players would simply go to "I want better reward".
Up to P2W -
At lower ranks you can meet a lot of "let me try this" decks, which are actually fun to play with and to play againsts. With introduction of "higher rank is better reward" a lot of players would go for "I will just copy a deck from proplayer that is tested and works" even if it would ment disenchanting cards that they don't use or are not considered competetive. These decks usually contain legendary cards and when casual / new player sees them it normally means for him / her unfair advantage for opponent. We both probably know it is not always the case but I am trying to take it from new players perspective and when I would just start and I would see the same decks / legendary cards over and over again through the whole season it would be a really off-putting experience for me.
All my friend list are ranks 15+ it's not cause they suck it's cause there isn't much into playing ranked past rank 20.. I am rank 10.. for the same reason.. why would I even bother?

Ok I understand but I don't think that is a good enough reason to not include achievements on the ladder. The ladder was created to be a competitive place where people test there skill but given that this is one of only 2 play modes it needs something for people without the time or skill to try and achieve. For example I normally sit around rank 9-8 when I play consistently (I work so not often), there really is no reason for me to stress going any higher because I am not looking to go to worlds, be in tournaments or chase after pros. Many people, sure, want to get 500 wins to get the golden heroes but that doesn't really enthrall newer players because in there eyes it would take them many months to achieve that, especially if they are casual players. These achievements are a bench mark and enthrallment mechanism for players to get better at the game and gives them a sensible and fairly reachable goals.
The achievement system that I created is not something that was created to change the ladder but work with the structure that is already there. Newer players will always feel left in the dust when they face other people with better cards. But consider this "I am a new player who can't get passed rank 16, and I have no money to invest in the game. I suck at arena but I still play with I have the gold to play to learn more about the game. I want to created Gromash because I think it is a cool card. I still get my ladder achievement, which is dust and at the end of this season I can craft him YAY! Now I have a legendary let me try it out." To me I think as long as new players and casual player are given tools to make them happy the game in there eye would be just fine.

I don't like the idea of not giving Legend players what a Rank 22 player gets. That's silly on any level.
Sure they don't need the dust, but you're giving negative reinforcement for achieving well. That is not going to leave players happy.
