This card is so good that you can see how good the deck is, Paladinstone over a year and this card is the problem. Paladin class is absolutely broken fix that and then look at the other stuff
Seriously. Any time Warlock reaches high win rates it gets nerfed immediately, meanwhile Paladin seems to get multiple archetypes approaching 60% WR every expansion.
I played Warlock at top 2k legend today, met 7 Paladins in 14 games, defeated 4 of them. No reason to envy Paladin.
The problem is that if they nerf the card too much, Warlock won’t stand a chance in the current meta.
I've literally been playing sludgelock at Plat 3 and getting about a 53-55% winrate with my terrible unoptimized meme build, what are you talking about? There's a difference between "Warlock won't be Tier 1" and "Warlock won't stand a chance".
If Blizz insists on it being a minion, than I think the current cost is the way to go. It may not fit the "theme" of the final reward for excavating, but it puts the snake in a pretty good spot - still decent but not as oppresive as it was. I say this as someone who absolutely hates the design of the card...
They could also choose to give the snake the extra health instead of the warlock - that would punish the bouncing and actually give you a chance to kill the warlock. I think they would still need to adjust the cost though to stop it being played multiple times per turn.
A better fix would be to make it a spell that summons a mininon.
I do hate the fact that it can be excavated twice though, so even if you survive the bouncing or steal it from hand they can just make a new one.
I'd say give it the same sort of scaling as the Rouge excavate legendary, have it steal 5 Health at first but when you excavate 8 times it can steal 10. I know the Rouge restriction was probably added because that class has more ways to bounce or copy cards compared to Warlock, but it would stop the snake from basically being a 3 turn timer
The rogue reward is a joke of a card - it isn't worth it without 8 excavates and I have never seen a single game where the 8 excavate requirement happened. I've even tried the deck in wild trying to get 8 excavates and then going to town with togwaggle scheme/gang up but you literally never get it - and making the spells cost 0 is not a good enough reward for doing it. It's the only excavate class not running excavate for a reason, I don't think this restriction is good at all because it makes the thing unplayable.

Playable at platinum doesn’t mean much.
