What is the deal with the extra tax since Runestones? I thought Blizzard said it was supposed to be cheaper now? It's more expensive! Before in Canada it was $99.99 for a mega bundle now it's $110.99. Everything is 11% more expensive. What sort of con-artist crap is Blizzard pulling?
I'm not saying it is NOT Blizzard, but there is a possibility that the increase in price comes from something else. For instance, on an iPhone, buying something directly from the mobile shop means Apple takes a cut. To avoid loss in revenue (because Blizzard always needs more), they increase the prices of the mobile shop.
For the actual prize, and often even the actual purchase, I check the website-shop. I can buy anything I want there, with no increase to pricing (yet). Not white-knighting anything or anyone, but the increase in price doesn't always necessarily come from the one offering the product.

Just an FYI, Tax rates are a government mandated value, and not something you can increase / decrease at will, based on how you feel. Trust me - I work with tax rates and the legal requirements surrounding these as part of my day job, almost every other day.
Therefore, if there HAS been a tax rate increase (as you suggest) then you should look to your governing body (in the UK here for example, it's the HMRC tax service) for reasons why. I assume there is a corresponding version over in Canada for this. But essentially, that's nothing to do with Blizzard and is a literal legal requirement, not Blizzard increasing their prices just to spite you.
Of course, if it's the price of the actual item (rather than tax amount), then that's a different thing entirely.
They will always be leftovers with these. they control the flow of money. they got more, you get less.
because the amount of
Runestones are in packages.
lets say you want a bundle it cost 9000 runes. but you can ONLY purshase 5000, not 10000. so you buy 2 x 5000 runes BUT 1000 are left....
so you are not going to hit zero....u will pay for more. those 1000 runes are money. they will use it to invest it in some stock market.
its a scam. use only gold and dust.
Except that there is no 9000 bundle and the preorders are 8000 and 5000 and - surprise! - you can buy an 8k and 5k bundle.
If there was a 9k bundle, you could buy an 8k and 1k bundle.
Yes, you there isn't a 2500 bundle for the Arthas portrait, but you could get a 2k and 500 one.
The only thing where you have to buy more is for the BG portraits that cost 100 or 300 - and that is intentional and has been explained a million times that mobile purchases and payment processing slaps a fat tax on small purchases and those $1 items have to be sold for $2.5 to compensate.
Imagine if your local supermarket engaged in this manner of pricing scheme; You can only buy groceries worth increments of $50. Any excess payment is held for store credit. This means a) the store ensures repeat purchases; it locks you in as a repeat buyer; you can’t spend the excess elsewhere, limiting your choices; and b) the store gets the float on the interest of your excess spending, whereas otherwise that money would earn interest for you. So they would lock you in, and reap further profits on your money, at your expense.
Would you willingly shop at such a store? Probably not without some further incentives. Costco and other retailers operate something like this, with membership plans, but are not quite as egregiously exploitative. But apparently Blizzard sees no reason to restrain itself.

a) Except that Blizzard isn't a supermarket selling the same products as every other supermarket but they have a unique product that you can't get everywhere else. So you can't get Hearthstone anywhere else which over a longer period of time means floating some credit doesn't matter. Hearthstone being unique is also your incentive to shop in Hearthstone.
b) True if you aggregate the small amounts over tens thousands of accounts but on the other hand there is no evil pricing structure. You can still buy the big bundles with money or an exact amount of runes which you can also buy as a matching bundle. If you are floating credit, it's because you are buying the small ticket items and even then you don't need to buy the big rune bundles if you are worried about Blizzard extracting interest from your 4 Dollar credit. If you are buying the bigger bundles, you probably gained more from the saving compared to an equivalent amount in small bundles than you would gain from interest on the same amount.

I checked all the formats and it's the same cost from the Blizzard store and from in-game both from my PC. That $11 tax never used to be there.
Hmm, that is very weird then. Maybe Blizzard did increase the prices on their own then. Nothing changed in Canada due to recession and the like?

I have been trying to find information on the cause online but no luck yet. Couldn't see nothing on forums and reddit.

I tried to buy things with euros not the digital currency of blizzard. Therefore I have no problem.
