This is one of the lower points blizz has ever reached in regards to balancing cards. Nerfing a card, that saw only fringe play, solely because of a card from a SINGLE class that should have been rotated years ago.
Shadowstep is a plague on balance, and it is impacting other classes now indirectly. Imagine the mentality of a company that nerfs an already low played card rather than nerfing a card that deserves it.
Agree 100%. Shadowstep should have been removed a long time ago. And here we are, with yet another lost opportunity to properly balance Rogue, as it remains in the core set for another year.
Sadly, entirely consistent with the awful development team that seems to have no idea what to do and just resorts to the same tricks they're familiar with, over and over again. The worst one being mana cheating.
For God's sake, come up with something different for Rogue already.
A 3 mana 2/4 is in line with Vulpera Scoundrel which saw constructed play. It’s not that bad guys.
dude this isnt the topic. This nerf doesnt hurt just this stupid OTK, its also a big nerf to other classes. Quest Priest as example. Its just another nerf for priest and Blizzard knows that.
I’m saying that it isn’t nerfing other classes because the card is still good. Just cut your worst 3 drop in quest priest and run a different 2 drop. Your deck is only very, very marginally worse. Maybe even very marginally better. The card’s power level has barely changed at all. The power level of decks that don’t specifically need to reduce its cost to 0 has also barely changed, and I don’t think you can concretely say they changed for the worse.

It is not the first time that Priest became the side victim... Hysteria got nerf because it was being abused in Warlock class for the stupid Wild combo.... oh now this makes me realize they didn't revert the nerf for Hysteria but they did for Kael'thas Sunstriderso it's okay to revert nerf for other classes, but not Priest...
It does matter. A lot. When you’re playing a minion for its effect, rather than stats, +1 mana is not worth +1/+1 in ANY universe. Decks running it weren’t running it for tempo, they were running it for effect. Many of those decks would prefer it be a 1 mana 1/1 than even its current iteration.
Adding +1/+1 doesn’t excuse the nerf to the mana in any capacity. It’s trash, and it’s a direct result of a classes single card that deserved to be hall of famed in the azure drake era. Almost Every rogue deck, EVER, in all of hearthstones history has ran it as a 2-of. That’s overpowered.
Shadowstep has been a bane since its inception, the added powercreep along the years made it even wildly better. Hell, even in Classic it's too good, imagine.

Ridiculous.
Yes, I hated that nerf too. Now my reno mage doesn't have a 2-drop, fuck.
