Lots of people are complaining about the server issues and how Blizzard seems incapable of learning from problems that have plagued previous launches. But the root of the problem is that there is no financial incentive for Blizzard to upgrade their servers just to accommodate the increased traffic on launch day, since there is no evidence that players spend less cash because of server troubles.
So I thought it would be nice to start a poll exploring whether players' purchasing decisions are actually affected by such server issues. Please pick the option that represents what you will ACTUALLY do rather than what you want Blizzard to hear.
I voted more just because of the new buy option. I clearly am not buying more because of the server issues. Those have nothing to do with my purchase other than the timing.
Just for the record though, I find it laughable to say that it is only because they are cheap. These problems are systematic throughout every major online release regardless of the company. Blizzard has the most obvious history of this because of the fact that all of their games are major online releases. It is not just the company but a fundamental problem with the way that servers must handle the load of massive amounts of encrypted authentication requests at once. Multiple people have mocked Blizzard pointing to small companies patching fine but theyre missing the point by a large margin. It is darn near impossible to have millions of people authenticating at once from day one with no issues.
I voted to spend the same amount I was planning on, because I want the cards. The fact that Blizzard is having issues with the store has nothing to do with my decision. Also, I'm only buying 15 packs, so I can't really punish Blizzard because if I get any fewer, I might as well not even buy any packs at all.

In sc2, d3, wow, etc.. I haven't purchased the games on the day of release, so I'm not well acquainted with what I now understand to be common release issues. I don't feel as though they've handled it particularly well though. The lack of information and the inability to even connect to b-net once today has left me fairly salty. I think I'll just be using my gold on arena rather than purchasing 40~ packs like I'd planned.
GG Blizzard, you are building up a strong reputation for yourself with this, once again, shit release event day... When I see how much "advertisement" you did with the twitter vote and all, and not be able to provide proper content on release date, LOL
People will still spend same amount of money, don't worry blizz, but your reputation is in free fall today!
I logged on today expecting to drop $60 on packs. At this point I'm over the hype and will probably just drop $20 wait until I see what cards I really want and just craft them.
You don't need a poll to tell you that we've had more than a decade of raging and tantrums on release days, and then the angry tears quickly wiped away when things settle down, because the games are just so damn good.
As always Blizzard somehow manages to completely ruin the experience on launch day...not that I didn't see it coming. Since I got 11k gold and 5k dust, I didn't plan on spending $ anyways so I guess this doesn't affect my decision.
Was intending on spending a bunch but now that I've had time to reflect on it and the launch hype is dying, I'll probably spend less.
Same here, I bought a 40 pack, got average cards so I was considering getting a 60 pack, but then the game kicked me and in the time it took me to get back in(still haven't gotten back in), I realized that spending that much money in addition to the 60 ill be spending next week on Guilty gear Xrd, was just silly.
Especially since I don't even have an idea what type of deck I'm planning on making. Maybe down the line when the meta settles and I have a better idea of the type of deck I'm trying to make, but right now I think I've spent enough.
On the real though, no matter how you look at it, it's really not a good look to have customers pretty much begging you to let them give you their money.
Not cause of the screwup tho, I figured so two days agow after playing arena with gvg, guess hype is a lil worn off by now. Shop closed isn't helping as well.
So I'm going to tell you a little story. I'm a fan of many different genres and I'm into single player RPGs quite a lot thus i'm really waiting for the release of Witcher 3. Now it has been recently announced that the game got delayed AGAIN to may of 2015.
That is a delay of several months guys and i'm really kinda sad about it just as many other people are. Does that mean everyone is screaming "omg cd project red fucked up!!!!!111!!!!!" or "we are not going to buy the game now omg!!!!"? The answer is no. Because sometimes developers struggle to deliver their product or simply run into some issues.
Does that suck? Yes! But is it woth crying like a little baby because we get to play the GvG expansion a day later? NO!
There is a big difference between a delay because developing the game is taking longer than anticipated, and a delay because of server load issues that have plagued previous expansion launches. In one case it is unforeseeable and the other case it is perfectly foreseeable and indeed expected (Blizzard must have statistics on the number of players they have, how many have logged in the past three days, etc). So for this to keep happening must mean that Blizzard made a calculated decision not to upgrade its servers to handle the load.
Plus, Blizzard is a mammoth game developer compared to an indie developer like CD Projekt Red and must naturally be held to higher standards.

At the moment I'm unsure. It depends how long it will take for them to stabilize this situation.
I still don't know if my first purchase got through...

It's only a temporary issue so I doubt this decision would be influenced a lot.

Be there, or be squared!
Guys can I join the rage trend?
What are the pre-requisites?

More like the disappointment trend. Pre-req is a heartbeat.

I live in Japan so it hasn't affected me yet. 2 more hours before home time! Hope it's working by then!
If you're happy and you know it... well that's good :)

From 60 to 40 packs.

120 down to 40. They can't even guarantee a EU release for today. Screw 'em. Some of that money is going on other things that deserve it.
this forum should be renamed to saltpwn
blizzard didn't kick your puppy, they're just slammed
