So the clue is in the title. After 4 years playing this game on and off casually finally hit legend tonight via Highlander Hunter.
The last time I came close was back in KoFT, 1 win away from hitting it with Bloodreaver Guldan but lost and inevitably tilted like a muthaf***a. I've always played control, enjoy it a lot taking time to work out best play and manage resources etc. Aggro almost felt like cheating (I know it's not).
Only just got back into playing properly with this nex expac and I guess the new ladder system helped also but what the hell, legend is legend right!? Can finally get this itch off my back and tell myself I persevered and done it.
For those yet to do it. Chin up, you got this. 24 hrs is a long time :)
Grats. Do to the multi-star mechanic, it'll be a little easier next time if you want to try for higher legend next time around.
Tis a fun feeling to finally see that star pop.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Congratulations. I have been playing since 2015 and this is the first time I am trying for legend. I had previously made rank 5 and never had the time or felt like doing the grind. I keep bouncing between rank 3 and 2. Secret Galakrond Rogue got me to rank 5. I could make it as far as rank 3 and then I would see demon hunters constantly and fall back. I tried Highlander Hunter and my results were about the same. I just kept hitting a wall at 3 star rank 3. Yesterday I started playing Dragon Spell Druid. Weirdly I have now only seen one demon hunter, but I see priests constantly. Yesterday I was beating most priests, but today the King Anduin's have been having all the answers. I finally by the end of the day made it to rank 2, and then fell back to rank 3. I am not sure what to play atm. I am thinking about going back to Highlander Hunter. What were your good and bad matchup's with it?
Hey dude. Hang on there, I feel your pain. That was me last month, bouncing around from D5 to D3, very frustrating. This month I mixed between Dragon Hunter and highlander. Dragon got me to D5 easy but I found it ran out of steam sometimes so switched to highlander. I found priest a good matchup. Try and bait out there Galakrond early if possible. Biggest issues were demon Hunter but did get easier post nerfs. I found exploding trap made the difference here. I think best advice I can give is try and play aggressive against control decks. Its easy to hold onto cards and wait for right time as you have so many answers for things but that's where I felt I was going wrong. If you have a card then play it as usually you will then be able to close out games with Brann, Zephrys or Nagrand Slam (very important card!!!).
He's not wrong though. They made it so easy everyone can get legend these days with little to no effort. And Highlander Hunter even more so, is just a free pass to legend.
Shoud've used a funnier picture for the comparison though. Like,
There is always a couple of dickheads who want to take the joy out of things: "bUT YoU DiDnT makE it To LegenD When Things WerE Hard". People said the same when Razakus, Pirate warrior, Aggro shaman and so on was a thing. Hell, I am sure you can find people saying that DH has made it easier for people as well.
I am happy for you. Enjoy some meme decks prior to ladder reset. :-)

It's not a "free pass" for me. I still can't make it to Legend. I must be the kid that doesn't know how to fly a kite = (
I mean he has a good point. At least for me it was harder before and that is the reason I only went for it 2 years ago and never again. Now since new system I will go for it each month, because there is reward for it and it doesn't require that much grinding (at least for me).
But there is another side to that coin - people that never been to legend before have it way harder. I had 10 stars right away with new system and I just play some random decks to D5 and then tryhard a bit, but there are people that have like 6-7 stars. And with that it actually requires serious commitment to reach legend. They need to tryhard all the way through platinum rank and not just D5-D1.
It might have lost a bit of value, but I still believe it is an accomplishment not everyone can achieve.
I'm getting a kick out of the 14 years olds in this chat who are already like "back in my day... way had to WALK to school, in the snow, uphill both ways!" .
Good for you man! It is absolutely nerve rattling to be that last win away, followed by euphoria once you win. Did you just sit there for a couple minutes staring at that gorgeous orange hexagon? I know I did when I got it my first time lol

And as a former WoW player, i have to say that this new system is the "LFRing" of the ranked ladder.
Hitting legend posts are also becoming a meme at this point. should go to Reddit , There are posts every second about hitting legend for the first time after playing 4-6 years.

The point of my images for comparison is before need hard work and specialization and now is just a kid's play but your image is better if the focus of the analogy is Everest only.

Hit Legend now: Everyone gets to legend, hold hands and sing Kum Ba Yah
Very good dude, I hit legend on two accounts. Highlander Mage on one, and Spell druid on other :D
next season I will try higher legend!
Good job getting Legend!

Yup, I don't care!
And please dont use clickbait titles for brainless threads like this one. You just wasted my time

Thanks for all comments, positive and otherwise!
Like EA used to say 'its all in the game' :)
