I am at rank 1200 and every win gives me +10 to 20 ranks....no matter what the rank of opponent is it is always + - 20 , anyone else having this issue??
Same here, my thoughts that it is broken. I am at 1000 and every win/loss gives + / - 10 or even less. That’s not the way it was before, where fluctuations were up to 100. Now you are barely moving anywhere.
My guess is that the MMR intended to be released in April is already in place since the recent update. We are playing players so similar to us in MMR that a win or loss is hardly significant according to the original ranking structure.
It's just the opposite. I've been as high as 24 and as low as 1300. You move up and down 80-100 sub 1000+ whereas you would know that rank 200 or so you're moving up and down around 20 on average.

Right, you gain/lose less at higher mmr, but the amount you gain/lose is also less consistent, at least in my experience. That's why I presumed that the amount of rank gain/loss he was describing was a bi-product of being at relatively low rank, because of how consistent it was. Then again, it's been a few months since I've bothered to climb to legend and even longer since I've been as low as 700. My memory is admittedly a little hazy on this.
The AMOUNT you gain/lose is more consistent at higher ranks as a bi-product of lower change (fewer numbers). The RANGE of change is consistent amongst all legend ranks, ie you won't ever lose 80 ranks from rank 30, but you often will at rank 900 and you won't gain 3 ranks at 900 whereas you often will at rank 30.
Up until the latest patch update a rank 900 player would expect at least a 40 rank movement all of the time. Through 35 games at rank 900, I have not once changed my rank by more than SEVEN.

This by definition would make the range of change inconsistent, but I take your point. However, just bc there is less room for change at higher mmr does not necessarily mean that change at said mmr would be any more consistent. And IIRC, I was losing a fairly consistent amount of ranking every time I lost at lower mmr, even though the amount of ranking I lost was far more substantial than that which I would lose at say 100-300. That may just reflect my personal experience and be representative of a statistical anomaly, but it was my experience nonetheless.
With that said, I agree that something is clearly wrong if you're not increasing/decreasing rank by more than 7 at 900 in a single match, much less 35.
I'm saying that across all ranks in legend there are ranges (100-200, 700-100 for example) and that the change in rank for a game played is consistent with these ranges. In that sense, no range is more consistent than another range.
Yes, it's insane. Literally just moved 8 for the first time... I'm shocked there isn't an official statement on this or more outrage.
I am seeing absolutely nothing on Twitter but I did see similar complaints on PlayHearthstone. I tweeted and e-mailed Blizzard a couple of hours ago. I will let you all know what they say.
Is it even bad to win and lose less ranks per game? It might take a longer time to climb, but you are also punished less for a bad streak.
If they are trying to make MMR a more important part of the game, I think this is a good change.
In Starcraft 2, they eventually let players see their MMR, which was hidden before. Nowdays, that number is all they talk about, especially at high ranks, and much less about leagues.
I don't like it because I literally have to go +14 games to improve from 900-800 which is about 110 games for me... It doesn't feel like the games are as important. Don't get me wrong I'm still having a blast; I love hearthstone. But I enjoy climbing and seeing legitimate changes to my rank. Going from 922 to 916 as I just did is after a 20-minute game is not nearly as satisfying.

This for me would be extremely demotivating, especially considering how much rank you typically would gain at this mmr. Definitely requires action from Blizz IMO.
I've just received word from a friend that is well connected (irl friends with developers) and they said it is a high priority issue that will be resolved as soon as possible. I imagine that means a day or two at most...

You're relatively low so that sounds pretty standard. Once you get to mid to high ranking it'll stop doing that

At around 200+ people were gaining 1-2 ranks per win, sometimes not even losing rank when losing a game.
It's not standard. 40-80 is the standard change in rank when you're 800-1200.

If you say so. I've never been below 700, I just recall wins and losses being more consistent with regard to rank/derank when I was lower.

I see what you're saying. Maybe if enough people contact Blizz they'll take a look.

It's definitely demotivating. Hopefully, it's changed by tomorrow.
Just moved from 902 to 901! lol this needs to get fixed -_-
