So. I've been watching RegisKillbin play some Budget decks of no more than 1500 Dust and having success at the Higher Ranks (3 to 2) and I've been wondering, can you get to Legend with a deck like that?
If you have the time to grind is it possible to get there? It would certainly put a dent in the "Pay To Win" argument wouldn't it?
I personally don't have the time to do this, but I'm willing to give it a go.
Anyone else thinks it's possible? I'd be interested to hear your views.
I reckon you can get to legend with the right deck and a bit of perseverance. a lot of decks have very strong, aggressive packages at their core, and you find you mostly win games before you even have a chance to use the flashy stuff.
I would say take the mid beast hunter one and add 2 copies of masters call, that will be great.
similarly you could do the same sort of thing with murloc shaman or zoolock as well. (carpets for zoo and probs warleaders for murlocs)
I have played some budget deck to Legend during various expansions, latest during Rastakhan. It can almost always be done, typically with Zoo Warlock or Midrange Hunter. I have not built budget decks for Rise of Shadows yet, so I cannot say for sure, but it should be possible again.
Magic Carpet being an Epic and Hunter losing a lot of early game in the rotation hurts a little though.
It is not that budget decks cannot be played to Legend. There are usually at least a couple that can at any time. It's just that it's a painful grind to get there with them - I'm not talking about 51% win rate, but simply about losing lots of games just because you lack powerful cards and the opponent goes ahead with their power plays and that is exhausting to experience time and again.
Crafting a budget deck makes no sense at all except for the challenge. Some good players are bored to ladder with the classic decks and want to be challenged. These guys can try to climb with a budget deck if they want. If you are a beginner, just craft a cheap but complete deck like midrange hunter. It costs 3k dust and is already the best version of the deck. That's the best way to show people that you can climb to legend with a cheap deck and beat those expensive mage/warrior decks instead of spending the same amount of dust in a incomplete deck. What's the point in crafting a tempo rogue deck without waggle pick and leeroy for example except spending 4k dust in a deck and struggle each game? Best way to waste dust.
If it's for the challenge, then i think it's possible but instead of your current 60% winrate to legend, you will have 51% and it will takes you hundreds of games to reach legend. Imagine playing midrange hunter without master's call and zuljin, ouch, hardcore.

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
The more important thing isn't getting to legend, but having fun along the way.

Simple answer is yes, its possible if you are a decent player.
Almost impossible if you are a newbie.

100%. You can build some cheap token druids that I'm sure you could hit legend with at the moment.
Dent to the P2W? How?
Because if you could get Legend with a Deck that costs 2000 Dust or less how is that P2W?
