You refuse to hear the simple truth, no matter how many replies in that 30 page monstrosity we posted. We DID vote with our wallets. We DO want things that separate those who keep this game alive from those who just enjoy it.
No shade to f2p players whatsoever, but it is a simple statement of fact that money spenders keep the game going. No one is ashamed of having something that distinguishes us from f2pers. And of course, you'd always rather the distinguishing perks to NOT affect gameplay so as to create a pay to win situation any more than necessary. Therefore, hero skins and card backs are the most obvious candidates.
I spend more money than most on this game. I'll enjoy my new priest hero, and I'll enjoy the fact that you don't have it unless you supported the game. You aren't owed anything.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Your point doesn't even make sense. They didn't announce that they will never have freely available hero skins again, just that there isn't one for the year of the dragon. You can complain all you want, but offering the mega-bundle really isn't a greedy cash-grab. They are making a thing and selling it, so that people who want it can buy it. Those who don't buy it aren't any worse off, or missing out on anything of actual gameplay value.
An actual of a cash-grab would be if they, say, reduce the appearance rate on legendary cards. Or increase the number of epic cards in the set. Giving players more options for pack bundles is just smart business that gives players more options.
I don't really think there is anything to complain about here though this type of action by Blizzard will certainly cause some people to be turned off. If they were truly about the people they would do both. They would provide this type of incentive for those that want to buy the mega-bundle (I have to admit, I am one of those) but they would make another, different skin available as an in game reward. By doing both you would get more people who felt good getting the f2p one and it might inspire them to spend the cash to get the other for the sake of completion. Some would just stick with the f2P and be happy thus avoiding all of the "feels bad man" vibes. I don't think we can hold it against them that they put a skin in the bundle because at the end of the day they are a company that is in this to make money. However, in this case, I do think they could allow us to have our cake and eat it too.
OP, are you a masochist? Don't you know the forum is full of fanboys? What did you expect by starting a thread like this one again?
Jesus Christ... Just let the fanboys spend all their money on this game and have their "precious" new priest skin, while we enjoy the rest of the content for free. :D Learn to take advantage of other people's flaws, dude. By doing this you are only showing you are no different than them. ;)
Exactly. I know Sherminator here is being sarcastic, but this is exactly the reality of the situation.
You play a game that you presumably enjoy at no cost to yourself, and you have the nerve to begrudge the people who make the game possible a fucking hero skin? That's not only ridiculous, it's against your self-interest. Assuming of course you actually play the game and not just bitch on forums, in which case we have a whole new box of issues to address.
By the way, if the person who said things like this hero skin "should" be earnable without paying reads this, what value system are you using to arrive at a "should" statement. Who owes who what with regards to a computer game?

100% agree with you there bud, nice post as usual.
Stop whining if you're a freaking F2P player, no you won't have our cool portrait because you choose to remain f2p and not support the game.

Let's not draw such a harsh line between f2p players and those of us that do pay. If there were no f2p players that Blizzard could try to convert to paying players, the game would die. This conversion rate is assuredly a huge focus within Blizzard. It is within everyone's best interest that paying players feel they get something for paying and that f2p players are happy to play and sometimes are happy to be converted to paying players. This is the line to walk to make us all feel appreciated and entertained enough to keep coming back. It isn't us and them, it is the hearthstone community as a whole and each individual perspective has at least some merit (most of the time).

I agree, I meant what I said when I said "no shade".
The only time it becomes absolutely appropriate to draw a line in the sand is when someone who is actively advocating for folks to spend less money on this game does so because they don't get a shiny they wanted. That deserves shade.
Furthermore, this ham-handed attempt at populism is based on a lie. There is no decree that no free hero skins will be released in the future. There is no particular reason to believe that. Mecha-Jaraxxus came out in 2018, but so did Lunara. So what the hell are we talking about here?
I love this game. I choose to support it. There's nothing wrong with a reward.

I apologize, I will stop machine-gunning posts after this, but there's something else I noted about the OP.
That last line: "But hey, do you guys not have $80?"
That is clearly a reference to the Diablo fiasco (for the 7 of you that don't know), when one of the announcers responded to the crowd's great displeasure at having the next Diablo game released on mobile platforms only with "don't you guys have phones?"
You just referenced a situation where hundreds of people spent hundreds or thousands of dollars to be at Blizzcon for the expected announcement of Diablo 4 and had just been told instead that they would not be receiving any game that advanced the lore of one of their favorite IPs, but instead a clone of an already-written mobile game. And yes, by the way, I was there that day.
To compare that serious act of malfeasance toward one of the most beloved IPs in all of gaming to a situation where you have to choose between purchasing a fucking skin or simply NOT doing so displays a lack of perspective only found in [insert the obvious American political slur that will get me banned if I say it out loud]. You are an absurd individual. I thank you for tossing that last line on your post and thus illustrating your absurdity all the better.

Meh, they went back to the way the hero skins started, except instead of $10 for just the skin you get a skin for pre-ordering.
Please note before we go into rage mode: Star Wars Battlefront 2's loot system, which was indeed P2W, would've been OK for a F2P title. Not GREAT-many other games are much less greedy-but OK. Even the worst offenders would be rather... meh somewhat bad in F2Pland. Still enough to complain, and F2P folks DO complain about such things, but not exactly rage material.
What makes the whole lootbox/microtransaction mess so horrible is that they are being put into full price titles. Pay to Pay basically. In a F2P title, a cosmetic reskin on a free character would be a welcome addition.
The ONLY questionable element going on is how much content the first free wing will look like compared to what was given before. I can see that being an issue if the free wing is much smaller than normal. I would be best if it was about as big as Dungeon/Rumble run while the add-ons were more content on top of it.
No, its not official. They said there would probably be some down the line during the year, just that with this xpac, there wouldnt be.

Yeah, but.....but let's be real.
It's pretty much official. :<
What a scandal: cosmetics that cost.
Where some people have a point, others really don't ever reflect on what they ask for or complain about.
I don't want to spend a dime, but for that money, I want it all.
Cosmetics are the only real way for a free to play game to make money, that's how it has always been.
So complaining about that is really kind of ridiculous.
Out of curiosity, has anyone even attempted a Hearthstone private server?

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Thank you, I will not be able to play my favorite card game for free without people like you. :)
