I did a similar test, and I found if you take Sonya Shadowdancer out of your Kingasbane deck, and repace it with Lilian Voss, you'll never run into Freeze Mage or Taunt decks...
Also, if you take Prince Keleseth out of every deck, you'll never run into Cubelock
I have had this hypothesis for many years now... without proof. But here is some:
Although Activision and its associated company Blizzard have stated that are not currently using this patent in any of there games, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to conclude... they are lying. When I first saw this patent I theorized that the most predicable use for the company would be the inclusion of it in Hearthstone. I also theorize that Hearthstone was potentially the testing stage for this patent (for those unaware a company can still run/operate/conduct non-patented systems/software/hardware on there perspective machines/electronics/mobile devices for a period of time) But in reality... A patent is just an ownership; before they could have run this algorythm open-sourced (free of use) without a patent.
So how does this apply to hearthstone... Just change some of the keywords to include those that apply to hearthstone. Hearthstone main goal is to sell cards. They do so in there own words by shifting power. Some sets will make other classes more powerful ie..... Jade Druid into Big Priest into Quest Mage into Cube Lock. They shift the power to ensure everyone is buying from each class and not just hoarding and playing the best on the block. You can also see this tactic with the New Paladin Hero, it requires people to own most of the cards to compete in the challenge for the paladin Hero... Eliminating people who have multiple free to play accounts from ever obtaining them.
But those are beside the point and only reinforce the next principal... They want to sell cards... how do they do that? By matching people up with strong decks that have the statistics to obliterate you... essentially leaving you to think you might need to own that deck to be competitive. TBH if they are not doing this... they should... Activision/Blizzard is Top Five in the industry as a Publisher... If you take them by scale they would easily be first... they are in the market to make massive amounts of money.... Heaps and Bounds with no limit or little justification... That is fact, Destiny 2 Eververse, Call of Duty Loot Crates, Overwatch FTP model packaged in a retail game, WOW cash shop on top of paid expansions and subscription, Spyro selling toys that resemble characters that are already in the game but gated off to those who don;t pay a premium for their characters.
Hearthstone is no different, they are the casino of all these games, besides Spyro... hearthstone is selling in-game usable items that are required to play the game. But that is not enough... they want to dictate to the degree they can... what you buy... essentially leading the the possibility that matchmaking is structured in a way that takes advantage of the above referenced Patent. Which is why instead of changing matchmaking they tiered it off. Now streamers are going to be in the good pool, whereas they will not be presented with off-tilted advantages and those in the higher tiers will be still match made with the patented algorythm.
Or maybe they don't. Maybe this is all my opinion and nothing is true. I implore Math classes throughout the country to conduct the largest study of statistics on Hearthstone and see what the findings conclude, I am sure we are certain to find something surprising!!!
There's actually a pretty obvious logical reason Blizzard would want to balance matchmaking so a player's winrate doesn't get above a certain point. While losing doesn't feel good as a player, if you win every game the game would get boring very quickly and you would quit playing. That's not to say that they are actually rigging the system, but if they were there would be a logical reason for it.
I don't know about you, but I've never heard of a player quitting a competitive game because they were "too good" at it.
The matchmaking could be rigged in a way which protects non-legend players who spend money. Also, there is no way to exploit this since when you tech your deck against another, you are not gaining anything by skipping the match-up, in fact you are losing a potential favorable win rate match-up.
The way I see things:
1) If OP data is correct (not troll, not different times during the day), the statistical evidence is enough to be considered not random matchmaking
2) If 1) is present, there are two possible reasons:
2.1) They test things in non-legend match-ups
2.2) They rig the game in favor of people who spend money
If we are indeed in the 2.2) case, this has to be declared in the ToS.
From Blizzard's POV, it makes absolutely no sense.
-Rigging matchups and archetypes is not that easy, and Blizz would constantly need to spend resources to keep their rigging updated, of course with a high level of secrecy. Harrison Jones can now be an important tech card vs mage, for example.
-There has been no substantial proof that spending real money gives you any form of matchmaking benefit. Your bigger card pool is enough of a reward.
-What do they risk, and what is the reward? If someone actually does the work to statistically prove beyond any doubt that the system is rigged, Blizzard is in DEEP trouble, and will most probably lose a lot of players. And what do they gain by rigging? Pretty close to nothing, a subliminal reward to players spending money?
Also, have you noticed how quickly we forget about tech-cards that are NOT meant for our deck? They might not be played, or pass by on a forgettable turn...
With current populations estimated at 70 million small fractional changes or pennies could net a very big pay-off over time... say one year or more. You are under the assumption people care... most won't... Hearthstone is mostly casual and will remain viable for many many many years and far ahead then any forums try to kill it. They Know this, they now many things, Ben Brode is complacent in this regard. This is the industry we live in MAXIMIZE PROFITS OVER EVERYTHING ELSE = MODERN DAY VERSION OF CAPITALISM!
This is BS . They want profit, but they also want happy customers !!! That’s way more important to them as it has been mentioned by many people who know Blizzard better. Otherwise they wouldn’t have changed Patches for example ,shortly before he rotated.
Happy customers= Money
Ppl find out about a rigged mm ? Sad customers = Less Money!
Activision already have a patent for such a matchmaking system I don't see a reason why they would not use it in such a game like heartstone. because no matter what, you cannot provide certain evidence to rigged rng without the data you get from Blizzard. also there is no legal penalty for using such tricks, It would only decrease their reputation so that kind of risk easily can be taken in order to generate more money and to provide more challenging ranking system.
What is the end goal? The ATVI patents were all about pushing a player towards buying a specific item. That isn’t really practical in hearthstone. And crafting a card isn’t really an option because you are going to need a whole deck. This would seem far more likely to drive people to quit the game than to buy more.
And for every player they screw over they just did the opposite for someone else. Do they just provide a higher win rate based on how recently you bought a pack?
I think you solved it...

I'm skeptical of your findings, but am going to test this myself because I am curious...

Ignore the morons on the site. There are lots. You clearly worked , OP. Thank you.
Hello!
This thread is getting quite derailed on a thread with confirmation bias as its basis. Locking it up!
