Is anybody else worried that warlock is taking over standard, and will only continue to do so with the upcoming nerfs, that in no way hurt warlock? Zoolock is running rampant, with winrates close to the top of any deck, and a relatively high usage rate. And cubelock is just undefeatable if you can last long enough, and with cards like hellfire and defile, you often do. With the coming nerfs to all aggro decks(patches + creeper), all tempo decks(bonemare), and razakus priest(raza), warlock seems as though it will reign supreme. Sure, zoolock also utilizes patches, but only 3 total pirate cards: patches, and 2 captains, which is not as hard to replace as a deck that might use 5 pirates.
This thread is getting a little convoluted, I'll admit, but the point is-what is to stop warlock from completely taking over standard?
Voidlord kinda stops zoo doesn't it? But yea I agree and think they should consider a change to doomguard since it has seen enough use for the last 4 years.
If yuo are seriously seeing a mad flux of Warlocks, just play Hunter Aggro (Beast). They can't buy a win against that deck. I'm not exggerating either, honestly.
Of the 80-90 games I played with the deck last season, the only Warlock decks that could ever beat it were ZooLock (who can sometimes out tempo you).
Beware of Tempo Mages though. That deck is disgustingly strong against minion aggro decks.
You guys need to think that the meta will shift, and maybe become "slower". It may allow decks that completely wreck warlock like combo decks such as " quest mage" or my "otk rogue'. decks that really on burn through spells like tempo mage also are good against warlock. I don't understand why people believe that the meta will be the same after the massive rotation that we will have in a couple of months even though we know zero about it. Will warlock be tier 1 in the next two months? sure, but I will rather wait two months and see how everything changes.
How about waitin till the changes and the rotation happens instead of opening 20.000 threads (genereal speaking) about the same topic.
We dont know what blizz have in mind perhaps they will Hof some cards perhaps with the next expansion other classes get some upgrades. I remember everyone bitchin around how bad Voidlord and Lackey are ("GG, Warlock still tier 1024917487 for next 2 years etc). And look now everyone bitchin about the powerlevel of Warlock. Dont worry the next OMG!OP!PLSNERFBLIZZ!-Class is in making to have something new to cry about
The current meta-game is dominated by two different decks - the only viable decks on ladder must be able to counter both Raza and Cubes. In a meta-game with a single dominant archetype, it will be easier to specifically target Cubes. Looking at the HSReplays numbers, Secret Mage looks like it will be the biggest benefactor of the nerfs - among existing decks, it has the best match-up against Cubes, with a 58% win-rate, and the best-performing builds of Secret Mage currently don't run Corridor Creeper or any other card which is being nerfed. We can only guess at what new decks will arrive on the scene over the next two months - assuming that Tempo decks are completely neutered, it seems like a safe bet that Midrange will no longer be squeezed out of the meta, and MR builds with a good match-up against Cubes will likely begin re-appearing on ladder. MR Paladin, for example, was a perfectly viable deck during Un'Goro and Frozen Throne - with the disappearance of free 5/5s, and the increased mana-cost of Bonemare, cards like Tirion Fordring and The Curator might find room in the meta-game again. A slower Paladin build might be able to get more value from their K&C weapon, allowing them to power through Cubelock. And plenty of other decks, currently squeezed out by Raza and Tempo, will presumably emerge - most will fail, and some won't. We'll have to wait and see, I suppose . . .
I would expect to see a swathe of DoomCube decks more than the late-game Control variant. The doom one is definitely a lot stronger overall (if the cubes dont get silenced and the weapon doesn't get removed - in fairness, hardly anybody is actually running weapon removal right now. I've seen it once or twice, but thats it.

Its possible that there are decks that can challenge Warlock now that they don't have to deal with the threat of 32+ burn from the Priest.
And losing Mistress and N'Zoth in April is a big deal for the Warlock.
That said, I think, at some point, there will need to be adjustments made to the power level of Lackey and (but probably not) Dark Pact.
I'm not worried about Warlock. I'll just play Spiteful priest and steal all of their Voidlords = I win.

Zoolock does get a nice boost because people mulligan poorly vs them expecting a control list.
