I know there has been a lot of talk about adding new game modes, so I wanted to create a forum for people to discuss it in.
Possible ideas
1. Some form of 2v2 or 3v3 mode, either randomly drafted or maybe class vs class. (IE 2 rogues vs 2 shamans)
2. A different form of arena. I had an idea the other day in which the premise of was it would be cool if you could draft any number of cards in an arena deck but it would have some very obvious downsides (like in MTG) however then fatigue would be weird
3. What about a game type like the old card game war, so basically you pick a class and then you draw random cards, also infinite cards
I know most of these aren't possible as of now but I think that another game mode would be insane fun.
Sounds like fun. Another idea is that you could play with ANY class card. Of course there's some terrifying combos, but I think new game modes would be a great idea! :)
I doubt we'd ever really see a multiplayer mode unfortunately, due to board size and needing to support mobile devices of a smaller nature.
I'd like to see more PvE modes honestly. I think so much more could be done with the campaigns than just what we've seen with Naxx.
I also think the War idea sounds fun. Some sort of mix of Arena and war, where you pick nothing but minions and play what you draw each turn regardless of mana cost. The arena selections takes care of making sure you don't just have high costed minions. When your board is full, new draws replace the oldest minion on the board.
Or that everything is boosted. You can have 60 cards in a deck, 4 of each. You draw 2-3 cards every turn (and mana faster). And both heroes have like 100 health
I'd like a mode where you can challenge a friend to an 'arena'-style match, where you each pick decks and then play each other.
Or, barring that (since I doubt Blizzard would ever make a 'free' version of arena mode, even just for friends), maybe have a mode where you can challenge a friend using decks that are randomly built from your collection (after you pick a class). I play like that against my wife sometimes, where we both let the computer create a deck full of random cards and then use our random decks against each other. It'd be quicker to have that process automated, and it gets us to play sometimes with cards that we never otherwise use.

One of the questions that's stuck in my mind for while is, why can't we have different play modes? See below for illustration Current: Deck Size=30, Max Copies=2, Max Copies Legendary=1, Hero HP=30, Starting Hand P1=3 Hypothetical: Deck Size=40, Max Copies=3, Max Copies Legendary=1, Hero HP=40, Starting Hand P1=4
It's also possible to modify the mana curve to go something other than 1, 2, ... 10, 10 forever, or let people run different max copies of common and soulbound cards.
So you want a different mode to play with a larger deck more health and a few more cards? I think it will be interesting but Blizzard has repeatedly stated they don't want to spend their time changing the UI. They like how simple it is for new players. Also having so little help on a new game, Creating an Unnecessary new mode is not something they will be doing anytime soon.
There's also the big issue of balancing. For example higher hp and deck size would make burst decks worthless and empower warlock in a crazy way as they can tap more often and get deeper into their deck easier than others. The card limit also greatly improves the warlock decks as both zoo and handlock don't rely on legendaries but do rely on card draw, minions that use large hand sizes, and epics or less rarities. Control decks, which will now have 10 more cards to have to dig through to find their legendaries, will have it harder.
So basically, midrange (which tends to be burst based) would suck, contol would be weaker, and warlock would rule everything with your hypothetical.
Thats part of the problem with altering the rules of the game. If you want it as a serious mode, then blizzard would have to rebalance the entire game around the new rules both now and with every expansion. basically twice the work.
Rule messing I can see for unranked modes that don't give any rewards. I support it actually.
I'm sure we'll see different modes of play in the future. I doubt that they will be ranked though. I really, really, really, want a 2vs2 mode. Among other things...

I'd really like to see something like that too especially since it is one of the best experiences in MT:G but this will be quite hard to pull off in Hearthstone....
If Blizzard can throw together a system for 40 people to simultaneously fight huge dragons, I think they can manage two-headed giant. Likewise my favorite part of MTG, but given the task of maintaining a bunch of different ladders I agree that it's unlikely to be ranked. Farming gold with the three win dealie would be problematic even in unranked, since multiple person games would be even easier to dominate for very skilled(or rich) players.

Yeah if they're going to expend development effort on new modes, they'd want to be genuinely new, like 2v2. Messing around with slightly different deck sizes or health pools sounds like a colossal waste of effort.
So... To spice things up (untill we'll see some new official game modes),
Does anyone have a fun way with unusual rules to play with friends? here are my favorites:
1. the notorious "Random Deck Challange": both players choose the same class and let the computer pick the cards randomly.
how?: go to create new deck, don't choose any cards and than press "Done", after that press "Yes" and the computer will pick the cards for you, a much funnier way to play is to not even look at the decks before the game starts, so you will be up for a surprise!
2."Mana Limitations": create your decks with different mana limitations for example: only use cards with Even\Odd numbers for mana cost. or lets say, make a rule that only 1 drops and 3 drops are allowed. you'll be surprised how creative you can get.
3."Build Around mode": this is a fun one. the rules are: each player picks 3 cards for his friend, than he/she has to put 2 copies of each card in his/her deck and basically forced to build a deck around those cards. ofcourse, be sure that you're picking super weird cards like Magma Rager, Captain's Parrot, and Flying Machine..
that's all I have for now, If you guys have some creative Ideas please put it here so we could all enjoy some silly game modes

This is statement is false.
I like CarrL's idea, I buy the humility, cabal shadow priest combo anytime!

i think that something like twin-head giant (mtg) will be good

How about some really fun modes?
Like you have 30x of the same card.

i would like to play some sort of coop game, something like Zombie Magic

Surely The Black Knight is more powerful than Gandalf...

But not ranked.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

I've been playing the Random deck one with a friend. Been having heaps of fun.
Going to have to try out these other two idea's though.
Thanks!
There's also Millstone, which someone recommended a while back.
The objective is to die to fatigue (killing your opponent or dying to some other form of damage will lose you the game).
Other rules
There might have been others, but I don't recall them.
nice idea!
4. "Not Attacking Face", sounds crazy.. I'm already thinking what kind of decks you can create, I guess Ice Block should be banned though..
You and your friend both build the worst deck you possibly can, then give to to your opponent and see who wins. It's super fun.
